Exactly. It wasnt Um or MD that did all the hyping up. It was all the peoples theories and speculation that caused this to spin out of control.
Another thing. If you are actually getting this upset over some news you didnt like over a VIDEO GAME, then you have problems. Sure, its alright if your disapponted or something along those lines. But to throw a tantrum like a little child because of some news you didnt like? Go outside or something.

Well, I could even talk seriously and personally about sex without saying something akin to, "My girlfriend and I have had sexual intercourse not once, not twice, but thrice. During these times I had inserted my penis in and out of her vagina and ejaculated accordingly. I gently sobbed afterwards while she held me in her arms. This has all brought us closer together."
And no, I'm not getting out of here, the only way it will happen if you ban me. I enjoy the community and I AM NOT MOVING! I'm just pissed at Umaro and MD, I know they do hard work and spend their own money on that but that counter and explanation of it was way overhyped. And this was done on our backs, the real fans. If I weren't such I won't be feeling that bad and sad now!
So, ok maybe they did post that stuff about "half the web", but it does not really matter. For what are your wishes anyway? That thousands of thousands of people will come here, sign up, not really because they are fans. Mearly because they want to stay tuned for a possible beta-key. And about the whole "over-hyped" case;
Firstly, they did underline the fact that this was not an official announcement, twice actually
Things the May 1 Announcement are not:
1. It is not an official announcement of Diablo 3
2. It is not about an upcoming Diablo novel
3. It is not a Network merge
And secondly; by this actually being big news for this site, it is only natural that they would make a bigger deal out of it. Of course - Blizzard actually wanted to buy their site for their own use. Leaving us brainstorming for reasons.
And third;

The effects were never supposed to be mad, disappointed fans. But, rather take it as it is: A good Diablo3 rumor news! My hopes are up at least Thank you MD and Mockery and all the others providing us with this great info! I will at least spread the news to the interested in Norway!
Thanks a bunch, Mr_Wood, and hope the Norwegians get shaken too ;p

Half the web will link ing 14 days???
Then you qualified the statement and said only half the gaming sites would link to diablo3.com in 14days... Not a single mention in kotaku.com, joystiq.com, ign, 1up etc
You sir, mislead people. Very unprofessional behavior. Classic example of amateur internet losers running a mickey mouse operation saying whatever they want because there is no repercussions.
You manufactured peoples expectations with hyperbole, napkins, drooling, ZOMG etc pffffft I can't beleive i stayed up all night for this crap
Palenimbus, news usually take a while to reach certain places. Emails have been sent to various gaming sites ... however, the forums queue the emails. It may take a while specially with all the activity. Already over 10,000 views in this very thread.
Some sites are already catching up and posting news. Gamona, IGN(Ve3d) and PCGame.De already posted news of Today's announcement. It is a matter of time before it spreads all around. Blizzplanet alone is a news source to many gaming sites in China, Germany, Italy, Sweden, France, just to name a few.
I will keep a list of all the sites linking to this newspost here
ROFL -- I loved Actiontrip's way to announce it. Hilarious.
Keep in mind that Blizzard has partnered with Activision. You've got the best software developer in the industry combined with the largest game publisher in the industry. That alone suggests one mammoth of a juggernaut of a game[s].
It's been 7 years since the last Diablo, and hardware has made a significant upgrade since then. Blizzard likes to think big. Much like the graphical upgrade from Warcraft 2 to Warcraft 3, it'll be interesting to "see" what they make of the past 7 years. Whether it's for Starcraft: Ghost, Lost Vikings, or Hello Kitty remains to be seen for June throughout.
With -one- risen finger, I swear to you, that your optical drive will be in debt to you for the rest of your life.
Is it just more or shouldn't there be some sort of mention of Blizzard acquiring Diablo3.com on their website http://www.blizzard.com/us/?
Seems like they should. Maybe its just early stages, maybe it will be up tomorrow.

Actiontrip had a nice way to put it yea I Have posted this news in my Diablo 3 Rumors and Storyline thread at Norways largest openforum, and people are visiting to read (Of course with redirections). I will send a couple of emails as well to some of the IT nettpapers Gamer.no and ITavisen.no
This is great!
Edit: PS. did you change with blizzard at around this date: 24/12-2007?

They didn't announce their take-over of other diablo-related sites though. Nor did they announce their take over of Warcraft4.com. It would be too obvious for them to announce it.
Could have sworm there was something on there sites for some domain name buy ups. I could be wrong, I don't go to their site as much as I used to.

Dont worry about the banner. It was a placeholder. Atrumentis and Jetrall weren't online in the afternoon. It was kinda hard to remake the background where the 3 used to be, and mimic the opacity colors of "Fans" without the original PSD. I couldn't undo the grainy texture after a while, and time was running out. Anyway, it is there until the guys get online to create theirs from the original PDS file.
We were wondering who did it and how they did it, lol. I was thinking it must have been hard without the original psd file, and clearly it was hard. Considering the circumstances, good job.
The new design has many flaws. Firstly, its too dark (its almost only black). Secondly there is no banner and i miss some of the buttons on the top.
I will use the former site design untill the new one is better.
When it comes to the actual news, it wasnt really that exciting to see it, but its still awesome to hear that Blizz takes the Diablo3.com domain. I hope that means that they are working on something...

Wait, what? Are you using Carbon Fibre 20 or Dark Fantasy skin? Because Carbon Fibre 20 is the new site layout and there is a banner and all the buttons at the top are there. Dark Fantasy is the one without a banner or buttons up top.
Carbon Fibre is dark, yes, but there are browns and greys in it too. I suppose it also depends on your monitor's settings as to how black it appears.
Edit: The only button thats missing is the Image Gallery one. Hmm, yes, we should get that fixed.
...and a coming re-design would only make me excited if I were the website owner thinking about all the extra cash the countdown hype and redesign brings.
How is it, exactly, that Mockery and Umaro are making money from these things?
Did you pay a subscription fee to become a member of this site?
Were you charged a fee in order to view the countdown banner, or to voice your thoughts as to what it could mean?
Did Jetrall and Atrumentis pay for the honor of designing the new site elements for Mockery and Umaro?
And the domain name was handed over to Blizzard, freely; no profit there.
So where is all the money you claim to be the prize for all of this coming from?
If you are interested, I could help you finishing the Design.
Nah, its okay, we don't need anyone else thanks. This is the kind of thing where only Umaro will approach you if he needs you, never the other way around.
