All this is ironic because as much as Sanctuary could doom all creation, it still is the only hope for the angels to survive the demonic onslaughts of Hell, but they're just too arrogant and prideful to admit it.
It all have to do with the fact that humans can be both good and evil...
Humans can be more righteous than any angels as much as they can be more wicked than any devil for the simple reason that they are stronger than both put together.
Prophecies are just dust in history... the real future is coming.
i dont think 20 years would be enough to make Mortals evolve to Nephalem, it would take generations (since that's how they lost they're power)
and besides if they wanted to destroy the worldstone, dont you think Baal would've just done it? this is very open to arguement, but you cant say that he wouldnt have been able to do it bcuz he is a prime evil
I'm pretty sure that Baal wanted all the power of the Worldstone for himself, but my guess is that the Three predicted their failure. Still it doesn't matter as the ultimate power of the Nephalem seems to go beyond even that of the Worldstone.
They don't need to wait for humans to regain their full powers, they can awake their birthright within any of them.
Uldyssian was a simple farmer and it only took him a couple of months to become the most powerful being that ever existed on Sanctuary.
Imo the ultimate plan of the Three since the beginning was to destroy the Worldstone to weaken the barrier between Sanctuary and the Burning Hells/High Heaven. The Dark Exile, The imprisonment of the Three, The events of Tristram and of D2 were only mere parts of their plan.
The Worldstone destroyed they will now be able to acquire the true power of mankind, the power of the Nephalem allowing them to win the Great Conflict and end all creation once and for all.
Why do you think Blizz made an entire trilogy introducing the Nephalems? It will without doubt have a great importance in D3.
Imagine Diablo with the power of Uldyssian and you'll get a good idea of what to expect from D3.
EDIT: Lam Esen tome said that things wouldn't have a happy ending...
