Hi all - I know next to nothing about monk. My gf and I play together.. and I'm a pet WD, while she's a Monk.
We were having fun for a while, but she's been getting annoyed and bored now.. problem is she feels that she kills too slow. Everything I've read so far seems to indicate that monk is often relegated to a support role... She wants to keep playing monk (she likes how the character looks), but she's losing patience. I came here to look up builds.. and I see "exploding palm" monk, as well as some fire/lightning builds. But I'm not sure what the gameplay is like for these builds.
I'm kind of lost on what to do as a WD. I just started playing a few weeks ago.. and have hit 70 and started grinding out content on my WD. Just hit 100 paragon, and started getting some set drops and unique legendaries. I asked some random people in game "is this any good?".. and it comes down to my build.
From what I've gathered.. there's two main builds. Pet and Jade. I'm Pet right now because some guy told me to the day I hit 70, so I blindly followed. And I guess it was good advice because Pet has been really easy to play w/ very little gear. But as I'm reaching the point where I want to start aiming for specific items (esp w/ Kadala), it seems time I settle on a build.
And so I came here.. and found a sticky w/ lots of builds. And.. it was pretty Greek to me. The builds focus on gear, but I'm looking to find a build to gear towards.. so it doesn't work for me! So then I figure... a build defines the playstyle. But I can't find too much to describe the various builds and playstyle.
So.. can anyone help me w/ this? I'm on T2 now and with Pet.. it's all about my pets. I stand far away and spam toads.. but really that's it. Jade.. is that more like a wizard? Do you run into a mass and blast it all away? Or is more about hit and run tactics? Do you stand melee/mid/far away? And what are the other builds?
