Blizzard has said many many times before that they hold complete control over what games they make, how those games are made, how long they take to make, what platform they will release them on and when it's considered "done".
Anyone would be a fool to step in and mess with the receipe that Blizzard is working with. Everyone knows that whatever it is that they do behind closed doors, works. It works better then anyone else in the industry. A smart man who buys out Blizzard would say " Good job, keep doing whatever it is that you do!".
The President and CEO of Activision Blizzard is going to be Bobby Kotick of Activision.
But otherwise, yes, I'm sure you're right.

That said, I can totally see Diablo 3 being made for consoles, since the game only needs to be played with one hand they could easily modify the 360's controller to support it. Having inventory items stackable and take up a single slot instead of the Tetris nonsense in previous games helps big time, too.
The only thing that worries me about a Diablo 3 console game is the Battle.net support. Will Microsoft allow it or is everyone who plays it on the console gonna be forced onto XBox Live? It's crap compared to what Blizzard has in store.
Seriously, I wouldn't mind seeing Diablo introduced to a whole new group of gamers. It only helps to expand its popularity. So long as some executive doesn't decide that sequels/expansions to Diablo for the PC don't need to be made for the PC anymore because they're "not as profitable" or because "the PC is dead!"
Judging from what Blizzard's executives had to say, I'm pretty sure they'll never let that happen.
Please, I really hope nobody listens to you. I cannot even begin to imagine the hatred I would have if this would happen. Blizzard games are classics and they belong on the PC.
And what you said "Seriously, I wouldn't mind seeing Diablo introduced to a whole new group of gamers." is absolutely out of the question.
However this is totally agreable
I just hope with all these new chiefs in the house they let Blizzard stay true to it's roots. I'd hate to see some numbskull from outside Blizzard get the idea that they're gonna "improve" some it's games.
Blizzard needs to stay as it was -
- I'm sure it will mean better profits for both companies (even if they are merged) to just not change one another.
The merging could be a good or bad thing. We will have to wait.
However. Diablo 3 IS capable of running onto a 360. You could even use a Keyboard and Mouse if you wanted. Ever heard of XFPS? It allows you to play 360 games with keyboard and mouse. Now if blizzard made something like this that had all the settings built into the device for a keyboard and mouse, then it would be possible. They would most likely sell it in a box set with the device, and single for people who have the device but not the game.
Or they could just use a controller. But the problem with that is the clicking. You would probably use the LEFT Analog to move the cursor and "A" to click. or you would move your character with the LEFT Analog. First idea seems better. So basically the Left click would be the A on a controller. The action button to pick up items, drop items, equip, etc... The other buttons would be used as hot keys for skills.
It wouldn't be too difficult. However. It will be different playing with a controller then Keyboard and Mouse.
I think its long due that we get a game for 360 that utilizes a keyboard and mouse. Ive been aching for a console that basically acts like a Computer that just uses USB Mouse/Keyboard instead of controller. That console would be amazing, and id play it for sure.
But for the merging. Activision is a really good company. And so is blizzard. Combining them could be a very good thing. Like like i said before, it could be bad as well. Depending on who makes the Decisions. They could pull Diablo 3 before its release!!! lol.
What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
Its not old news. It was discussed or "brought up" in December 2007. Blizzard made the announcement on their site today (6|10|08). See below:
July 10, 2008 Activision Blizzard Announcement
We're excited to announce that our planned team-up with Activision, first made public back in December 2007, is now a reality. All regulatory and shareholder approvals have been granted, meaning Blizzard Entertainment -- along with the other companies that made up Vivendi Games -- is now part of a new organization called Activision Blizzard.
While this transition doesn't impact our games, websites, personnel, day-to-day operations, or development philosophies, the combined resources of Activision Blizzard will make it easier than ever for us to deliver the best games possible to our players around the world. For more information, please check out our Activision Blizzard FAQ.
Blizzard brought ActiVision because they had enough money to do that,I assume they brought it so they could speed up the prduction of D3 and Starcraft 2!
I doubt Blizzard will do Console games until they finish the current projects they have going on right now.
Since this post turned into the dude that came up with the most briliant, most funniest splooph on every genre of game ever....
... that was honestly brilliant... but...
to the man who posted this original, helpful post...
in perspective... what fact's/perspectives does this pose to diablo 3? Maybe a console version? Who know's. But besides that... What?
This is from a naive and uninformative point of view that I don' think activision technicians and designers will intervene with original blizzard gaming, especially not with one of the great 3 games that brought blizzard to the top of the games market food chain.
