posted a message on Φ Imperius - The true threat to Sanctuary?
I havent read every single post in this thread, but I havent noticed much talk of the possibility that the angel could be Inarius. I havent read all of the books so maybe there is something in one of the books i havent read that could sum up why it may not be a valid theory.

I have read the Sin War Trilogy, Demonsbane, and The Black Road. At the end of the Sin War trilogy Mephisto took Inarius to hell to torture to make up for Mephistos loss of both Lucion and Lilith.

They also all agreed that they would set back everyone's memories so they would not remember the Sin War and also took away there powers (except for Mendelyn). And both Hell and Heaven agreed to not do anything to influence Sanctuary so they could be observed and live out their lives as they had chosen. To "seal the deal" Mephisto left his mark at the base of what was the Cathedral of Light I believe.

Seeing as Inarius built Sanctuary and the Worldstone and Sanctuary seems to be such a vital ground to take in the battle of heaven vs hell. I would imagine Hell would take advantage of having the maker of Sanctuary in their posession and either bribe or torture him to get whatever useful information he may have.

Nobody seemed to know what would happen if the worldstone was destroyed, but i would imagine if anyone would know it would be the person who created it.

I noticed in one of the pictures when the angel has come down there appear to be symbols below his feet. Perhaps they are the symbols from when Mephisto left his mark and the reason the angel landed there is because that is the place where he left.

I dont know. I am kind of rambling at this point. Im at work right now. Ill try to collect my thoughts and post a more cohesive thought later if this is too jumbled.

Here are some more job postings they currently have up... also they are all for the Irvine area. It would be nice to see this announced at Blizzcon, but since they are hiring for character artists and environment artists i am thinking even if announced its going to be a long wait before we actually get hands on time with the new Diablo.

The team behind Diablo I and II is looking for a skilled Senior 3D Character Artist. The ideal candidate has experience modeling and texturing a diverse visual range of characters and creatures. A solid grasp of form, structure, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets is essential. The Character Artist should be skilled in at least one other form of art production as well – illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, concept drawing – and be well-versed in related tools – Maya, Photoshop, etc. The ideal candidate also works well in an environment with peers that are passionate about making great games.

Blizzard, the developer of Diablo and Diablo II, is looking for a 3D Background Artist skilled at creating models and texture maps for both architectural structures and natural environments. 3D Artists assist in the design and creation of objects and characters that populate the environment, using programs such as Maya, and participate in game design with the rest of the team. The ideal candidate has outstanding skill in both modeling and texturing of background objects and environments. Blizzard offers a fun, creative, and technically rewarding environment with excellent compensation and a full range of benefits.

It seems literally every job they have posted that doesnt have a WoW or Starcraft Icon next to it has a reference to Diablo 1 and 2 in the job description. This seems to be a big red flag that are hopes and dreams are going to come true and a new diablo is on its way!

I do not know if anyone else has seen this. But I found this on Blizzards website.

Lead 3D Environment Artist Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of Diablo and Diablo II, is looking for a lead 3D environment artist skilled at creating models and texture maps for both architectural and natural environments. The ideal candidate has experience modeling and texturing assets for a diverse visual range of environments. A solid grasp of form, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets is essential. The lead environment artist must have experience leading a team and have a skill in another art task as well (illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, or concept drawing) and be well-versed in related tools -- Maya, Photoshop, etc. The ideal candidate works well in an environment of peers who are passionate about making great games.

To me why would Blizzard point out that they are the developer of Diablo and Diablo 2 if this position wasn't involving something regarding that. To me they would be more likely to say something about WoW or Starcraft otherwise.
