I think Diablo III is not the right game for you, if you are so focused on realism. Go play ARMA 2 or something if you're looking for that..
What are you talking about?
I'm the one arguing that it is a fantasy game... That you SHOULD be able to kill Diablo with all of these crazy skills and spells that are in the game.
Diablo isn't a realistic game. His original point was that Diablo looks like a 'pussy' when he dies to martial arts or toads... And I simply do not see why that is the case, which is why I am questioning his complaining about the monk and his skill set.
You're absolutly right, i never should of question anything that you have said.
I'm simply trying to debate what you are saying... Because it makes no sense.
You like Diablo 2, you can kill Diablo in that game by summoning wolves... Does that really seem like Diablo is a 'pussy' if he cannot kill some wolves? And you can kill him with martial arts as well... There are several skills I named that seem like it make the Prime Evils look weak for not being able to overcome them.
Yet now that very similar things are in Diablo 3, you don't like it. Seems hypocritical to me, like you are just looking for something to complain about.
These humans are not mere mortals, they are descendants of the Nephilim (Uldyssian much? No idea who he is? Read the Sin War Trilogy he is insanely powerful)
And now the Worldstones been destroyed .... there powers are slowly coming back. Not officially, but thats safe to assume in a way.
Realistic ... This is FANTASY. And the Monk FEELS very powerful. Did you watch the gameplay video?
Dont need to be so condescending, people will always have their own opinions. And yes some of their opinions are mostly irrational and whiny, but their opinions nonetheless.
I know, I agree it is a fantasy and that the monk feels very powerful... That his skills justify him killing anything in the game.
I am saying that it is perfectly fine for a demon to die to a toad or martial arts if in Diablo 2 they were able to die to the skills that were in that game.
First, if you knew the lore of diablo just a little bit you'd know why humans can kill demons.
Second, a werewolf/bear might just be a little more dangerous then some dude who knows karate, unless you're Chuck Norris. And i never said anything about "realistic" so i don't know where you're going with that, hell i don't even think that you do yourself.
Third, we post here because that's what forums are for either it's complain or acclaim something. Why i will buy the game ? Because I liked Diablo 1 and 2, it's not because somone doesn't like 1 or 2 class that he can't get the game.
Now you you failled on pretty much every level that there was to fail here, so maybe it's you who should go away, get some rest before you come here post some stupid crap like that.
You liked Diablo 2, yet it had a class that could kill Diablo with kung-fu, how is that possible?
So if you aren't complaining about realism, why are you complaining in general? Why do you think it makes the demons look bad to get killed by kung-fu moves or by a toad? Because it doesn't make sense, right? Because it isn't "realistic" or "believable".
Well in Diablo (and yes I do know the lore) humans are powerful, if I'm not mistaken at one point they had the potential to become more powerful than angels and demons. So why would it make a demon a 'pussy' if he was killed by a highly trained human warrior in powerful gear that happens to use kung-fu?
I know how much more 'amazing' it is to kill a massive demon with a swirling hammer, or after you transformed into a bear, or when you summon a bunch of little skeletons, or you lay down some traps that shoot electricity, or when you do a jump kick, or summoning vines... I mean, killing one of the most powerful demons in hell with that stuff is all 'hardcore' and makes the demons look bad ass... But killing them by smashing their skull with a giant mace (like the trailers show the monk doing) is just so lame.
If you ask me, the thought of the monk killing evils or Diablo for that matter with his kung-fu or w/e martial art he's using doesn't make him bad ass, it's making the evil look like pussies.
Giant demons getting killed by humans makes them look like 'pussies' in the first place.
In Diablo 2 you could kill them with little spiraling hammers, druids who turn into wolves/bears, an assassin doing jump kicks. Is that really better or more 'realistic' than a super fast monk smacking you around with his staff?
If you guys hate it so much, why post here? Why buy the game? Just go away because they sure as hell are not going to change it for you.
dude, its a freaking monk. Use your common sense. He will obviously use magic and some maybe mind controlling crap and thats it. Seriously though, they could have come up with something MORE original than "monk". sounds lazy.
So like in the trailer when he is running around smashing stuff with his fists and staff... And not casting spells... That means he is a magic user?
Ok guys. I'm going to have to agree with many other people here. This is disappoint. I think blizzard are out of ideas for some new creative, never-seen before characters. So they throw in a monk. The name sounds boring, just too many magic based characters" Monk, witch doctor and that other character, I even forgot what it called but i know its also magic based. Blizzard is running out of ideas. They could have thought of something mroe interesting. I think they just threw it out there like they dont care. They're not passionate about the game, it seems. Its a let down. :(. I hope they can redeem themselves with the 5th character.
Obviously you haven't watched the trailer if you think the Monk is magic based.
Didn't the d2 barbarian have a passive skill tree?
Resistances and masteries and the like?
Well, since d3's skills are set up differently you're probably right, but I was thinking that they would an integral part since real shaolin monks do extensive training to harden their body/control chi/etc.
Yeah, in D2 there were some passive based skill trees...
But this isn't D2, it's D3... All of the characters have had skills + passives in every tree thus far.
I think that if he's going to be a monk, he shouldn't be a ninja. If he's a ninja, that doesn't make him a monk. If he's going to do melee, I would rather have him use a staff rather than his fists.
BOSS BATTLE!: Run up and start punching him... how is that epic?
BOSS BATTLE!: Paladin type spells shooting from his staff and manuevering around him, jumping on him and stuff (acrobatics, not martial arts), power attacks to the face.
You must understand that if he were a ninja/assassin, then that'd look like Tekken from a different perspective.
I wonder what the female version of the monk looks like... what would we call her, the "girl monk"? I would rather him be called a preist and have the female be the preistess...
I dunno. What do you call a female barbian? Barbarianess? Wizardress? Witch Doctress?
I think punching/kicking could be awesome if done right... His hands could turn into tigers/dragons/demons heads as he punched and crap... If they did it right it could be pretty awesome.
Interesting. The Divine skill tree hadn't crossed my mind.
I was thinking it would go something like
Body, Mind, and Soul - Passives ( weapon masteries, iron body type things)
Martial Arts - Offensive play type
??? - ???
I really do not think any character will have a skill tree full of passives in this game considering every tree we have seen is already loaded with passives.
What are you talking about?

O RLY?
Obviously you haven't watched the trailer if you think the Monk is magic based.
Way to not use facts though.
Does he use mana or fury?
He just hits everything and it explodes into fountains of blood. It is by far the most visually appealing class thus far.
The screen shots look amazing.
Well now you know!

Something like martial arts (hand to hand?) / hammer and mace based / archery... High emphasis on crits (dexterity).
IMO.
