If the alternative is allowing cheating, bots, and duping...then i'm all for giving blizzard a small window into my machine. I don't really care because i'm just here to enjoy a game. I suppose if you are actually trying to do something wrong then you probably have a problem with this.

posted a message on Catering to the "new" player? Someone had to of understood old games from the start
    Quote from Uldyssian

Well I was about 13 when I played Diablo 1 and I had no trouble figuring out that system. Same when I was 15 and played Diablo 2. Not to mention all the other games out there. It should also be known that I am really bad at being "good" at games (Didn't raid successfully til LK patch in Wrath for example) so this isn't about gamer ego.

While I do appreciate that they are easing those who wouldn't inherently understand some mechanics (my girlfriend benefited from the tutorial aspects and ease of use when she tried out the beta) it's saddening to see that even basic systems are too much for those who buy the games to process and enjoy handling.

I think that is the big problem. The game industry is, like any form of entertainment, a product of those who consume it. People as a whole seem completely disinterested with the details of games. Sure the runestone system was an inventory hog and perhaps not the smoothest application of the system. But there are some elements in these rpgs that add a depth of nuance to absorbing the mindset of the characters you play. Taking time to read tomes rather than hearing them as ipod audiobooks while you smash face is another example. Immersion becomes lost for the sake of a certain flow of one aspect of the game.

This is all rehashed opinions I am sure but I was in the beta yesterday just thinking about how some of the old elements of these games that are hacked away for the sake of streamlining were actually parts that took you deeper into a world.

When I think of WoW I can say that while Wrath was a better flowing section of the overall game Vanilla and parts of TBC were actually far more memorable in the long term because of the larger investments of time and energy I put in as a whole. The music in the orc starting zones strike much more of a personal chord than the arguably more beautifully constructed soundtracks of Northrend.

I would have to disagree with you on this point. The Action/RPG genre is one of the kindest and easiest types of games for people to play. You really just have to spam your skills and watch your orbs. My wife is not a big video game player. However, when there is a new ARPG to play i get it because it is something easy to handle.

posted a message on New class in D3 expansion !
I would love to see the necromancer get a comeback for the next expansion. I still remember when i made my first necro and focused on corpse explosion (before the nerf). It was very sweet just listening to all of those corpses spew forth their intestines in a mighty cacophony of destruction!! Obviously, the developers might go for totally new classes....and i would be just fine with that.

I hate the idea of only being able to pick up items that are only for you. I think the drop system should remain the same as it was in d2. Fuck fairness... If im on my barb and a item drops that I need on my witch doctor - I'm gonna want it - and If I can't atleast TRY to pick it up I would be mad. If I'm out farming on my own, will I only be able to grab items that are for my farmer? Look.... the current ideas of loot distribution are absurd - its not like the drops are givin to you, they fall on chance, a percentage - anybody has rights to that item when AND IF it drops.
    .
Fuck that? See how i did that?

The new loot system is awesome! You can get an item for you Dr or your barb..maybe you will trade with someone...wow what a novel idea!!

I think the ability to steal loot from other people is what makes diablo diablo. One of the first things that strike me when I play WoW is that you can't steal loot and also soulbound loot.

It is essential to keep it this way because sometimes you snatch someone epicse's it's fun but other times someone might snatch your epics it ads an element of surprise.

    No...thats dumb.

Blizz is doing it the right way. It will make the community closer because there will be more trading..and less "who is the fastest clicker gets the loot"

posted a message on Reasons why PK should stay in D3. A detailed analysis (long)
    Quote from "cbr" »
It isn't really that simple. It would split the comunity even more, considering there is already a split from SC/HC. Unless you suggest Non-PK HC chars still being able to interact with PK HC chars, which is just a terrible idea. People would make their MF chars non-pk and their pk/duel chars pk, only people that would have pk chars would be the pkers. If your goal is to kill PK off than your suggestion would do it.

We are not talking about an MMO. Diablo has always been VERY easy to start a new character and move along. Creating multiple characters is something that will happen and should happen. So big deal...I have one PvE character, One PVP Character, and One Hardcore (yes...if you choose hardcore you are part of PVP and the 1 death system)

I do not believe this would splinter the community.

posted a message on Please, Blizzard, let there be a monthly fee.
I have absolutely no faith in Blizzard's pay model. They really screwed the pooch with WOW in regards to updating the game and providing "free" content. Their content patches were sad...sad...sad.

This will not be any different for Diablo 3....PLEASE DO NOT CHARGE!!

There is a very easy way to handle this. When you create your character you can choose PK or no PK....

    There..simple...

You have decided to PK and get PK'd...others have decided to not.

Yes cuse we will all know everything about the game and the spells and what is good or not when the game comes out right?

You should be able to completely respec. Just not any time and as often as you want.

I don't want to redo a character 10 times because of the learning curve in the game or because of balance patches.

Ever make a firewall sorc? or one based on... i think it was Static field? the whole build was based on getting items to lower your cast time. Blizzard nerfed it too hell and the entire build was worthless without you actually doing anything wrong. Your proposed solution would not fix the above mentioned situation at all.

People should not be forced to rebuild entire characters because of the unavoidable balance/nerf patches that will come after the game goes retail.

Having no respecs or forcing people to continually play the same class over and over is really old school and outdated.

    Repecs all the way.

Ok...maybe bilzz gives everyone, in that class, one respec if they find a flaw or have to balance something.

    That is fair.

'sans-serif'>No offense to any of you WOW players, but I can tell who is a WOW player and who is not. (I played wow for 2 years) Anyone who is for the easy gold respec is obviously a WOW player. Gold will become obsolete as the game moves on just as it has become inflated in MMO economies. Blizz needs to be very careful on how they handle the respecing because one of d2's charms is that you can level two barbarians and they can be completely different characters. This leads to TONS of replayablility.

'sans-serif'>Replayability is good! Easy respec is BAD! I feel that you should not be able to respec at all. Its works fine in D2...why fix it?
