If you freeze the part where the demon is shown in the cinematic, you can clearly see a gap between the middle head and the right head/mouth. Indicating that at least the one on the right, has a neck. A mouth with a neck doesn't make much sense..

After becoming almost convinced that the demon in the cinematic couldn't be Diablo, I decided to search a little. I read most of the threads on this forum and others dealing in debate as to who that demon is. Everyone seems to think it's either Diablo or Belial. Though I couldn't understand why everyone ruled out Azmodan so soon. So after trying to find Azmodan referenced in a religious text or something of the sort, and finding NOTHING, I found this:

    "Occultism & Parapsychology Encyclopedia: Asmodeus
Ancient Persian demon of lust and rage who also appeared in ancient Jewish folklore, where he was believed to cause strife between husband and wife. He is mentioned in the book of Tobit ca. 250 B.C.E., where he attempts to cause trouble between Tobias and his wife, Sarah. Jewish legends claim that Asmodeus was the result of a union between the woman Naamah and a fallen angel. Asmodeus was often represented in magical texts as having three heads—a man, a bull, and a ram, riding a dragon, and carrying a spear. Directions for evoking this demon are contained in the well-known magical textbook The Magus; or, Celestial Intelligencer by Francis Barrett (1801).

    Sources:
Barrett, Francis. The Magus. London, 1801. Reprint, New Hyde Park, N.Y.: University Books, 1967."

    ____________

Asmodeus; Not quite Azmodan, but certainly close enough to bear more than a coincidental resemblance. Notice it is also said this demon had three heads, and was born of a fallen angel, also falling in line with what we've seen/speculated so far (as it's become generally accepted fallen angels will come into play in D3 lore). Now I'm not well versed in Diablo backstory so I don't know if maybe Azmodan's origin has been discussed in a book and goes against this.

Here's another couple of excerpts I thought interesting enough to share:
    "In the Malleus Maleficarum

In the Malleus Maleficarum (1486), Asmodai was considered the demon of lust, to which agreed Sebastian Michaelis saying that his adversary is St. John. Some demonologists of the 16th century assigned each month to a demon and considered November to be the month in which Asmodai's power was stronger. Other demonologists asserted that his zodiacal sign was Aquarius but only between the dates of January 30th and February 8th.
He has seventy-two legions of demons under his command. He is one of the Kings of Hell under Lucifer the emperor. He incites gambling, and is the overseer of all the gambling houses in the court of Hell. Some Catholic theologians compared him with Abaddon. Yet other authors considered Asmodai a prince of revenge.

    In the Dictionnaire Infernal

In the Dictionnaire Infernal by Collin de Plancy, Asmodai is depicted with the breast of a man, cock legs, serpent tail, three heads (one of a man spitting fire, one of a sheep, and one of a bull), riding a lion with dragon wings and neck, all of these animals being associated with either lascivity, lust or revenge.

In the Lesser Key of Solomon

Asmodai appears as the king 'Asmoday' in the Ars Goetia, where he is said to have a seal in gold and is listed as number thirty-two according to respective rank.[2]
He "is strong, powerful and appears with three heads; the first is like a bull, the second like a man, and the third like a ram; the tail of a serpent, and from his mouth issue flames of fire."[2] Also, he sits upon an infernal dragon, holds a lance with a banner and, amongst the Legions of Amaymon, Asmoday governs seventy two legions of inferior spirits.[2]"

    Any thoughts?

Edit: Ahhh on second analysis of the sketch, I realized it IS a pair of fiery clawed nipples of doom... lol nice Blizz... nice.

I have to wonder if the new devs were simply playing the game and got tired of having to kill Baal while 6 others just stood at the ready with empty chars to grab everything.

I will admit that it is frustrating when someone teles over to grab something that essentially is from your kill. Last ladder at the beginning this happened twice where I lost a Lo and Ormus thanks to people that did no fighting, but simply waited for drops. It also seems to me that they are attempting to make this game less about items and more about gameplay, here having players focus on killing and not on what drops.

At this point we don't know if this new system fixes the leechers-taking-loot issue. If it is about fairness, unless they implement something that based on your damage gives you loot (not likely).. you're still going to have the jerk offs tossing one frozen orb/meteor whatever into the fray and then retreating behind a pillar while the hammerdins do all the work (to use a baal run as an example). Except, in the D2 system, where they have to at least teleport into the midst of battle to try and grab something, with this system they can just SIT in the back and do absolutely nothing aside from some initial useless damage, and then collect all the loot that dropped for them when everything is over. Like I said it's just speculation at this point since they haven't really gone into detail with how it is going to function. But for every one good thing you find about this new system I'm positive you can find a bad thing to match. Theoretically it sounds messy.. let's hope they have had the foresight to implement some form of control as to who gets what based on actual participation in battles. I have faith in them.. we'll see how this pans out when more details are released.

I suppose the good thing is you don't have to just click as fast you can like a retard when a boss dies and not even know what dropped until you look at it in your inventory later on. This way you can focus on actually killing the boss and any lingering monsters after the bosses death instead of dying because the Fallen Shaman you forgot to kill shot a fireball at you when you were at 1hp from poison after killing Andariel -_- Lol.

No but seriously, this system leaves a lot up to the RNG. TOO much up to the RNG if you ask me, or any other fast clicker (Not a pickit-wielding cunt) that likes to at least 10% of the time against the item grabbers be in control of getting what they click on.

Like everything else thus far, it's just something new and different that we will get used to. Maybe this system will promote others to be more considerate in the game. Those players that are assfaces and don't give/trade items to the players said items are better suited for (provided they participated in the killing of monster that dropped said item) by their own accord, will be shitlisted like in other games where a basic level of camaraderie is expected. That would be a nice change from the D2 crowd.

It isn't a matter of being greedy, or impatient. If it didn't drop, oh well. Or if it did and some one else who also needed it got it.. No biggie either. What I'm saying is a witchdoctor getting a big rare sword when there was a barb there who could use it.

I guess I am just being pessimistic, but I would hate to be that poor barb when the witchdoctor turns out to be the greedy one and won't sell it to the barb (which is unnecessary in the first place). At least if I missed the click it's my own fault for being slow.. meh.

It's not that I don't like the sound of this new system because I am (or more accurately - 'used') an item grabber in D2. The reason I don't like it is because this gives me the feeling that I'm gonna be sitting in a game with random people, and something is going to drop off a boss that I am going to very much wish I had at least the CHANCE to pick up myself. But instead thanks to this crap I now have to pay/trade the guy that it dropped for when I was there and took part in the killing of said boss just as much as he. If they are going to do something gay like this, they SHOULD implement a rolling system like WoW. That way at least you can say, "hey guys, I really need that particular item. Is it cool if I take it?" instead of having to pay for something you should have had the chance to pick up in the first place. Just seems like it's going to be very screwy and cause a lot more bitching than actually ending it.

Edit: If you think about it, this is actually promoting soloing over playing cooperatively unless they are also implementing diminishing return to the amount of drops against players in the game. I, as a huge fan of mfing for all my own riches, never mfed in public games in D2. This is going to make me want to do it much less. Hell I'll even level alone if it means I don't have to be pissed off at some point because some useless caster got a massive axe I should have been able to pick up.

I like WoW.. Have 4 Lvl 70's myself. That being said, the issue with most of the people on this forum isn't whether 'we' hate or love WoW. The problem 'we' (as a unified Diablo loving community) have with WoW is that it is a gaming universe completely unique in its own right, as is Diablo. At least, that is the way it should be, and most Diablo fans are concerned D3 is being influenced too much by a universe other than its own. TBH, at this point it wouldn't surprise me if there is in fact a new cow level... and it is full of taurens.
