Just ran into this bug myself. It happened right when I hit my horse button and got jailed at exactly the same time. I have AC, and I rarely use it, but I can't remember if that played into that. Luckily it was right after I got a conduit shrine, so everything around me died anyway. Only way to fix was to log out (couldn't even town portal). And no, I don't run shield bash.
Oh yeah, but I didn't appear as a corpse, though. Mine just had me stuck in place, and I didn't even come close to dying. Maybe we're talking about two bugs?
