posted a message on Stat points - issues and solutions?
You can easily modify this method by making the main stats do more, giving the secondary stats less value etc. As long as the secondary stats are not something you depend on but bonuses

I wanted to edit my post but I can't find any options for it so

Thats because your not looking at it the right way... Let me try to paint a better picture

Imagine what you mentionned in your post with Critical Chance, Speed, Dodge as Secondary Stats
and HP and Main stat as a locked constant

    Barbarian:

    (locked)
Main Stat - Strength (each point raises damage by 2 and HP by 5)

( x point per level to distribute )
    Secondary Stats -

    Critical Chance
    Dodge
    Speed
    Resist

posted a message on Stat points - issues and solutions?
I have a simple solution to this problem

Why not just put 1 stat that is completly locked and automatic for every class, it would do something different for each one. Lets call it,

    Main Stat

Barbarian it could be something like strength that boost damage
    Wizard - spell damage etc.

That stat would be automatic and locked, you wouldn't be able to change it

Then you would have Secondary stats that you would be able to fully customize

Every armor and weapon would be tied to the Main Stat

posted a message on Flagship Studios Closing
The only problem that Flagship suffered from is being overly ambitious. They wanted to do too much with the small budget and team they had.

Anyone calling them greedy is being ridiculous, unlike big name companies Flagship only has one real title and they have supported it greatly even though it's not the success they hoped. Just look at the patch notes and compare them to Tabula Rasa which came out at the same time. NCsoft only kept a few of the programmers to make patches and Flagship seems to have kept almost all of them.

posted a message on anyone annoyed with the little floating numbers?
I wouldn't mind except for the fact that they distract from the main action a little. The game isn't about who does the highest critical hit but about killing lots and lots of monsters with body parts flying all around you. I don't want numbers hovering over my bodyparts, it takes away from the immersion.

And that's coming from a number addict, I love MMOs, final fantasy games and such. I used to do mental calculation for fun when I was younger! (Not kidding, I'm a math geek) :)

It just doesn't have it's place in an action rpg like Diablo

Completly agree, it would be great if modding tools were included. I doubt it would be released as such because it would require more work from the developers but it would be a huge boon in an expansion along the line.

If they don't make mod tools then they should at least make it easily moddable. One of the most fun aspect in Fate is modding. Even a complete noob can do it because it's all in txt files.

posted a message on D3 development less than 20% ?
Even if it was 20% done, that would mean Content wise, the engine is done, the graphics are pretty much done, the classes are all made and playable. The other 80% content is a piece of cake to make compared to the rest. The most time consuming part that's left is bug fixing and polishing.

Making content is nothing when the core is done, hell just look at NWN2, they included a mod tool and 2-3 persons can make a 3-4 hours adventure in a few months. Imagine what a team of 50+ professionals could do

true... I guess that the reason they make it so hard to mod is to prevent easy cheating on battlenet. I didn't think about that. Making it safe and moddable would probably take a lot more work. I'd rather they focus on cheat prevention than that, a lot more people would play on battlenet if it wasn't such a hacking heaven

posted a message on No support for modding...
How come no one has mentionned modding in D3 yet? The Diablo 2 modding community was huge and I think D2 was hardcoded. (was it?)

Making D3 more moddable would open the door to even more replayability and I'm sure a lot of people would love being able to make their own monsters, items etc.

Has anything been said about it or is it still too early to tell?

posted a message on 14 towns minimum in Diablo III
They said in an interview video that a lot of the towns will only be talked about, referenced to and see some small things about them. (Like an animation and such)

So we won't be able to go to all of them, I'm guessing around half maybe

This website has turned to shit, it's unbelievable. You call that non biased? This was the worst piece of crap comment on what the majority (yes, the MAJORITY) of diablo fans want. I've only seen one person on this forum agree with the arguments that their refuting in this article and no one cares about him, on either side.

I am very close on the fence, I love the game which makes up in coloring by having a better gameplay, animations etc. etc. BUT this does not mean that the atmosphere is right!!! This is not a Diablo background!

Ha screw it, I didn't even care about the wowish graphics anymore but you guys keep shoving it in our faces and making us look like fanatics when only 1% of us are. F*** this place if we can't even say something is not to our liking and have an opinion, you guys are freaking yaysayers that think everything is perfect with the world no matter what.

posted a message on Graphics card for diablo III
Actually, check tomshardware, the new ATI cards are actually better than Nvidia in the price per performance ratio. Wait a few weeks for them to get released.

    Radeon HD4870

That's what I'm probably gonna get in a few months personally. But if it's only for Diablo 3 then you should wait to know when it's released. You also need a PCI-Express slot, so if your computer is too old you won't be able to.

Check their Graphic Chart for all the cards, best computer review site I know

nzkobc : And those that don't want change will never agree for such a drastic change, we need to find a realistic approach that won't delay the game and will make the most people happy.

Of course, it won't be us that find it but Blizzard. We're just voicing our opinion and hoping they'll understand what we want and make us cry with joy :)

The first one makes the spell effects look more vibrants and colorful, yes, but the second one gets rid of half the colors.

The pictures do look epic nzkobc but I don't think they'd work in a live game environment. And they remove a bit too much color from the world, something the other side doesn't want removed.
