Unfortunately Blizzard's official position on hardcore RMAH is more of a 'wait and see'. They have said if there is demand for it (which I interpret to be enough use of 3rd parties services), then they will also consider a RMAH for hardcore.
It would be nice to have non-RMAH option that is separated in the same way that softcore and hardcore progress is separate.
Don't like the idea of buying progress in a game. Your financial position should have no bearing in a game at all; it should simply be what you can accomplish yourself by playing the game using whatever time/skill you have.
Unfortunately, there is no shortage of people that want instant gratification, and feel they should be entitled to substitute money for actually PLAYING a game (which ironically, all this time I thought was something people would actually want to do...because they are supposed to be fun to play...).
As for the argument it will happen anyway, that is a poor excuse really...you can't stop something you want to prevent, so you legitimise it and make it even easier?
The only benefit of the RMAH is that it will be a source of revenue for the game and maybe help to fund future work/support. Even so, I would prefer it didn't exist.
The trick is to use it at long range and reserve some Hatred at all times so you can swap to your secondary attack when they're close and you don't want to flip. And whatever you do don't get caught on edges lol.
It's a better trick to realise that if you have to go out of your way to make use of a (primary attack) skill that is of debatable benefit over other generators, it's better to use something else.
You aren't always going to be fighting slow zombies, and on harder difficulties when things are more dangerous and you come up against an extra fast, arcane, mortar etc, you need full control over your character and to have enough disc to vault when needed. Maybe you can afford the occasional death, but hardcore players can't.
My personal opinion is entangling with hatred regen rune. Single target it doesnt have quite as much damage as hungering... But its pretty close and slows them down without using hatred or dis. Technically if you really think about it.. Your doing more damabe than hungering because you get more shots off before they reach you.
Another thing is if there are 2 guys (90% of the time there are) it will do damage to both increasing the damage overall by more than hungering.

Entangling shot only damages the targetted enemy as far as I recall when I tested it...non-hit but chained enemies sustain no damage from the shot...
no one has mentioned evasive fire. ive been using it since late hell and have to come love it. i use the displace rune so its a 30 yrd backflip, with practice you can easily take corners with it making almost as effective as vault for alot less disc. decnt single target dmg and 4 haterd to boot.
Evasive fire is an interesting skill, but imo the auto-backflip is actually a severe disadvantage because it always triggers within a certain range (regardless of whether you are shift-attacking or not). This means that you will end up in circumstances where you can't use your main attack because backflipping backwards would be bad, or because you don't want to spend the discipline.
I recall my first time trying covering fire, I very quickly ran into a situation against unique frozen enemy where I couldn't fire because it was too close and there was a frozen orb behind me. The backflip trigger range is also large enough that it easily ends up being triggered too often, wasting discipline for when you really need it. Should mention I play HC, maybe matters less for SC.
I can't say I'm particularly impressed with the script myself from the beta so far...
When you first meet Leah, she says something along the lines of 'We are doomed unless someone saves us'. PlayerChar says 'I will save the day', Leah say 'Thank you'...
Then there was the skeleton king which went something like 'In case you were wondering, the dark fallen star awakened me. I am evil muahahahahah...guards, kill Cain'. That's not exactly word for word of course, but it was pretty much to that effect.
Lastly and possibly the worst was the blacksmith who says something like 'Oh my beloved wife, forgive me'. Then after you kill her with him, he's like 'Right...on to business' in a totally normal matter of fact voice lol...
Pretty much the in-game script all seems a little basic and not particularly deep so far.
The book of Cain started off GREAT and continued to be great until it came to recounting the events of the first and second games. Throughout that section, the quality dived off a cliff imo...it was more of a just a list of 'and then then did this and then they did this and then...'.
It also seems a little convenient/cheap to make the warrior from Diablo 1 suddenly the crown prince Aidan...it kind of lessens the impact of the original story where it was the then crown prince Albrecht that was kidnpapped and possessed. Similarly I prefer having the dark wanderer as a normal humble warrior who tried to take on Diablo and failed (eventually)...
All in all not exactly feeling confident over what's to come.

The reason for the policy shift now is simply because they are resigned to not being able to stop it, and so decided to at least capitalise on it (and hopefully yes, some benefit will flow back in) and make it safer for people who need instant gratification without effort.
It doesn't mean it's an ideal solution or that everyone has to like it.
Hmm I was originally in favour of yes just like D2, but some good points about no ladder resets and taking items out of the economy now have me leaning towards no. When I last played D2, culling of inactive accounts was still ongoing, which also helped keep economy healthy, howver that isn't going to happen for D3.

It effects no one. It doesn't "hurt" the appearance of HC by any means. Who cares if someone doesn't have 40 hours a week to play the game and hit end game without a little help? Does it honestly effect you? Are you that sad that it would?

Not all games are good enough to have garnered such a following as Diablo has, and the fact that people have enough of an interest to care about the specifics of the next big iteration is not a bad thing, but rather reflects on how good the (at least past) games were received/designed, and what the series has come to mean to fans.
The only reason RMAH is in the game is because it will make blizzard money. You can see in their games that many things that were once considered cheating are now acceptable, or slightly masked, because they can make money off it. Many of the things you can buy from the blizzard store haven't been bound to your account, and people sell it for gold, and are basically buying gold. Saying RMAH is a good way to keep people from shady deals is a good excuse. It seems they figured that it is a lot less effort to mandate the item selling themselves instead of trying to stop what was considered cheating by many.
I don't like the RMAH, but I've come to terms with it. I know blizzard wouldn't be able to stop all item selling, and that it would happen regardless. But the fact that their solution is making it a part of the game, really takes away from games being games. When you cant find an item with out thinking how much money I can make off it, or seeing someone with good gear but you can't tell if they bought it or actually got it. Sure you couldn't tell for diablo 2, but at least it wasn't encouraged by the game itself.
It really does impact everyone that chooses not to partake in the RMAH, because everyone who finds a near perfect item is going to think would they rather have some amount of gold, or another 50$ in their pocket for playing a game. The money auction house will most definitely be filled with all the best gear, while the gold auction house will have a fraction of what you see in comparison. People who buy gear will be rolling around in options, while people who don't have money to spend will take what they can get from the gold auction house and drops. In the end you buy power, its no different from buying achievements or buying something that should be prestigious. All those prestigious things lose their value, and the people who actually get it will go for the most part unnoticed. Obviously I can't say that's garunteed how it will be, but it's all fair assumptions.
I plan on sticking to solo play and exclusively with friends to avoid the RMAH at all costs, but hey to each their own and hope the people who put money into the items get some fun out of it. Hey maybe in the end the RMAH will make blizzard loads of money and they will put out tons of content outside the release and expansions and the game will be even better than we could have thought because of the RMAH.
