I have to admit I laughed a bit when I read the blog post. Hopefully, their work on the expansion isn't progressing at the snail's pace the patches are. I can't see myself getting back into the game until a damn good expansion comes along. And even then, I'd be a little bit skeptical.
In an interview a good while back, Jay said (I'm paraphrasing a bit) that being too picky with game mechanics makes the game feel too mechanical and a bit sterile, and they wanted to avoid that. That's exactly how D3's gameplay feels to me, which is a bit ironic. They really need to stop spending several months adjusting the tiniest things.
The thing that bothers me most about Tyrael in Diablo 3 is that he always sounds like he's about to break out into song.
And on the subject of Tyrael tattoos, if I had one of those, I don't think I'd regret it just because the new Tyrael isn't as cool. The new Tyrael would not have been the reason for getting the tattoo, after all.
Diablo 2 is fun because (1) promote coop - only botter play solo.
That's not quite accurate. I had a ton of fun playing D2 solo, and I'm extremely opposed to bots or anything of the sort. And many of my friends played the same way.
To be fair, you're ignoring quite a few of the different terrain types, like the arreat crater levels, the tower, and the ice caves. But I'm a little bit disappointed too. More because of how similar the layout is in each playthrough.
I keep wondering why they chose to have damage reflection as an elite monster skill in D3. They removed enemies' ability to cast Iron Maiden in D2 because it was really unfair for certain classes and pretty much just annoying all around. I would've thought they'd learn from previous mistakes.
When starting out on hell, I found it very helpful to get a couple of rings and a pair of gloves with increased attack speed. So if you haven't done that already, it should bump your DPS up quite a bit. It'll also help you regenerate life even faster if you have a fair amount of life on hit.
Personally, I prefer a fist weapon and a shield. It feels safer, which is nice when I'm playing in hardcore mode. I'm currently just using a 628 dps magic fist weapon with no interesting stats beyond its damage.
Also, no, you don't add up the damage from both weapons when comparing to the damage of a daibo. I believe it's the average damage of the two, and then a 15% increased attack speed on top of that.
Communicating something that bothers you in a polite and reasonable manner will actually get your point across (believe it or not) and prevent you from getting banned. Going about it the way you seem to have done is pretty much the opposite of helpful and constructive. Next time, that's something you might want to keep in mind.
@OP: Yeah, Blizzard is pretty much screwed when it comes to Diablo 3's longevity. If only they had some sort of way to add more content and to fix the things that aren't working at the moment...
I really don't see a reason to be so pessimistic about this. The game is still a work in progress, just like Diablo 2 was for quite a while after it launched. I agree that the game is not quite where I'd want it to be right now, but I'm pretty sure the guys over at Blizzard are capable of improving it to a point where it'll last for years.
I'm not saying you shouldn't voice your concerns about it. In fact, I would encourage you to do so. But the situation isn't as hopeless as you seem to try to make it sound like.
The way I interpreted what Bashiok has been saying about barbs is that the developers don't like having skills you can't survive without (like revenge), because it lessens build diversity. And as a result they want to look into buffing other skills so there are alternatives. I very much doubt they'll nerf it.
I'd recommend just sticking with your purchase. If you don't like the game in its current state, just take a break. Play some other games. And when you get back later, they will probably have fixed a lot of the things that are bothering people. It's not like Blizzard can't afford to keep improving the game.
I died once in the sewers in act 2. I was trying to fight this one yellow guy, and another one jumped out from around a corner with a nice little vortex modifier. At that point there wasn't much I could do to escape.

Also, the dinosaur part gave me a good laugh.
