Really enjoying the game so far, esp with my WD, I am coming up on end-game Normal difficulty and thinking ahead to when I play through the second time. I do not plan on playing Inferno solo, I want to group up to get that part of the experience as well. Have you all found that playing in a group more beneficial to spec for straight DPS almost the same as solo, or spec'ing for a more "utility" spec, taking the talents that increase party attk speed/power and dps secondary.
I did do a quick once-over on the forum and only found DPS specs, mostly for solo'ing, so if this has been covered already, please point me in the right direction. Thanks for any tips you have! :3
For grouping (Not inferno, so take it however you want) I'm running a lot of minions and mass confusion. WD honestly only need 2 skills for offense and spirit walk (Because it's OP) The rest should depend on your team. A melee heavy team might not want any minions getting in the way, while a squishy team might rely on them completely.
Mana starts to be more of an issue around level 30, so you'll have to keep that in mind too.
I'm on Hell right now and the CC skills are already really really short. I use Hex (mostly for the heal) and it only works for about a second. I think a "full support" spec would be horrible.
I'm currently lvl 39 and in ACT II of nightmare. Primarily running with a wizard and barbarian. My build focuses a lot on AOE damage and CC for the group, while not in a boss fight.
Primary/Spam: Firebomb (Fire Pit)
Right Click: Grasp of the Dead (Desperate Grasp) ---Needed for CC
1: Plague of Toads (Rain of Toads)
2: Zombie Charger (Wave of Zombies) or Wall of Zombies (Unrelenting Grip)
3: Acid Rain (Lob Blob Bomb)
4: Gargantuan (Restless Giant)
This is probably an unusual build and I haven't really played around with other things yet. If the range of the firebats/locust swarm was larger I'd be using both of these, but you have to get too close for my liking.
Any comments on my build are certainly welcome, as I'm sure it's nowhere close to perfect.
Hell is really hard compared to previous difficulties. You cant just run in to a group spamming dire bats and expect to live after act 1. Also 3x Champions and Rares mess up up big time.

Which is why you use dire bats opposed to every other nuke WD has, it's the only one with range.

Just focus on damage and have 1-2 support skills.
