has anyone come up with some decent builds? I usually dont use any skills and stats and save them. until i know what skills i want. I want the best pvp and pk build i just dont know where 2 start.
It depends to much in the skill numberd and limitations. I think the skills that have alot of potential in PVP are teleport, images, slow time and repulse. Each makes the nuker a nuker ius the offensive nukes, but what truelly makes difference in pvp are they defensive spells, once you must survive to kill something.
Hey apoc never worked in PvP.. it was a ultimate PvE spell =_= Fireballs + Chain Lightning were the main pvp books or i'm getting crazy ?
I don't think the wizz have proper tree for the apocalypse spell. Its sound weird in the sotrm tree, in the conjure tree and in the arcane tree. Maybe apoc could be a spell for a new character. For balance they could put limitations like you spend all your mana to throw it or you get cursed with some curses after cast it.
But yeah, i want apoc back, that was a great spell.
I like the "lightning globe" orb she's holding. Wands and staffs are a little cliche these days, not to mention she's pretty young to be needing a walking stick!
They allready said the orb is a ''class only'' off hind item (like the necromancer's heads).
I'm sure they will put some main hand caster items (a spellblade would be cool) and two handed caster items (like staffs).
guys, over at the Diablo wiki where the skills are all presented, something struck me as odd.
The male wizard seems to come from an entirely different region than the female, judging his attire.
Is it possible that the reason why maleWiz wasn't playable at blizzcon is because he has a bit of a different skill tree than the Female Wizard?
Could this be what blizz meant would be the reason we would hate blizz?
But why would we? That would be so cool...
Unless he is the FOURTH CLASS?
Pure speculation, but could this be possible?
Imo, no it's not possible.
The famale wizz comes from Xiansai, but she don't learn the tricks in her homeland. She learn the magical skills in the Caldeau.. So the male wizrad will come from a different place but also learn spells from the Caldeau magicians, so their both will problably have the same spells. The reason the male was not playable in the demo is because they don't created a final model yet.
I would H-A-T-E blizz if the fourth class was the male wizz with some different spells. I can't imagine a more stupid way to screw the game.
Ok, far to much whining, but whining isn't banned on forums (in fact, it seems to be part of forum culture, based on every forum I have ever visited) so people telling people to stop whining is just as unhelpful.
I am one of those who doesn't think the name Wizard is all that great. Some alternative names could be:
Elementist
Channeler
Magus
Conjurer (not, in fact, identical to a summoner)
And I invite others to think of more. However, the name Wizard isn't that offensive, I would just prefer another if at all possible.
Also, I keep hearing people refer to the class archetypes left, and mention the rogue and knight, but also mention a ranger.
Has no one ever played Diablo here before?
Rogue = Ranged class, morons, remember D1? There has never been a stealth class like the rogue is generally associated with in Diablo, and probably never will be. Diablo is about killing lots of people, not sneaking around.
So we have:
Barb - Melee Class - Offensive
Wizard - Magic class
Witch Doctor - Pet/magic class... the summoner
What's left?
Knight - Melee class, balanced or defensive, possibly with secondary abilities like pally had
Rogue - RANGED CLASS, uses primarily bows, probably not stupid nature rangerish class, something more along the lines of the rogue and amazon before, BOW SKILLS, with magical bow and other ranged weapon attacks.
As for the Wizard, I don't know what exactly is so wrong with it. It's just a repackaged sorc. I want the sorc back, so aside from the mildly annoying name it's a great class. Make it's name better, and it's ideal, or just make it the returning Sorc.
And the old skill system in d2 was, frankly, bad. I love D2, but the skill system was terrible. There was limited flexibility and wasted points because of prerequisites, and any system that encourages saving points at low levels shows just how broken it is.
Plus, there were so many redundant skills! For example, on sorc there are three different fierballs... They are all the same in terms of usage, with only minor differences like splash damage or whatever. Why not just have ONE fireball skill, and scale it so that it doesn't suck at high levels if you keep putting points into it?
The new skill system is better than the old in some of these respects, and for that I congratulate blizz. Spells are pretty much unique (at least in their trees) and they seem like they are built to scale with level better.
Boy, if ppl form blizzard are so close-minded as you, i will be very disapointed with the next 2 classes.
I really need something different, in gameplay aspects, from D1 and D2..
untill now i've been a reader on these forums, but all this complaining about the name "wizard"
and it being a copy of the (previously awesome) sorceress made my keyboard itch
imo all you cry babies are full of shit, if blizzard released the male version of the wizard
you probably wouldn't be whining all that much about the name
as for it being a copy ... yes there are some skills we've all seen before,
but again ... male version -> less whining
just give me one example of a similar game with a completely unique skill list ? ? ? YOU CAN'T !
i for one love DI, DII and will love DIII !
and even if the wizard was called "bozo the lightning clown" i would still play him/her !
sure ... everyone's a critic, but in the end we will all pay for it, play it and love it
I'm not talking about ''unique skill list''. I'm talking about the overall gameplay of the class.
The WD is a new class imo. He channels spells by using summons as reagents. Noone in previous diablo game done that.
I really dont like the name Wizard, i really dislike it, makes it sound like a 4 yr old kid running around with a lil fairy wand and trying to DISAPPEAR stuff, seriously, why not summin kinky like Warlock or summin imba like that
Warlock is not a more mature name then Wizard.
My problem with wizard name is the fact that i expected more creativity.
In terms of gameplay, it's just a soc with new spells imo. I dislike it because i'm in favor of not recycling old gameplays, just creat new ones, but i must admit that theres a huge amount of soc fans that would a D3 without a pure spell caster that use teleport and magic shields as defenses and big bad explosions as offense.
However, there is some new stuff like slow time, runes and the own skill system change that will force you to have and use around 6 spells, that can make the wiz gamelay diferent from the soc. Still, i don't consider the Wiz a new class. It's just a remake (like the barbarian), but deeper.
Do I need to have a complaint? Why do I need to have a complaint? The only one I *might* consider a complaint is the inventory system, but I understand where they want to go with it and the reasons for them doing so, so I'm willing not to be unreasonable and let my personal preference block this from being an excellent game.
Secondly, Diablo I was entirely different from Diablo II (in color- Diablo II had way more color- and character classes, new magic elements, new types of items, a diverse world not limited to one dank dungeon and a few levels of Hell), and Diablo II: LoD had many untraditional features from Diablo II (electric traps, fire traps, shape-shifting, runes, etc.) I am willing to recognize the extreme differences and the evolution of Sanctuary as a world, not just as "Diablo", and its course as a game. I would have loved if Diablo III was in 2D isometric view. I would have loved if it was just a few more acts and characters (I.E., an expansion.) And why? Because, as a customer and fan, I've been able to massively enjoy each and every one of their Diablo games because of their differences- it's what made each one unique.
Don't try and play that card again. Ever. There were people like you who raised hell about the transition from Diablo I to Diablo II, too. And they were all wrong- it sold like bloody hell and the game is now considered by most newer fans as the basis of the series.
I totally agree with you. D1 =/= D2. And D3 MUST be different from D2 and ppl must get used to the changes. But the only thing i didn't like till know is the lack of inovation in the gameplay.
The barb is a remade class, so he's going to be very similar to the D2 barb. I'm sad because wiz is not a new class. It's a soc remade, with a diferent name and a diferent background, but the most excential thing in a game (and in a class), the gameplay. is the same till now.
@Magistrade: Frost Nova, Blizz, Huricane... All those things slowed down multiple enemys at once.
And decripify have a very very small AoE, but it is also massive.
Edit: I saw the offical videa and it's seens the Sphere do not only slow enemys, but missiles (like slow missiles). Thats cool once slow missiles was one of the most cool abilitys in D2.
Still, i'm disapointed. I spected a totally new character, with new gameplay and mechanics. Creat something new is not something easy, but its excenctial.
The WD is a very creativy class imo. He is a summoner, but do not count on summons to do everything. Noy only that, he channel effects by using the summons as ammonition.
The wiz is pretty much a remade soc, you must agree. But I see you're a soc fan (and i hated D2's soc) - so i'm glad you're happy that you got the old class you played but with new abilities.
But you must accept different opnions of other ppl. I was expecting something really new, not new spells in a old game play, but a new gameplay, can you understand ?
I said spell mechanic, learn to read. The new mechanic is time.
lol.. ''Time'' is not a mechanic - it's element. When ppl say mechanic they are talking about a gameplay feature or something like that.
Slow down element with Time Slow is not a new mechanic.. We allready have things to slow down enemys...
I really see no problem with it at all. You've complained about everything that's been revealed since the announcement- lighten up a little Wizard is a perfectly suitable name.
You do realize that in all three games their skills have always been based on D&D skills? There are enough new skills with the class, a new makeup, new spell mechanics not present in the Diablo games before. It's all good and moving forward.
That said, I love the new class. Every RPG game I've played, I've always gone with the casters and never gotten bored of them (the Sorceress is the only class I play in Diablo II, and I've been playing it for 8 straight years.) I don't see how they were uncreative by any means- It isn't humanly possible to create an element or magical principle that can't exist, they've all been done through history with mythology and folklore and gaming of all kinds. The fact they they introduced new spell mechanics is a very good thing and innovative on their part, since it would have been easy to stick with just basic elemental spells from their prior games.
Whats the new class mechanic ?
That think can really make happy.. tel me please Ç_Ç
I want to say I'm happy for everyone that is excited about this class. It's great you've found something you will enjoy playing.
That being said, I am very very disappointed. This class really really strikes me as BLAND. It's the same boring stuff I've done in games for years and years already. The same spells as D&D and countless other games (having gone through the released list of abilities as well as the gameplay video). I'm just not interested in playing the same character AGAIN.
That being said, perhaps something will come in the next 2 characters that will knock my socks off and I'll say "Oh...I've just GOT to play that," but none of these trip my trigger at all.
/sigh
/Agreed
It's absolutly more of the same old thing. I really need a strange and crazy class ='(

Imo D2 have a real small number of active abilities once only 1/10 of then worked. If a skill is useless, it doesn't even exist for me.
