The logic behind this is that it would be a hell of a mess if there were dozens of different set pieces with different set boni of the same sets out there.

I think this logic could also be said of Legendary items then though right?

I am still of the belief that all renditions of both legendary and set items should retroactively change. Why not? Only thing I can think of on this is blizz typical answer of "because".

How would you do that? Items do not only get buffed, some get changed completely with other affixes. Blizzard doesn't change single items because they don't want players to login after a while and run around with completely different items than when they left.

But it happens with sets, why are legendary items different? It really makes no sense....

What doesn't make sense? Set bonuses are the only thing that is retroactive. I don't see how they can even feasibly change old legs. What do you want? A completely random roll? Oh wait, you want it to be perfect without having to work for it, right?

When last patch hit, I had to hunt for a new Nats bow because it got a RoV dmg% that wasn't on the previous versions... I worked for it and I am not mad about it. I like playing this game because it is fun. If bliz threw the items at me then whats the point in playing.
