MTG does have "BIS" cards and decks. From a pool with over 20k cards, you have less than 500 staples that dominate the formats. Any game with a collection factor will have fillers to fill the gap between good and godly items.
Just got this beauty today, but I guess the roll were kinda out of place. Can you guys help me to choose which status should I roll? I ran a Barbarian and this Wizard. One gem slot makes a difference:(
I started with shoulder and chest. Then yesterday I got Tal Rasha Belt (already had the chest on my stash) and moved to shoulder and bracer to get bonus from tal, aughilds and captain.
What we need is items that are game changing, and I'm not talking about number crunch changes, I'm talking about change in the mechanics itself. We need items that morph's you into a reaper or other monster, items that summon hordes of cows/goats/rakanishus, items that make you held 2h weapons like a 1h (might belts/weapons could be useful) or give you a 3rd slot for a flying weapon that fights at your side. We need a fun game, with big numbers in damage and cool mechanics to work with. Runewords change this, I remember my hunts after white items with the required slots back in the day when I played LoD. They have the tools and the feedbacks, they just need to learn how to use them.
People always forget about the other good items. I for example got a Maximus with almost perfect stats and a Slot. The proc rate for the demon is insane. The chain hits like a truck (like 2 million each hit), but you'll never found a thread about it. Why? Because people always want to copy/paste builds and items. Like other already said, try to focus your build around the gear you have and not around the gear that has a possibility to drop. Start with easy to find items like the crafted ones, than enjoy some gambling, while running after this, you're already running after your desired SoH / TF:)
Some people really don't like 2h's on a barb and I'm one of them.
It's not about tastes, it's all about do what you can with the gear you have. I'm looking forward to get Devastator plan and go dual with axe, but atm Maximus is my best choice due FR DMG, Proc and a good dps (Mine is sitting at 2.746). So that's the point I wanted to show to the OP.

I really liked the idea, but I guess my time zone won't help much (living in Brazil). How is GS D3 population? Many active players? I'm 32, married and working on a full time job, BUT I do like to play a lot, and have spent all my free time killing hordes in Sanctuary. SG holds only extreme casual players or you guys also have a share of hardcore players ? (hardcore by playing a lot not D3 HC mode). I don't like to follow guild/clan schedules for playing, but when I play I try to reach the best I can do, so joining some players with the same goal would be great.
Yesterday I was running Act-II Normal to farm gloves. Got about 9 legendaries within 3-4 hours. Your "Just an eye opener for everyone blinded by "RNG is RNG / I'm geared and find loot so everyone else must too" logic." argument is invalid.
Well yesterday was a poor day at mangle's. Too bad they are forcing people only to explore. I do like explorations and stuff, but runs like Baal, Pindle and Mephy was one of the greatest stuffs in D2. They need to learn that some people like to explore, some like to kill infinite waves of mobs and some just like to mindless grind ONE boss. I really hope for this to be a false alarm.
