to my understanding - when using certain combination of skills on live, there was a bug that locked the attack speed of the turret to 1.0, regardless of weapon attack speed, or any bonus to attack speed on gear. In 2.1 that has been fixed. As for weapon choice, thats really preference.... some people prefer the additional 50% CHD from archery passive, some people prefer the CC + faster hatred regen with handcrossbows.
