Speaking of green, crypts, and lighting: http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/892/witcherfs9.png
Pretty greenish, too.
It isn't really a hack&slash, of course, so DIII can't afford such high quality lighting but can we at least avoid fake stuff...
We can assume that, but then I'd assume that's low quality lighting, still. It just doesn't look realistic. Or maybe I'm picky. :/ Heretic doesn't support colored lighting. Maybe they'll improve it. Before we do any petitions I'd want to wait for some updates.
I'd say: pursue artistic realism for greater immersion as opposed to surreal impossible graphics techniques. The real world is beautiful, there is no need to skew it to obtain great design, and there is no need to make everything unnaturally clear, we players are not blind - leave the element of surprise, curiosity, and the unknown.
I personally can't say much about the shoulder pads because they seem to be both low poly and badly textured so I think they are just underdeveloped at the moment.
Yeah, I wondered about it and Blizz confirmed it: The game will be getting darker as you play through and the petition will be thrown on to the level of a bad fart joke, even for the people who signed it.
What does it have to do with the caves picture you posted?
The caves: green colored mineral with neutral (white) lighting.
DIII: gray-colored surface lit by nonexistent green lighting...
What does that have to do with what Blizzard said, or improving graphics, or whatever? Are you even seeing what you quoting? Or just replying randomly?
And what does the petition have to do with this?

They will improve the graphics. What a revelation.
What does that have to do with that quote? In any case, they way you are talking, DIII should stay exactly the way it is, which it definitely would not...
Improve but not make it black and white like the petitions.
Please differentiate between the people who signed that petition and the people who believe DIII may look better with a few improvements (such as realistic lighting).
I could care less how you two think the place "SHOULD" (there's that word again) look. You're both critiquing art direction for an entire game based on one level that has a few parts that don't have lighting according to your tastes.
a) I'm not critiquing anything. I am expression my point of view regarding lighting, and I am 100% sure Blizzard will slowly make DIII look exactly the way I want it to.

The cave's inherent color is green. The crypt's inherent color is grey. But it was lit by a green light, so it looks green.
And I can't model Diablo on Doomsday engine.

I guarantee you 100% that they will improve the graphics.
The cave minerals are fucking green. That's their color. The gameplay video bricks are NOT green they are originally gray-white. That's the problem...
I know that DI was for me just perfect, DII annoyed me, DIII is OK.
