The only feedback that Blizzard is going to listen to will be the amount of money that they make on their games. It is simple. Vote with your money!

posted a message on The DIII Demo
I just wonder if, at some point in the next couple months, the Demo might be released to the general public to sample the game. That might squelch some of the concerns old time Diablo players have with the new game. I know that I have very serious concerns with the direction that Jay Wilson and the Devs are taking the game. Perhaps those would be put to rest somewhat. I know I like what I have heard about the Runes and their effects on skills but the Auto Attribute thing, 'Stylized" characters and armors, forced grouping and lack of concrete information on PvP and dueling have more than offset the positives. It seems that they are "dumbing" the game down and killing the replayability that exist in the earlier games.
I would be overjoyed to be so blown away after playing the Demo that all my concerns would be washed away.

posted a message on average game for D2 1.2 players - JW IS WRONG
The other thing that Mr Wilson is ignoring is that the game is old. At it's peek it is likely that there were 10 times as many people playing it as there are now. The number of people per game is likely to have been much higher then. I know I had many people who played back then whom I regularly grouped with for leveling, MFing and questing. They are all gone now.

Jay Wilson is wrong. He is misinterpreting that statistic. The reason why the average game size is 1.2 players is because of magic finding (accumulating rare items). The most popular way to magic find was to make a game and quickly kill a boss like Mephisto. So what people do is make a game, kill Mephisto, quit, and remake. You have thousands of people doing this and the frequency of magic find games becomes very high. Each game only has 1 person in it, the magic finder, so it makes sense that the average game size is around 1.

When people want to level and quest then full games are preferred to maximize the amount of experience gained. People would work together for longer periods of time, even hours when trying to advance through acts, and therefore the frequency of these games is very low.

The fact is that people DID work, quest together, and level together. In HC, questing games were the most difficult to join because they were always full!

To address the average game size of 1.2 players and blame it on hostility and playing killing is wrong. Anyone who seriously played the game knows this. Player killers were something to deal with but everyone would deal with them together. Hostility and playing killing does not take away but adds another dynamic to the game. The real issue for this statistic has nothing to do with player killing, but has everything to do with magic find and loot.

This is so obvious to anyone that has ever played Diablo that it goes without saying. For the Lead Developer not to realize this is mind boggling. So this is the reason to eliminate PK (I don't care) and one reason (the other is lag due to all the new bright new FX)to propose much reduced maximum players per game. Simply amazing.

posted a message on Character Stat Assigning
    Quote from "MajorMoose" »
I Think people should think about other games like God Of War...a mentioned reference for when looking at Diablo III. God of War was an insane game and didn't over complicate shit at all- easy to play, fun to play- and most of all epic.

I think that's the vibe Blizzard is going for. I Didn't give a shit about Kratos' stats...I gave a shit about the different things i could to do to beat the hell out of the bosses/monsters i found. That was a bit limited in God of War - imagine the variety in Diablo III (from the skills systems).

You can still have fun playing an RPG game where you don't have to customize your stats...
God of War had close to Zero customization and one character...

Diablo III is on a larger scale in comparison- I'm happy to play it if it can deliver a great experience with the mentioned classes an systems announced- and not giving 2 shits about something as MINOR as stats.

Now if blizzard said you couldn't choose your own skills... then THAT would be messed up...not all the stupid foaming mouths about auto stats.

No one will remember "God of War" in ten years. People are still playing Diablo after ten years. Is that the kind of success that Blizzard is pursueing? Dumbing down the game will make it easier for first timers to play it but it will also kill the replay value of the game and cut down on the hard core players that will devote time to it for years to come.

Oh wait..........non-subscription game........Blizzard sells a lot of "boxes" initially.........players get bored fast........players have to buy another game (Blizzards?) to feed their gaming needs.............

    AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

posted a message on 4 Players Per game?
How will this affect PvP? Will that be totally separate? It would be a bummer if you can only have 4 in a dueling game.

posted a message on Whoa We Got Noticed
If it takes an extra year to get the character models right then so be it. We have been waiting for years for the D2 successor as it is. The old time diehard Diablo fans want a worthy successor not something that looks like Zelda or WoW. The art panel says that they wanted to make the characters look "Epic". We do not need them to look Epic. We need them to BE Epic. It actually looks better when a small warrior is battling a huge monster and wins against all odds. The armor and weapons should be in proper scale.

Just cause the kiddies love WoW graphics does not mean there is not a whole bunch of other more mature players (with money) out there that won't buy up a ton of games that are not so cutesy. Besides the WoW players will go back to that game after a short stint at playing Diablo 3 anyway. It is just too different from what they know and are comfortable with.

If you want Diablo with cute graphics then play Mythos. Please Blizzard spend the time to get this right!

posted a message on A PvP warzone realm?
This is not a MMO. I do not think large group PvP will be possible. It would be nice however if they could double the number of in game characters that D2 supported from 8 to 16. That would make large scale dueling more fun. We used to have to run two or three games at a time when we had large VLLD tournaments and then consolidate the winners into one game for the finals. Still it was the best time I ever had gaming!
