I think its sad people are ignoring/putting down your comment. I think this is some of the best evidents against it being Diablo yet.
omg, this is going to be so annoying, its only 11am in australia so i gotta wait another 13 hours before its midnight, you guys will hear the news way before me
I agree, you can't just change out the characters and the landscape and call it Diablo. It will NEED to play differently then wow. Still, i think MMO can work.
Blizzard has again and again portrayed that they are working on the "Next-Gen MMO" (that is not related to Warcrack.) Of course we know about StarCraft II, though I can't imagine them releasing two models on the same franchise at once. Even disregarding that, could “Universe of StarCraft” separate itself enough from its brother to warrant being its own MMO? I have my doubts. Of course if we set aside Starcraft for now, all eyes naturally land on Diablo.
I could easily see Blizzard turning Diablo into an MMO. Diablo II played very much like a typical MMO; we leveled, trained, looted monsters and even teamed up for quests. If you ask me, Diablo seems more suited for MMO then WarCraft ever was. I know I don't speak for myself when I say I would appreciate a game without a monthly fee. Yet, if this is how we get our next Diablo, you know ill be playing

And you know what you get when you continue the pattern past SC2!
