I find any ranged (bow) characters that they never pwn.

You obviously didn't play Diablo2 version 1.09. Well over half of the population were amazons because they pwned HARD.

    ------------

Does anyone remember the Witch Doctor's Black Magic damage type? Not sure if they removed it, but it belonged to one his Spirit skills if I remember correctly. I even recall a developer (or possibly bashiok) mentioning the skill and touching down on damage type and saying he didn't want to complicate things through resistance and having to equip items for resistance for individual damage types. To that, he said there are many possible solutions. Just thought I'd mention that since no one has yet brought it up.

For the next class, I think the bows+(traps+auras) is a very good idea; I remember Jay Wilson saying he'd like to do auras for a character but the Monk would be too obvious, so that makes it seem even more likely. For this bow class, I'd like to see more sniper-style skills, moving the class out of the crowd-control territory into the specialized/massive damager. Of course, they'll still have some comparitively less powerful AoE attacks.

A pure pet-reliant class. Summoning skill tree would have powerful 'beings' to summon, and not measly animal spirits or undead. It would be complex where you can combine this 'pet' with that one, but not with that one, something like that.
Second tree would be buffer spells for your minions and curse spells for your minions' enemies, and a limited amount but powerful attack spells; for taking part in active battle.
Third tree would be godly upgrades and masteries for your summoned 'superbeings'.

I know the argument for this class is that it would not be fun to just sit back and let your minions do all the work, but you really wouldn't be. Like I said earlier, you'd be constantly cursing, buffering your minions and casting your own attack spells. One cool example would be shooting a magic-missile style spell that directs a summon to attack the monster it hit.
Upgrades skills could lead to all sorts of possibilites, such as a room clearing rage mode for a specific minion or a multi-minion maker for another.

I also understand that the WD already takes the spot of summoner and that we have a 0.0005% chance of having one of the unnanounced classes be another summoner, but let's not rule out any expansion pack characters!

I think you need to widen this a bit. What if your minion was fully controllable, what if it had its own power.

You definately catch my drift. :)

Summon upgrades is where the true fun of being this character could be.

Anyone think that one of the classes may be a pet class? Not like the necro or WD where they have minions that die fast and you just resummon then.....but something far more reliant on there minion/pet?

I think that would be the most interesting and innovative idea yet, a pure pet-reliant class. Summoning skill tree would have powerful 'beings' to summon, and not measly animal spirits or undead. It would be complex where you can combine this 'pet' with that one, but not with that one, something like that.

Second tree would be buffer spells for your minions and curse spells for your minions' enemies, and a limited amount but powerful attack spells; for taking part in active battle.

posted a message on The Witch Doctor's Plague of Toads lame? Hardly.
How does Plague of Cherries sound? Or Plague of Slugs? "Catch that sand creaper, my slugs!"

While toads are not my favorite idea at the moment, they can do much worse. If you don't like it, don't put skill points into it. I, for one, like to see that there is a little variety injected into this genre instead of seeing the umpteenth version of magic missile (yawn).

Also, I would think this skill would be pretty useful in a duel, representing a boon to your character as they seek out and distract your opponent while you ready your real damage spell. Or who knows, maybe toads can kill by themselves!

BTW, don't dismiss barb's find potion just yet, people. We might be singing it's praises in a world where potions will be rare and likely saved for bosses only. That is, if it returns.

All the ones who you can hire mercenaries from in d2 are nominees for a set in d3, in my point of view.

    Couldn't agree more.

This idea really works better with D2, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

Habacalva is the sorceress who single-handedly turned the tide of a war "with a single casting of meteor". Or it might of been Hepsheeba; either way, my manuals are but long gone.

My set not only would cater to one character, but also a specific skill tree. In this case, fire skills for the sorceress. Habacalva's (or maybe it's Hepsheeba. either way, I'll just reference Haba from now on, they both used fire skills anyhow) gear helped boost her fire skills and uber-boosted her meteor spell, which in turn helped her side win this war she became famous for. The gear was stolen from the shrine it rested in and we can now only assume that it is scattered across all of Sanctuary.

Or perhaps the pieces lay on some young intrepid travelers back. Either way, the Zan Esu will reward the one who can piece the set together and return it to it's rightful home. Or it can stay with you and help you rain certain celestial death on those who oppose u.

Habacalva's Burning Crusade (betcha Blizz'll love that one)
Equipment, stats, and bonuses are as follows:

    Habacalva's Burning Cradle Shako:
    +1 to fire skill tree
    +25 all resist
    +10% fire skill dmg
+10 to str, dext, and vit
    +45 to energy

    Habacalva's Burning Forge Archon Plate:
    +1 to fire skill tree
+defense (based on char lvl) (2.5 def per lvl)
    +30% faster hit recovery
    +10% fire skill dmg
    +3 to fire mastery
    +3 to meteor
    +1-2 to fireball
    +1-2 to fire bolt

    Habacalva's Burning Ring Ring:
    +10% to fire skill dmg
    +10% faster cast rate
+30% resist to psn, cold and lightning
    +65% resist to fire
    +increase max mana by 40%

    Habacalva's Burning Intent Dimensional Shard:
    +2 to fire skill tree
    +25% faster cast rate
    +15% to fire skill dmg
    -35% to enemy fire resistance
+ adds 2 to phys dmg (lol)

    Two-piece bonus:
    +10% fire skill dmg
    +2 to meteor
    -5% to fire resist

    Three-piece bonus:
    +15% fire skill dmg
    +3 to meteor
    -10% to fire resist

    Full set:
    +20% to fire skill dmg
    +4 to meteor
    -15% to fire resist

Sorry for the multi-posts guys, I'm really into this. :) Anyway, does anyone think it's overpowered\underpowered? Explain?

This set is designed to INCINERATE the opposition with heat akin to the blazing sun, and also provides good resists and mana bonuses; albeit it lacks most other desirable stat bonuses. In my oppinion, it isn't at it's best until you find the orb, obviously the hardest to find, because you can only ever pierce 10% of fire resists with the other three pieces together (not including other gear and facets, of course).

Combined with a good shield, amulet, and fire charms, I believe this could send a fire sorceress' damage through the roof; ascending her to the top-eschalons of maximum-damage character builds.
