lets compare the hit registering of an online game in beta phase, vs two single player games having 0 latency. solid video...rofl
from what i can tell from playing... the d3 "hit lag" is much improved over d2. there is almost no way to completely eliminate "hit lag" unless they make the client do nearly all the work (makes haxing easier... not gonna happen), instead of asking the server for everything. the other way is if they used udp instead of tcp, which will also never happen.
once the game is out, people will be able to reduce their latency by changing their tcpackfrequency to 1 (default 2) just like people have been doing with WoW for years.
-gives the game, an END GAME. Baal runs is boring as fuck, or any other "run" for that matter. DII was dead to me when cows were made useless. Cows were the end game of DII, could drop good stuff, hard to kill, fun, and a benchmark for your char.
-makes it MUCH harder for china farmers to do endless boss runs and flood the AH. It wont be good money for them to have to send their farmers out into the world and just PLAY the game.
-bosses will still drop good stuff, but I find it 10x more fun to just log in and go "hmm I'll just do all of act 1, cuz its FUN"
if you updated drivers that were over a year old, yes it matters alot. if they detect you have very old drivers, it would likely lower your chances to get an invite, at least in an early wave. they want the game on computers that are up to date with drivers (say... not older then 6 months) this prevents possibly issues that otherwise wouldnt happen with updated drivers.
or they can just mass send out invites like they did for SC2. if the point of this beta is to stress the servers, then wtf are they doing? this week they should send out 50000 (10k per day) invites, which is hardly anything compared to how many will be playing live. if shit doesn't break, 10k more each day until servers start QQing. fix said problem, continue invites.
if this was a full play through beta, I would understand only have very limited invites. BUT this is a 1 hour of gameplay beta!!! LETS GO BLIZZ INVITES. chances are were all gonna be playing an emulated version before we get invited anyways.
I'm playing a barb first time, and playing through really slow, I want to make sure I check every possibly thing. I'm also probably gonna run every act twice before moving to the next so I don't fall behind in gear. I predict most people will have to run the game through nightmare at least 5-10 times to comfortably beat hell. It will be even harder to get to inferno. I don't want you to be able to just do normal>nightmare>hell>farm inferno all in one week. I want it to be HARD to progress to the next difficulty. You should have to do normal like 5 times before you're ready to do nightmare.
For the small parties of 4 in D3, skype is perfect. More then like 5 ppl and vent is the winner. Also the way skype lowers other sounds can be turned off, at least for windows 7 its an option in sound properties.
