Just because you can reroll skills doesn't mean you wont have multiple characters of the same class. I personally think I will have a few different wizards. One will be my main item finder, one my pvper and one to experiment with. Could I do that all with one character? Ya sure I could, but I would need several sets of gear and then have to remember exactly what build I used for what and it would begin to become very time consuming and stressful. Instead I could quickly log out and swap chars to suit my specific need and not have to waste time altering and possibly forgetting something.
Just my 2 cents... And I think a lot of people would agree it will be easier to have 2 characters to quickly swap between than to completely change one character every time you want to do something new.
The monk will be a valuable asset to any team I'm sure but as far as his healing being game changing, I don't think so. Blizzard has implemented health globes into the arenas so even non healing classes will be able to regen life. Couple that with some life leach items and the arena will become much more of a strategic game. The strategy will revolve around controlling certain points at certain times, being able to either get health globes for yourself or keep your opponent from getting them. I see that being a much more deciding factor rather than having a monk or not.
As the other guy stated, high end with such a small budget really isn't feasable. When I was on a budget and in the market for the best laptop I could afford I dug around on Craigslist and EBay. You would be surprised how many college age gamers are selling their rigs super cheap to afford rent, food and whatnot. I've seen laptops that are maybe a year old and still worth around 2k being sold for under a thousand. If that is not the route you want to take then I would suggest sites like Tigerdirect.com or newegg.com. These sites sell new mid grade machines as well as occasionally having a certified high end refurb rig. Any way you look at it though, the more you spend the more you're going to get. For a decent machine you will most likely need to spend your max of 1500.
I am perfectly happy with original character classes. Too many games have tried to be "original" in their classes and just failed. The originality needs to come not in the form of a new class but unique new skills. Blizzard can create a totally original class such as the barb or wizard and then test out totally unique skills on them. People will get the general idea of what the class is about but perhaps get a few surprises in the skills they are given. This, in my opinion, is where blizzard should emphasize their originality.
Personally I'm pretty stoked about it. I like learning about the thought processes that are going into it. They are really making sure that it is playable and enjoyable. Plenty of good info and a decent interview. People that were expecting a new class to be released... I mean aim high to shoot high but really... did you honestly expect that big of an announcement? I didn't... all in all I'm content with it.
Also stoked about the new inventory. Good idea on their part I believe.
1.) I would mostly like to see new items added to compete with the current "godly" items. (don't delete anything just broaden the choices)
2.) Content/lore to tie into D3
3.) New area and/or harder dungeon with a new boss
Well my post will be somewhat biased to PS3 since that's the system I own. I must admit the Blue-Ray player is amazing. If you are willing to spend the money on blue-ray discs they are well worth it.
Also being able to go online free of charge is outstanding. I have not had any problems with my PS3 so I can't comment on the customer service issues I have heard about.
As far as the online community goes, I have yet to play a game that had any issues with finding games and whatnot. There are assholes in every game so maybe that's what people are refering to when they say "bad community?" I'm not sure, luckily I can turn on the headset and set it aside if I really want to.
I think someone asked about price drops... as far as I can remember the price has stayed pretty much the same but they keep throwing more and more into the package. So your paying the same price but getting more stuff with it, still seems good IMO.
The controller issue is your personal preference. Personally, I hate the x-box controller. If someone could fill me in, does the x-box controller have the six-axis type ability? I have to admit, being able to thrust your controller forward and smash someone in the face by doing so is pretty sweet.
Also, I believe, but don't take me at my word for it, that I read somewhere Sony is working on several games that will push the PS3 to it's limits within the next couple years. I'm truely looking forward to see what the system can do.
All in all I think if you get a PS3 you won't be dissapointed. The games you mentioned are all great, I own most of them. I'm thinking of getting LBP, I've heard only good things about it. I'm on my system just about every night whether it be playing games, watching movies, or just surfing around the net watching funny you-tube videos. Don't know if this helps at all in your decision but I'm way stoked with my PS3.
It is extremely convienent to know how much damage you are doing. In d2 I could look at my character screen and it would tell me something along the lines of 1001-2001 damage. Now, what does that mean? Im not a number cruncher and I never will be. I could, if I wanted, sit down and figure out according to my str, dex, etc. the average amount of damage I should be doing.. but if there is a simple addition to a game to take away that waste of time Im all for it.
Im not a die hard Diablo fan by any means, its a game, I enjoy it. Having something show me how much damage I crit for would be awesome. Say I get a new weapon that does 100-200 dmg for example but has +str and +dex. Now I get another one that does the same amount of damage but has +ed% on it. Having something that tracks crit can show you within a matter of minutes which weapon is better. Its simple, its easy, it saves time.
Why are people against this feature? Please don't waste time by saying "beacuse its like WoW", thats been said, its not a valid argument. WoW was not the first to implement this system. Or the argument "it looks stupid, it looks cartoony, it doesn't look real." I may be wrong on this one but bear with me... uhm its a game? You are slowing time, shooting magic missles, summoning creatures, throwing flaming skulls and insect swarms... and for some reason people are able to look at this and say its realistic? It is an entertaining game, this would be a great feature, and it has already been concluded you will most likely be able to toggle it on/off. It takes nothing away from gameplay and adds an element that saves time and headache inducing calculations. Im all for it.
Well I voted ps3 cause I own one, not saying its the best but there are many things I do enjoy about it... mainly that I can play online and browse the web completely free while my xbox buddies need to dish out money. I also enjoy watching blue-ray movies on it, the graphics are quite impressive.
and cod:waw... I hated it at the beginning, but now that I have familiarized myself with the maps and how my favorite guns work Ive started to own and the fun factor has increased 10 fold.
Thats a lame goal, WoW isn't even that fun for that amount of time, at least if your staying sober. I could see if you were trippin the whole time it could probly be a lot of fun. There's plenty of stuff to do in the game but after a day or so straight it all ends up getting repetitive and exhausting.
I'm betting my money you don't do it straight with only bathroom breaks. I'll say you make it close to 35 hours and you'll be done.
good luck though.. haha you'll walk away a better man because of it... hahaha oh man
Im so down for the drunken monk. Haha right up my ally.
To be honest though, undoubtedly there will be a ranger type class. I believe it's the gameplay video that shows a bow drop.. so you can count on that class.
The other class... I don't know most likely somet type of "warrior of the light" aka paladin. I mean, Blizzards clever, but it's a medieval fighting game against Hell, which imo limits the characters they can use.
As far as boss fights go I would love to see some "smarter" bosses. For the most part all you need to do in D2 is stand in one spot and launch off your attacks. I would like to see bosses that played more intuitively and reacted like another player would. Bosses that tried to get behind you or that used walls and columns to dodge your attacks or something. I could see that being a lot of fun.
Also give bosses an array of attacks similar to what a hero would have. Instead of them having 5 attacks or so give them 15. Let them have different attacks to counter your resistances and such. For example a boss could have fire, ice, and lightning attacks and would through the course of the fight develop a strategy against you by using the attacks that were most effective.
It would be so much more fun to have "smart" bosses than the old fashioned "stand and attack" bosses.
WC 4 should be interesting to watch develop. Which route is it going? Gonna be an MMO again or is it gonna follow the same path as 1,2 and 3? Interesting stuff. As far as SC 2 so that means a person that purchases say protoss can only play protoss and not zerg or terran? if thats the case thats the stupidest idea ive heard yet, a bitch move to make more money
