Don't get me wrong, Monk was my favourite hero in the beta, but GODDAMN his armour is ugly.
I'm hoping to find some good Doom armour (which actually looks good) and use Spirit Stones instead of the awful helmet.
Or maybe Archon armour with the Doom armour shoulders.

What makes the Barbarian such a powerful force on the battlefield? All along, it was his pent-up sexual frustration.
This is disgusting and terrible and you should feel bad about yourself.
Lol really?
I mean, I know that it's fairly disgusting, but it's intended as nothing more than irony, and in turn, humour.
I'm not endorsing these views. I'm clearly playing on the disgusting and terrible fact that almost every female character in the Blizzard universe is quite heavily sexualized. I mean, fully naked winged demons in D1, Andariel with big bare breasts and a thong in D2, the Demon Hunter's perfectly formed ass that they must have spent months on... and big---in fact unrealistically large---breasts on anything female.
Looking back at it, I can see that it might have very vague connotations of rape, but this was really unintended. My only intention was to contrast the realistic and (conventionally) less attractive female Barbarian with the overly sexualized female characters that Blizzard creates. Everything else is just a symptom of trying to create a coherent narrative with only a few images.
If it's really offensive to you, I'm sorry, and I must warn you to not go anywhere else on the internet, or you might not survive. -

Honestly many people here find the later acts of Normal very challenging (like they can't beat the last boss for weeks on end challenging)
I am so tired of their contradicting statements. Stop giving every group of gamers a separate PR line. You can't say players will breeze through normal and then throw out this statement in your very next reply.
I feel like it's a jab at my intelligence. I'm not that freaking gullible and to be honest... I am a bit offended that you can't just tell us the truth (that normal will be mind-numbingly easy). That's fine... I've accepted that fact but at least own up to it instead of trying to throw us lines like this.
I remember being 12 years old and struggling my way through Act 4 of D2 in Normal difficulty. I had no idea about how to build a char, what items are effective, any of those things, and I found it really hard. When I got up to Diablo it took me many goes to kill him. It made me scared of the dark after each session until I went to bed
This is just reminding you that there are going to be heaps of people who do struggle with Normal difficulty. Don't assume that everyone is in their mid 20-30s and has played all kinds of games for the last 10-20 years of their life. There will be people who breeze through normal in 30 minutes (maybe?), then people who will literally take weeks. Nothing contradictory there. -

Nobody is telling them to change their religion. Besides, if those things they don't have in there, are not from THEIR religion, so why bother? It's somebody's else "problem", that they have ghosts in their religions. Don't get it really.
You refer to the "people of China" not being able to accept those things. But you have to remember that China is still recovering from its previous government... the government is to blame, not the people.
The same thing goes for Australia and Germany. As if anyone cares about seeing some blood. It's our government's fault for not introducing an 18+ age restriction, instead banning innapropriate games. -
Aug 26, 2009silent.knife.speaks. posted a message on Why Jay Wilson Lets His Daughter Play Diablo 3.Coming from Australia I'm disappointed to see that they're going to have to change the blood because of our laws. Do you think he means there will be an option for Australian gamers to put the blood and gore back to normal, or will it just be permanently changed?Posted in: News
If there's no option, do you think Australians and Germans could just order a US copy to play the game the way it should be? -

You gotta admit some of his skills look like Dragon Ball? He can kinda teleport due to speed (rather than arcane magic) and his "zeal"-like punching attack definitely shows a resemblance to DB. -

They did change her skill stone armor to look more like a light show. Instead of looking like rocks it now looks like shinning crystals. Therefore they said they might change the name of the skill now.
Red Rocks posted the panels, or you could probably find them on youtube by now, if you watch them they say in the panel. I have the live feed and I did look at our live chat and it was mistakenly put down that the Wizard will get a revamp and name change. This is not the case though.
Ah ok thanks for clearing that up. -

Ofcourse they will go back and improve the first ones in the end aswell to get em up to snuff.
Also, as mentioned in the panel last night, the wizard is most likely to get a revamp (possibly even a name change), to be more like a freaking lightshow as their initial goal with her was
Yeah, that sounds true, I'm sure they'll all look equally awesome in the end. And I read about the proposed wizard revamp, trust Blizzard to care that much I wonder what the new name will be... If it hasn't started already, there's gonna be so much speculation about it even though the change isn't confirmed... -
Aug 22, 2009silent.knife.speaks. posted a message on New Diablo 3 Character Class: The Monk! When I watch the monk gameplay trailer and the individual skill mini-videos, then go back and watch the other classes, somehow there's something about the animations and subtle screen shakes that gives the monk a totally brutal feel.Posted in: News
And watching the wizard doing her stuff seemed kind of tame in comparison. I dunno, I'm sure with more powerful high level skills + improving the animations over the next year or so they'll all feel really strong, but just thought I'd put that out there. Does anyone get that impression?
I'm not saying I think the monk will be more powerful, just that watching him looks awesomely brutal. It definitely makes me want to play monk first. -
Aug 22, 2009silent.knife.speaks. posted a message on New Diablo 3 Character Class: The Monk!Posted in: NewsQuote from "TheBloody-Nine" »They said they had tried to combine western and eastern monk culture for this one. For example, the beard and bald head is very western, while the fighting and clothing is more eastern.
But to be honest, what did western monks do that made them badass? Drinking beer and living in solitude? They were pussies.
Yeah, I honestly don't see what would be cool about playing a Western monk. Maybe they could knock demons out by swinging those scented incense burner things on a chain. But they're pretty lame in almost every way.
I don't see any Western monk in this guy anyway, the beard + baldness struck me as Middle Eastern when I first saw it... so its interesting to hear that they tried to include Western monk culture.
A lot of people seem to be obsessed with the Diablo universe needing to have a Western medieval feel, probably cos of Act 1 in D2. What's with that? I think it's good that there's some variety, without going too far of course. -

Nah... I believe they did say it could be possible for classes to return in the expansion.
I can't quite remember, but I'm pretty sure they said there wouldn't be any returning in the stand alone game. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

You, sir, just won life.
To the OP: I like Monk, had heaps of fun playing him in the beta. Don't think of him as a supporter as some people say. He will be able to fight as well as anyone.

I was completely addicted to D2 (as probably most of Diablofans members were :P), but I think there were many features of the game mechanics that I don't appreciate anymore.
The main ones, as everyone else has mentioned:
So of course, play it if you want, it's definitely a classic, but I don't think there are many really good reasons right now, other than seeing what all the fuss was about.
0
Yeah that's true. I still think that even with the best gear, Inferno sounds like it will continue to be more challenging than anything D2 had to offer. Actually, maybe apart from Uber Diablo. That was fairly insane.
Haha, come on do we suck that much? Even though I quoted you out of context, I at least addressed your issues in the bit under the image.
1
Yes, D2 was punishing when it came to building your character. But I think D3 will be insanely more difficult at the end of Inferno than D2 ever was. E.g. in D2, 1 Hammerdin could solo Hell Baal with 8 players. That will not happen in D3 Inferno.

Like any Wizard though, you'd have to make sure you don't get bursted down by multiple enemies at once. No amount of HP gain per hit will let you survive a nasty damage spike.

Yeah, good points. If we only need resistances to negate things like Poison damage, then we will be fine as we will be stacking as much Intelligence as possible. Bleeding is still a worry though. But as others have said, this build might be great in some areas and not good in others. The most exciting thing will be finding it out for ourselves

Could you be any more negative.
0
Yeah. Maybe this needs a new thread because everyone who comes to it sees the exaggerated title and the super defensive build and says OMG THIS HAS NO DAMAGE IT WILL NOT WORK. Or OMG YOU WILL TAKE 3 HITS AND DIE LOLOL. We have already replied to those kinds of comments 20 times.
Some things that should be made clear:

As everyone else is saying, being attacked by more than one enemy at a time is probably going to kill any Wizard. At least with this strategy, if you can avoid instant death (Dodge % and Slow Time), you will be far better off, as you can passively regen your full HP many times a second.
Yeah Nightmare, I like that build. I was thinking about something similar, you need Slow Time, Tele (with Illusionist) and Energy Armor.
Can you explain your offensive abilities? I've never been that familiar with Wizard spells. So Magic Missile is your preferred signature, then Disentegrate for single target and AoE explosions, and Arcane Torrent for AoE and increased damage?
I'm also really really excited about trying this build. I used to want to play Wizard maybe 4th, but now it's pushing up to about 2nd

I don't see why it's a huge problem that you can't use VIT gear? The idea is that Force Armor lets you bypass Vitality and Armor. If you're suggesting that having only 1.5K HP is extremely risky, well of course, but we have to wait and see how well this works.

Items only increase your HP if they have +Vitality. Each single point of Vitality gives you 10 HP. In the beta it was easy to find armor with +10 Vit, meaning it gave you 100 more HP.
You can control how much HP you have. Simply remove armor with +Vit, and you will get to around 1500 HP at level 60.
