Battlenet however will, and LAN play will not be supported...

On top of that, there will be a WoD announced after DIII comes out.

So if Blizzard implements a Battle.net subscription, they'll also be charging D2, SC, and WC3 players as well?

But I'm calling, and in-depth end game PvP feature. Something such as a WoW and Guild Wars arena with 1v1 and team play and such. Strictly dueling, but at a competitive level.

If you look at the screenshots most are dated 2007 meaning they have been working on it therefore + blizz even stated theve been working on it for 4 years but scraped it after 1 year so they redid it so they have been working on for 3 years now so they must have alot done

Having screenshots dating back to 2007 does not mean that it was ready for an announcement. Also, like insats said, they are still hiring quite a few developers for the game still.

Or how about take a look at SC2's development, as we have more information on that. Blizzard started developing SC2 in 2003, after WC3:TFT was announced. SC2 was announced in May 2007. With 4 years of development, and your logic, shouldn't SC2 have been released last Christmas? Yet, we are most likely seeing a SC2 release date, the earliest of Q4 2008.

edit: http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10255 Kiserai stated it better than I have.

You do realize that late October is about 4 months away.

Blizzard still hasn't released any information regarding the other 3 classes.
Blizzard still hasn't released any information regarding the other acts/lore.
    Blizzard still hasn't begun public/private alpha/beta testing.
Blizzard still hasn't implemented balance and technical issues from the alpha/beta testing.

4 months to do all of that?

My guess is, either release date on June 28/29th 2009, as an anniversary commemoration to the Diablo franchise.

Or a release in the 4th Quarter of 2009, as logically higher sale figures come out of that quarter.

edit: oops got the years wrong.

I would love to see a competative area of D3, maybe 1v1 arenas or team battles or something. I know that this would borrow ideas implemented from WoW's arena, but I have to give it to WoW's PvP features.

I can assure you that Blizzard is taking a look at these forums and letting these ideas influence their decisions. I can tell you, personally, that changes do happen based on fan input. I've been pretty active on the teamliquid forums (SC2) and they made countless threads on the design of the seige tank and the viability of some units. And sure enough, after a couple of weeks, the changes were made. That is to say, that there was plenty of discussion in the forums about the topics, and the changes were actually logical.

Plus, the game was only announced last weekend, Blizzard hasn't had enough time to discuss and implement the topics brought up in this forum. Just wait.

Oh yeah, I also came up with a couple of other questions, you don't have to answer all of them if you don't want to give out too much personal information over the interwebs, but:

Would you be willing to pay for a monthly subscription for D3? SC2?

Would you be willing to pay for a monthly subscription package for D3, SC2, and WotLK given a discount?

What age category best fits you?
    10-18
    19-25
    26-35
    36+

Are you employed? ie. Would you be going to your parents to pay for your monthly subscriptions.

And lastly, Flareon, Jolteon, or Vaporeon?

I was kind of interested in the marketing team of Blizzard so I thought I'd do a little marketing analysis of the gamers interested in D3. Please be honest :) I know it would work better if I made polls, but too many questions = too many polls = too many threads. This might help Blizzard's marketing team, but I doubt it. Oh, and I know this information is going to be slightly off, cause this is a D3 forum. But thanks.

Pick one category of gaming that you feel best describes your favorite type of gameplay:
    Hack & Slash
    MMORPG
    RTS
    FPS
    RPG

    Do you consider yourself a:
    Hardcore gamer
    Casual gamer

Are you willing to buy D3 for:
    $50
    $60
    $70

    Will you be purchasing:
    SC2
    WotLK

    Would you rather purchase:
    one game at a time
    multiple games at a time

Would you be interested in a package of SC2/WotLK/D3 for 10% retail price ($50/game)?

    Do you like mudkips?

What if they sold the games together as a package, It would have more sales and then some due to the fact that people are not going to buy both but now they are forced to. Huge Huge profits right there with a simple idea. Called it the Bnet package.

First, people are not interested in getting all three games together. Personally, I have no interest in getting WotLK, so therefore, buying the 'Bnet package' is totally a waste of money. I am sure most of the gaming population feels the same way. The general population is not wililng to spend $130+ in one purchase for three games, of which they will only play one at a time.

Also, by introducing WotLK into the package, it means its basically discriminating non-WoW players because only WoW players will benefit from this package (if the combined price is lower than what it would cost for all three games to be sold separately). Non-WoW players will be forced to pay extra money for a game that they would not play. This 'Bnet package' caters to only a small market segment; WoW players who are interested in playing SC2 and D3 and are willing to drop $130+ upfront. And that is SMALL. If Blizzard forces consumers to pay for product features that they will not use, Blizzard's market share will only be to those who either are hardcore gamers or are wealthy.

Another reason is the fact that if they were to sell all three games together, it would only be logical to cut costs of the retail price. True, Blizzard would save a little bit of money by reduced packaging costs, less shipping per unit costs due to decreased volume, and etc. But, that strategy is not viable for a release. The demand will be high for the games, so why reduce profits per game when Blizzard releases the titles? Blizzard will be able to sell the games at $50-60 per game with the same effort as selling the games at $40 per game in a combined package. That is to say if consumers were willing to pay $130+ in one purchase. Which most likely they are not.

And lastly, would you pay for the 'Bnet package'? Are you a WoW player who is also interested in playing SC2 and D3, and willing to pay $130+ upfront?

EDIT: If it IS like the Orange Box, then I would not recommend it either. The Orange Box works because all the games that comes in it all cater to the same market segment: FPS gamers. However, this 'Bnet package' has components of multiple game genres. The amount of money that Blizzard will put into advertising, promotion, publicity, packaging, etc. will not be reimbursed by the sales that they will make from this package, as the percentage interested in this package would be, I would guess, around 1-2% of the gaming population. The majority of Blizzard's sales will come from selling and advertising to the general population. Blizzard, as a company, is looking for ROI, and focusing to a small market segment surely isn't.
