Sorry, I've just had to beat that story down so many times here and on other forums. The thread almost always gets shut, maybe the truth is too depressing for some fanboys.

Nope. 110% wrong. For starters, only 3 Blizzard North people of the over 50 with credits on Diablo II currently work in Irvine. And everything else in your post is total speculation which you won't find a single link to back up - and is actually contradicted by what we have read by people who were there, like Mike Huang who wrote a little bit about it on his blog. You somehow also managed to get another 3 or 4 things wrong in that post, which is impressive.

If by 'd2 team (blizz north)' you mean 'credited on Diablo II and working at Blizzard North at the time', you're very far off. The real # is more like 3... out of 51.
These are the people on the core team (full-time at the Blizzard North offices in the Bay Area as of the release in 2000) that worked on Diablo II:

David Brevik, Erich Schaefer, Max Schaefer, Matthew Householder, Kenneth Williams, Michael Huang, Stieg Hedlund, Rick Seis, Theodore Bisson, Peter Brevik, Doron Gartner, Peter Hu,
Peter Kemmer, Doug McCreary, Jesse McReynolds, Jon Morin, Divo Palinkas, Jason Regier,
Michael Scandizzo, Jonathan Stone, Tyler Thompson, Steven Woo, Phil Shenk, John Kubasco,
Cheeming Boey, Evan Carroll, Michael Dashow, Ben Haas, Kelly Johnson, Michio Okamura,
Kris Renkewitz, Anthony Rivero, Christopher Root, Eric Sexton, Robert Steele, Patrick Tougas
Alan Ackerman, Ben Boos, David Glenn, Alex Munn, Mark Sutherland, Marc Tattersall,
Fredrick Vaught, Matt Uelmen, Scott Peterson, Jonathan Stone, Stefan Scandizzo, Grant Wilson,
Karin Colenzo, Joe Morrissey, Charlotte Grant.

So, the first screenshots from "Torchlight" have been released. This is the team composed of veterans from "Fate" and the original "Diablo".
Looks pretty nice IMO.

Not true at all, Dime. That progression isn't referenced in a bunch of tracks - harem, the arcane sanctuary stuff (which is 12-tone), maggot, and sewers come to mind instantly just when thinking of the act 2 music, though I'm sure many more also don't reference that theme. As usual, your sweeping generalizations are totally groundless.

I think I made it clear that my response was to the statement, not the poster him/herself, and that I thought the rest of the post was quite good.
I try to stick to the substance of the post, and really don't hold it against folks when they make mistakes. But calling those games "terrible" really is way off-base, and much more of a flame than my response to it. I think the fact that someone bothered to port LV to GBA a decade later says it all:

Of course, the exception to the above is Dimebog. Asking any intelligent poster here not to instinctively flame him is like asking a true Diablo player to let Garbad live. Almost impossible.

That's a load of crap in what was otherwise a thoughtful post.
The original "Orcs and Humans" was actually quite fun, while "Rock and Roll Racing" and "The Lost Vikings" were both generally well-received.
You need to put this in context - back in the mid nineties, FMV garbage like "Seventh Guest" and incredibly boring non-games like "Myst" dominated the PC. The sad and ironic thing about Bliz's current focus on cinematics, card games, flashy animations, conventions, collectors' editions, etc, and full decade of releasing nothing but WoW iterations is that their initial success was based on them being actual action-based game alternatives to these kinds of overhyped yawners.

You might be thinking of this:
http://www.diii.net/blog/comments/the-d2-team-comments-on-d3-part-ii/
Here's an excerpt: "There?s a lot of criticism floating around right now about D3 looking or feeling cartoony; I think that?s just people needing something to complain about."
As for that other statement - that's more than a little bizarre and ridiculous, and I'm sure you have absolutely no source for it.

Yes, Bill went all the way back to 1994 with Blizzard, but he didn't move up to Blizzard North until 2002. Yes, the two Breviks and two Schaefers are brothers.
This is a good list of early Condor, Inc (which became Blizzard North shortly thereafter):

And guess who worked on the Nintendo version of the same title:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/snes/justice-league-task-force/credits
Pay close attention to the 'thanks' in both lists for extra points.

As the link mentioned, mobygames lists all of the credits. You can also just look at the credits on the actual games in their documentation. I went over all of this with my source years ago, but can probably give a quick bio on any name in particular, if you're curious.

For at least the third time on this forum:
- Less than 1/5 of the Blizzard North people with a credit on Diablo II worked on 'Hellgate'
- Roper didn't have an office at Blizzard North until AFTER the release of "Lord of Destruction"
- None of the 19 Blizzard North people with a credit on the original Diablo currently work in Irvine

Obviously, the folks there disagree and felt they needed to make a change. Anyone want to dig up the Official Party Announcement on that one?

You make more sense when you're just regurgitating the party line. Doing something besides repeating the official announcements of a multi-billion dollar company is a little more challenging.
In Soviet Russia, game plays you, I guess. The Ministry of Information has spoken, and none shall question.
