Well I don't know if I can post here or not... But anyway, I agree with that what Magistrate said about the graphics, they should definately gonna update the colour scheme in some areas for a better feeling of darkness.

Personally I found the art choices ok, taking into account Nintendo did the same with TLoZ:WW and it was still a kick-ass game. I just hope they actually change some aspects of the art, especially when it comes to skeletons, just look at the artwork trailer and you can see they have a clear Warcraft essense to them, they don't look evil, as they did on the previous games and that is something which needs to be addressed asap. From the trailers I believe we all can see the game's potential and even though it's graphics are less-than-gothic, as long as they actually scare us with some of the major bosses' appearance, Blizzard will achieve one of its greatest games.

    PS: What's this gaunlet thing?
PPS: Damn, Blizzard never ceases to amaze me with cinematics... ahh only if the game had that graphics...

I guess, but I imagine it is a different job (in proportions) being mod for the whole diablofans.com from being part of a committee for a segregated, discussion-only subforum. I mean, I think it would mostly be used in times of these devasting news and announcements, and all the members will still use the common forums on less populated times. I like to think of it as a shelter for older members against spam and floods.

    Sheesh... I'm afraid of heights.

Haha, you should have been used to it by now... you've been there for a good while I think. In any case, if no one volunteers, you're my first choice for mod there lol.

Seems alright to me, I'm just hoping it works well. I can imagine how much work it will be for some of the committee to receive so much responsability, I'd like to see how many would actually volunteer to the job.

Then there is that idea of monthly invitations, what do you think? I mean that's not to burocratize anything, but actually to keep a roughly constant numbers of additions to the forum, and also to give everyone else a little suspense every month. ><

Edit. I stand corrected by Elfen on th monthly invitations, thought it was just easier to give all the names to him once a month, keeping the amount of work relatively smaller during the rest of the month.

Right, let's suppose the clan forums are to be done through th formation of a comitee. How many members do we think this comitee needs? I'd say about 10 members. I'd leave it for Jetrall and Elfen to decide on them.

Onto requirements: well personally I'd say 500 posts is ok, will take me some time to get there but oh well life's harsh anyway. Hm dunno if it's possible but could it be invitation only? I think it would be nice and not too hard for you mods if people were invited to this forum only once a month, so that there was plenty of time for the comitee to discuss on the members to be invited, etc.

And this metaphor is useless, because when you are born you lack the skills needed to argue. New members do not.

You're looking from the wrong point of view, it's not about ability to argue, it's about respecting others and learning how to join a discussion in the terms given by the people who were there before you, and respecting them.

Anyway if Elfen says the clan forum is the best thing he can do, I support it's creation. It will probably have a slow beginning but in time it will fulfill its potential. Just one reminder for those who will be joining, please try to use this clan forum just for hype-generated threads and news, the worst case scenario is that you'll stop posting on normal forums. Although I trust it won't happen, it's here just in case. ^^

Wow, I never thought this idea would create such debate... anyway, it's quite late in Brazil and I'm pretty tired so I will only adress a few points about this all.

Firstly, I'd like to state that the idea is actually to segregate newcomers from senior members, and so, when I posted this idea, I was aware of how some people who are actually constructive argumenters would be left out because of how new they are. Well put this as a metaphor to life, when you're a child, even though you can be very interested and even slightly educated on some subjects, you simply cannot easily join an adult conversation on that subject. Usually the most you do is sit quiet and listen.

Secondly, date. Why did I choose that. You could take that same metaphor and use it again here, but that wasn't what came in my mind. First of all, I decided not to use post count because of spammers, eventually they would reach the requirement and simply be able to spoil the segregated forum. Also I did not mention the user group, well Elfen said it himself, it would just be too much work for the admins and mods. Anyway, password, yeah that's a possibility but eventually the members would feel like their responsability to invite new people to the forum and things could get messy there, no more needed to say on that. Finally date, why date? Well basically because I find the fairest way of all. When I wrote the 1 month age, I was putting a simbolic number, it could be an year or so, anything. The main idea is, hype spammers normally join only during these teaser times, and so they leave the community for some time. No one seemed to realise my other question was relevant to this. If there is an expiring date for an account, these spammers would be kept outside the forum permanently, given their older accounts have been deleted, on the other hand, the ones who were actually accepted and received by the community will now be more used to the rules and thus able to join on a more organised discussion at the Senior's Forum. This would also elimitate the problem with people who wished to be accepted, they will eventually, but they just need to show commitment to the community. Magistrate's idea on considering post count is good, but maybe that would need the reputation factor added to it, in order to balance out less constructive members from really good ones. Anyway that would be hard to be done though, so I stick with the idea that age is the most effective filter.

Reason for a separate forum: Phrozen has pretty much said it all. I hated this week because I think it would be so much more interesting to see some of the older member's interpretation on the teasers. Also the seniors would not be less involved to the forums. Visibility to the members was something I did not go into because making it a hidden forum would be slightly unfairer to the newer members, afterall they also want to know our ideas. Oh yeah, and of course, some senior member can always take something from the spammed commom forum which can be considered of relevance and post it on the more privative forum and vice-versa.

Well I can't get any more ideas at the moment, too tired, once I get back, I might post more and discuss this better with you.

PS. Damn it feels good to be responsible for a discussion of such proportion and involving so many recognised members...

Yeah I know one month is stupid and all, but I'm just trying to include myself in this supposed forum, while being discrete bout it lol I could say 6 months or ever higher than that, but where would I fit? lol

Anyway, my main point was actually creating a more exclusive forum for the older community to discuss the news (any news) without worrying about newcomers spamming around or any other intrusions. A password would be an idea, but then how would you select the people to tell without being unfair? Also, it would be a lot harder for the mods to make sure only members they approve are allowed to join, and if they did not do that, how would you prevent someone telling everyone else the passwords? The forum age filter was an idea just to prevent that, at the same time making sure that even though everyone would eventually be allowed to join, it would take long enough for them to prove they actually wish to be part of the community.

Oh yeah and actually I decided not to suggest using post numbers because anyone can go there and post lots of crap **spam**, also it would not be fair to those which hardly ever post, but are old members.

Hm never read anything about it so:

    44.
Maybe a section devoted to older members (a month or more).

This would at least help everyone who's a serious member to debate in times of flooding... not to mention it would almost certainly be less suceptive to bots and other kinds of spam... also, I don't know about this but is there a time limit for people who don't get online for some time to get online, otherwise getting their account deleted?

No problem. I do know that it's hard ;] The guilt is neither yours nor that guy. I meant those guys who posts the same pictures over and over again. You write that i could get out if i don't like. Well, we all know that everybody reads what's going on here, even they don't like all the crap, it's stronger than sth what i like or not ;]

I really prefer to read those all funny theories with people making a pizza when i can see a scratch on the ice than to see same pictures on every page with the same theories. And i will add sth to this. At first, when people did some funny stuff, for example when they pasted some link and wrote "It's Diablo!!!" and there was singing Elvis or stuff, but now it's going to be tiring. Very tiring. All this hype, and you want to find some small detail which could reveal the truth, you see a link where sb write "wow, diablo!! 100% true!" and there is singing banana... Sb writes about Lost Vikings. Well, in the beginning it was funny, now it's pathethic (coz i seen it 1000 times).

I don't know how it looks like abroad. But in my country (Poland) we call such people who can only spam "Trolls" (you do as well) and "Neo kids". A lot of them here, although sometimes they are so stupid that make me laugh :P But only sometimes heh.

    cheers, and no offense m8!

None taken man, I also apologise for anything because as I was writing I began to put down some stuff which are directed to everyone, so I think it ended up a little more harsh than it should, so if you check I actually edited it a little in the end because that goes for everyone, so please don't take it personally lol. Yeah, you said what most of the true members of this forum feel at this moment, and we go the mods to thank for cleaning this up. So anyway I hope people read our posts at least to get the feeling of how forum members are affected by high trolling exposure...

PS. I'd like to suggest that there was some kind of separate forum for older members to discuss these teasers, etc where there was no risk of trolling.. dunno if its in the suggestions but I'll go look around and make a thread there just in case, thanks.

One question tho.. what happened with Vivendi-Activision deal?
Do you think all this buzz has anything to do with it?

Apparently not, these events are still held by Blizzard as a separate company, next year though, it may be another very different story.

Yea... very interesting. Too bad that it was already said (by me lol). But that's nevermind, coz it was said only one time. But people, if you read some thread and you have an intention to write ANYTHING. Better read EVERYTHING before you do it. Coz when i see this crap which is repeating on every site, i'm about to faint lol.

The forum is great indeed. But as far as i have noticed, many people here simply can't read. And one more i discovered. That they see walking men when there is nothing on the picture ;] Too many mushrooms.

    cheers

Lol sorry dude, but it's kinda hard remembering all the posts, and with such fast-paced increase on the numbers of pages, I'm sorry I didn't mention your post, and moreover it is usually a bad thing to bring up something written and left behind almost unnoticed. I only wrote that much because there was nothing more constructive to say at that moment.

Personally I can see the letters coming to POWNED with 2 days still to go (seen there mey be 2 updades on the last day). Anyway there were some interesting theories and the one which chame from the supposed Blizzard worker seems to be the best one so far about today's rune and the meaning of all this. At the moment, people are just going through the same arguments over and over again, and I (and most of the older members, especially those which have been here for even longer) see no reason to try and argue with you because, it seems that, as you said, people do not read, not because they can't, but because they don't want to, which is very understandable, seen the hype there is around. Just don't come complaining about a short post which was there only to congratulate on someone's find, and even if it was yours, you should feel congratulated too, no one here is stupid enough to think only one person can realise something. Finally, yes people see whatever they want in situations like this, everyone should expect that, and if anyone feels like not reading any of it, just don't mind it or get out.
