How did they do it for StarCraft 2 and the WoW expansions?
For SC2...I believe it was just a press release? Not sure about WoW. I remember they announced the SC2 CE almost 2 months in advance before the official release, even before the announcement of the release date. Why would Blizzard do anything differently with D3?
WoW expansions have generally just been press releases followed by some blue posts to the community.
Five would be nice, but I could see myself getting by on four in 99% of the cases. I've never ever been in a situation where I've actually needed eight players in one game.
Didnt Jay Wilson say on the interview with za German that they havent decided if the regions will be locked and they will do what they find most fit when the time comes?
In D2 most of the uniques are useless, if they bothered to make a ''legendary'' item class for D3, I'll take that these will be the very best gear in the game.
They said in one of the interviews that they wanted people to use a mix of rare, legendary and crafted items. Also that crafted items would probably be a smaller part of that mix.
It's nice that they've thought about it. Sometimes you might realize that you want to have the original look on something. I doubt they'll actually call it "colour normal" though, I'd go with something like "dye remover".
Yeah, I was thinking it would be some guy in town who dyes your armor, but I guess it would make it more interesting having them as drops. By the way when I asked Bashiok on the twitter and he replied that "normal" is a color too, and I just don't know what he means by that. Any wild guesses?
I suppose that "normal" would return the item to its original state.
Also I think it should be possible to finish hell Diablo on single player without hacks in a reasonable amount of time
This is where we disagree. I don't see the need for everyone to complete the game on the hardest difficulty. Being able to finish Hell should be an achievement and a priviledge, not something everyone does in two days before they start grinding gear.
He's talking about servers, not the actual game world.
As far as I recall there were no US Central, just West, East and Europe. There might have been an asian server as well, but I never had any reason to play on it so I don't recall.
As for D3, I haven't really seen any info on it yet. At this point we don't even know if we're going to be region locked like in SC2 or if we get to choose freely.
lol, its not forced at all...and shouldn't feel that way.
its not even possible to encounter uber D without putting hours of effort into it. YOu wouldn't need to do it, and its possible to never even know about it .. lol..
I don't mean forced in that way, I mean that the entire idea is a bit out there. Maybe "contrived" is a better word to describe it. It's totally disconnected from the actual story, and you have to jump through a bunch of strange hoops to spawn bosses that for some reason have returned even stronger than before.
I prefer that they actually make the last difficulty properly hard so that Hell difficulty Diablo can be the pinnacle of achievements.
They could just give you a one-way portal back to the ground and you could continute onwards or head for a waypoint to get back to your caravan. I doubt they'll force us to backtrack through an empty dungeon just to get out.
isn't that what i said?
same like doing the act 1, first quest?
Almost. Think of it as a portal (or stairs even) from the last Countess chamber back to the top of the tower. The frequent waypoints could then help us get back to the caravan, or we could just continue onwards to chase down Andariel. It makes more sense than a portal directly back to your caravan to me.

You forgot to multiply by 100 when you turned it into percent. The odds are not *quite* that bad.

That's pretty much the gist of that Q&A quote.
