Made this build after playing Fire Woh for months in RoS launch. Needed the elemental change. This does well to cc, group mobs together, and provide you time to get LoH back if you get caught with your pants down. Needs a Woh though.
I made a lightning Woh build on here that might help. You can use the stacking damage percent gem (forget the name) with enough cdr to always get max stacks. I almost never use Energy Twister because in open areas it gets frustrating quickly. The powerful bane gem is the most popular since none of the other gems really offer anything for Woh builds. A lot of my rift runs came down to being able to avoid cc and whether or not I could consistently hit mobs to get my life on hit back. Spectral blade works really well, but the fire rune for chain lightning is very powerful for LoH imo. Try those out and see if you have any luck.
I recently switched to mirror images with 1 good cc like black hole and I've been able to debuff mobs while grouping them together for the short range on EB.
I disagree with djonka. In group play this would do tons. Especially if you got to see where you placed in the group. I would use this to smack talk the hell out of my friends and that would drive us all competitively. Plus the min/maxer's would get a kick out of seeing how well they do by using different strategies (nothing but elites, every mob, only big packs, etc.) It would be very nice to see this.
