Trading in Diablo 3: As I've already stated twice here and at least once at the official Diablo 3 forums.
TRADE CITY(s)
Anyone who has played Diablo 1 & 2 can tell you it takes 10+ hours of gameplay to obtain a single piece of the armor set you are looking for let alone that dream weapon.
A trade city or cities would relieve players of this burden from the previous Diablos. Instead of making your own game entitled the name of what you are looking for (dozens of times), and joining dozens of other trade games all players that wish to trade instead of actively questing in the game can join together in this trade city. It will not be a chat-room or a place to show off but players will also use it as that. The difference between this trade city should be the number of players that are allowed to join possibly 100+ as opposed to a mere 8 as seen in Diablo 2.

It will take 5 years but it would sell.
I agree there should be more diablo-like games, the only I've seen that even come close are pooly made korean games, Personally I'd like a fan to build a mmorpg diablo world similar to Ultima Online, preferably be 2d but interactive with player housing and everything yes it will not happen anytime soon I can dream. -
Aug 10, 2008Razimus posted a message on Diablo 3 Art Director ResignsArt Director is a big position, it's the same position Richard Garriott had for Ultima Online before he left, lets hope there isn't a curse on the team from el diablo himself you think the devil would want this game out but since his ass is kicked in statuette form already he might be a little pissed. I was planning on buying a new computer just for Diablo 3, maybe I should wait a while...Posted in: News

Cities/Party Member only Outside (Guildwars), Party Member Only World (Diablo II). This is a very simple question, and the answer can be a combo, maybe it's been answered before but I have not read any clear answers concerning this, and the concrete answer of this question will define the popularity of the game overall beyond any nitpick questions concerning character classes and items. -

With the outdoor environments we felt we could get a lot more out of them by crafting large and visually impressive scenes, which random map generation really just doesn't allow for all that well. By that same token one of the main goals with Diablo III is to flesh out Sanctuary, to make it feel more like you're in this living and breathing world. With towns shifting around everywhere you do sort of lose a sense of cohesion, and an attachment to the places you're visiting.
On a very slight technical note - for random map generation you're essentially creating a bunch of rooms that can all fit together in various ways. It works quite well for a dungeon which is essentially a series of rooms any way. For an outdoor environment though it tends to make it either fairly bland, or fairly linear just by how the edges have to line up. You're either running zig-zag patterns to find the map edges, or you're running down a narrow pathway. Neither are extremely compelling, and at the same time you're losing the visual grandness that could come from a fully hand-crafted and artistically realized environment.
That said, the outdoor areas aren't completely static.
So the dungeons are random, and the outdoor world is static, having a map, yet not completley static at the same time? Btw future players, this is the one single most important part of the game, so quit asking stupid questions about your non existant characters items and attacks. I've played diablo since 1997 the week it was released, waiting for phase 1 beta of UO to start, and I always wanted it to be an explorable static world, at least beyond what diablo 1 & 2 had, I'm happy to hear it at least has a map and has static portions, the more static the map, the better, yes a static map can get boring after a while but I've played diablo 2 long enough to know the only thing more boring is a non-static map, I have a question that hopefully will be answered, and I haven't really posted here since it was diablo3.com but how will the bandwidth be displaced, will it be quasi mmorpg like guildwars? with the large cities housing many players, and only party members can journey outward, and what will the party member limit be to journey with, or will it be more like UO?, or neither, will it be just like diablo 2 in it's multiplayability? The exact answer to this will have a greater toll than any details about any of the character abilities classes or any other details. -

This is a good idea, trading, who wouldn't go to this trade center, you can't exactly trade in a chat room, but this trade capitol is exactly the type of thing I would like to see, also I'm sure tons of players would go there just to show off their full set of whatever the heck is the best armor, those that mock this idea, you know if it existed they would be the biggest fans of this city, you all know how hard it is to trade something, just open diablo 2, you have to start you own game, name it after whatever your selling, and wait 10 minutes, only a few people show up and leave, and you end up having to join someone else's more popular trade game, this trade land is exactly what Diablo III needs, I don't know if the Diablo 3 Team has already considered this or not, but it does appear that the online aspects will vary a bit from the previous two Diablos from this statement...
My version of an 'all-new wickedly enhanced Battle.net platform with numerous enhancements' would include this trade-city, or possibly trade-cities, maybe they would need 10, with a maximum of x number of users.

If it's 3d and corpg it will be guildwars and I probably won't like it, if it's 3d and mmorpg it will be over 10 bucks a month and I won't play it.

I played the original Diablo since day one, I actually remember playing for 2 months before cheats were exploited, it was fun killing 2 guys that challenged me, looking back on it especially since no cheats were involved, I played Diablo mostly while waiting for UO's beta to begin, but I got Diablo 2 when it came out and had fun with it, the complexity of UO was nothing like Diablo yet, Diablo always had a dark style I liked, even the music is dark, knowing UO is dead my only hope is to see Diablo 3.
My dream version of Diablo 3 would continue to be two dimensional, 3rd person perspective but have a massive explorable world and instead of being a corpg be a legit mmorpg with a huge open map to explore both above and below, I'm a sucker for player ownable houses (sounds lame but that's what seperates a detailed game from every other game, and not an instanced house either an actual house visible by all), which is unlikely but this is my dream version, no monthly fee of course would be the icing on the cake.
Now my nightmare version of Diablo 3 would be the following, a 3d clone of every other 3d mmorpg or corpg already out there, even if it's free it would just be guildwars, and guidwars was great for 2 months but after that it gets old.
I'll do all I can to help d3 become a reality.
