You are the one with the negative attitude here. Don't like new content? Evil new items and quests? That's horrendous. They should just make it a mini-game like D2 turned out to be. Heck, they shouldn't release D3 all together - it's obviously a greedy act of getting some more money and milking out the franchise. Sheesh! Who cares if expansion costs money? You get everything for fucking free anyway. They let you play on their own servers forever just for being a one-time customer. You can go to a fucking McDonald's more often than Blizzard can release D3 expansions, that I can promise you, and you will spend more money each time.
P.S. Level 75 quest rewards don't come close to my TBC gear.

Don't be ridiculous. Level 75 quest rewards will blow your epics out of the water, just as level 65 rewards did before. The fact that old progress is utterly negated in each expansion isn't up for debate--your epics will help you level faster for a few levels, but who cares about levelling? Athene did it in 13 hours.

MTV Multiplayer recently spoke with Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime in regards to the business of World of Warcraft, in which he speaks about their goal for releasing game expansions on an annual basis". He went on to talk about Diablo 3 expansions:
Given Blizzard's "quality over quantity" creedo, I personally can't see them ever releasing expansions that often, because they'll always want to fine tune them even more. But what do you think? Considering how long we've had to wait for this third installment in the Diablo series, would you like to see continuous Diablo III expansion sets released roughly every year, or do you feel there needs to be more of a buffer in between those releases?
I believe anything more than a single expansion every 3-5 years is a simple grab for our money. Diablo 2 had one expansion, and that lasted about 5 years. The way they're talking, they'll be releasing expansions every couple of years.
I hated the fact that just as I was starting to become very well geared in WoW, an expansion would come out that utterly negated all of my progress and made everyone equal again. And I'd have to PAY MORE just to play the fucking game like I was doing months ago.
Of course the situation in Diablo will be very different, catering to powergamers of skill instead of "powergamers" of time-input. Nevertheless, I believe a little consistency in games is quite desirable. Turning an entire game upside down and shaking it every 2 years is a foolish idea.

Okay first everyone complained about how d3 is too influenced by WoW, and now you want to make it like WoW where you NEED a whole team to complete something? BOLLOCKS!
Actually, all the people who are suggesting required grouping are those driving diablo 3 towards WoW. People who hate WoW and have been vocal about drawing a line between diablo and warcraft (like myself) are utterly opposed to the idea of forced grouping.

That does not even solve the problem, because in the time it takes you to get a game with 4 players going I could have already killed Baal 10 times on my own. Thus, it does not benefit players who are strong enough to do everything on their own...which is the high level players, which is what I'm talking about. The only players that are benefited by that strategy are the weaklings who need to leech XP off of others.
I have the following ideas for making coop practical for high levels:
1) Make the ending parts of the game too difficult for any one class to take on by himself, so that you actually NEED to cooperate to get things done. Like Guild Wars.
2) Simply, more game content...longer storyline. This allows you to gain experience at a reasonable pace without having to re-do part of the story over and over and over again just to level. This is done in WoW (I believe), I think it has a really long main storyline that makes this possible.
3) Have high level quests that can only be unlocked by parties of certain size requirements
Suggestion 1 is a terrible idea. Perhaps the best thing about Diablo 2 was freedom. Freedom to kill whoever you chose, and play however you chose. Personally, I think most other players are terrible, and I don't want to be forced to group with them at any time, and for any reason.

If the barbarian isn't sword/shield focused for melee pvp it will be a complete disaster. I despise two handed weapon/dual weapon configurations, and don't want to play some sissy "knight" character.

I think d2 crafting was ideal. Any other game that has tried to implement it has failed to, miserably, with crafted items being either too good, too bad, too prevalent, or not prevalent enough.
In d2, crafted items had the potential to be the absolute best for certain slots (pre 1.10 of course. I don't even consider 1.10 and after as diablo 2). The best possible ring, glove, and belt for a barb, for example, could be gained from crafting. But the immense rarity of such an amazing craft made it something difficult to do, but worth trying for.

It's obvious to anyone who can see that you are correct, OP. Blizzard doesn't care, and they won't be changing it, so don't bother trying. Any reasonable argument you might make has already been made (and waved away with a condescending "blizzard knows what they're doing stfu OEMMMGEEE").
What WoW looks like works; it appeals to the broadest variety of gamer. History and franchise distinctions are secondary to profit in the view of this "new Blizzard" (post D2).

That's just your opinion. I'd say opinion from someone who can't see the bigger picture. If you had played it to the point of understanding all aspects of the game design, you would know otherwise.
I played WoW extensively both prior to and after the expansion, before I quit in disgust. AQ40 guild up to twin emps and TBC to Hydross (before he was nerfed. That was a long, long time ago, before SSC became noob farmland). I understand WoW itemization and game design intimately.
Criticism as harsh as mine is meaningless without perspective; for you to suggest that I lack that perspective is utterly ridiculous considering my experience with the game.
Regardless, we agree that class specific items have no place in diablo?

Surprisingly enough, I agree with you mattheo. Items that are universally good to all classes regardless of build have no place in diablo. However, let me say that the other end of the spectrum is much, much worse. I do not want to see very many class specific items. That was yet another thing wrong with WoW.
