Log on to the Europe server, the number of active players is higher than the standard East/West/Etc. servers.
This is incorrect. Europe does not have more Diablo 2 players than North America.
It's simple math, and these rumors need to be put to rest.
Fact is, while there may be more players on their server, it's because one server is catering to more players, where as in the NA, it's multiple servers catering to an even larger pool of players. Add up all the NA servers and all the European servers (and factor in the fact that a lot of D2 players don't play online) and you will see that more copies were sold and are still played in NA.
Remember awhile back when I said that a franchise would win the majority of gamers hearts and increase a large amount of revenue if they released several games at one time compared to just one at a time?
Wrath of the Lich King
Starcraft 2
Diablo 3
No, I don't remember you saying that. Also, it will not increase revenue by a large amount compared to what they already make. It might be large compared to lets say what some other developers generally bring in, but not anything like you might be thinking.
Fact is, a large group of the Diablo fans are core Blizzard fans. When multiple games are released and the fan enjoys them all, it inevitably leads to a choice being made. One cannot be uber at both D3 and WoW, so those players must make a choice thus offsetting a large chunk of Blizzard's revenue their revenue.
Doesn't matter anyways. They've made more than enough money to self fund projects for many many years. I'm talking StarCraft 3, Diablo 4, Warcraft 4, etc..
You people act like there is some pattern Blizzard follows. There isn't. Blizzard is a company that rarely releases a game, so there hasn't been an opportunity to develop a pattern.
"Ohhh ohh!!! SC2 was announced at WWI, so its clear Blizzard only announces games at WWI events." Um, no, that's stupid.
As for the announcing D3 at WWI to sell Blizzcon tickets is completely off the wall as well. Blizzard has never had an extra Blizzcon tickets sitting around. They have always sold out and I'm sure they will again regardeless of what happens at WWI.
WWI is for competition and should be left that way. If they plan to make an announcement, they should make it at Blizzcon where they will have more time to show it, explain it and clear any questions up.
Ok that is one person out of this entire website who thinks that there is no announcement of diablo III, anyone else? If there was no d3 announcement, then why would bliz be too concerned about grabbing all the diablo 3 related domains, why would they continue to include diablo in all newsletter statements, why? Such negativity...your wasting your time here, no one will listen to you, especially here.
I don't believe there will be a D3 announcement at WWI. Maybe Blizzcon, but not the WWI.
Nope, but I'm reasonably sure I'll have to say it again. Actually, that can be your job. I'm sick of fact babysitting.
