I want to try the one I have, but I can't harness it's power effectively because I don't have a lot of good lightning gear (Mykens, VC, Thundergod's Vigor).
I have the Wand of Woh, Mirrorball, and new Depth Diggers on PTR, so I run a MM + EB build.
I'm here to say that having both is actually pretty awesome, especially MM with the new Depth Diggers.
I gave away the only Serpent Sparker I found 2 months ago because I saw no use for it. I wish I had kept it now to at least try it out, but no big deal, I guess I'll just have to find a SS and a WoW on live (my current WoW is PTR only, still quite bitter about that).
Switch to the TF and put the emerald in there. You'll do about 20% more regular DPS than the gemmed SK without the legendary proc, and that's both to elites and trash.
Let's assume you deal 1M DPS on non-critical hits, and weight the damage you do.
With +10% Critical hit chance (to 60%): DPS = [ 1,000,000*(0.4) + 1,000,000*(0.6)*5.51] = 3,706,000 DPS. Your multiplier for critical hit damage is 5.51 since you do base damage (100%) plus the extra critical hit damage (451%), which adds up to 551%.
With +20% Fire Skill: [ 1,000,000*(0.5) + 1,000,000*(0.5)*5.51]*1.2 = 3,906,000 DPS. Fire damage raises both critical and non-critical hit damage.
Conclusion: Fire skill will add about 5% DPS in your case. Your paper DPS will drop, though, until Blizzard figures out how to factor elemental damage into DPS calculations. The calculation above only works if your only fire bonus is 20%, though.
