a zelda rpg would be fun, but a zelda mmorpg? if it is like WOW is wouldnt be that great. i would rather it be a rpg like Diablo in the sense that it would have great single player which in the zelda series we all love, and it would just happen to have great multiplayer capabilities as well.
ovrall it is a pretty good concept i like it, very similar to this http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/...&highlight=d20 only it wouldnt require any dice work. to have a Hylian, a goron a zora and possible a shiekah or gerudo all adventuring at the same time, would be cool, but i dont think Nintendo would do it.
they could however prehaps license someone else of fair reknown for making quality RPG games to do it, like Bioware Corp the famed creators of many computerised Dungeons and Dragons games like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter nights or possibly Blizzard Entertainment, famed creators of Diablo, but i dont think Nintendo would do that, they are very attached to their products it kinda seems like either they make anaother game in a series, or a spinoff or they dont, i dont really recall any game series that Nintendo has allowed other company to make games for (but there is probalby some or not)
the only really problem i can see is most if not all people would only go Hylian and make their char look like Link. other than that yeh i would give it a go.

Great idea Elfen....About everyone making their char look like Link..i could see that happening but i wouldnt care. All the more fun. Maybe there could be item drops similar to diablo. And rarely a Green Tunic would drop which could help u in the quest to look like link.
yep id buy, i dont say that about ever game. (modified firly oddparents quote)
it could work, but it would have to have the right people working on it. it would be sooo awesome

you seen Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, thats some of the best graphics ive seen in the last two years.
it is an interesting concept and i think it could work, but it seems like it is an unrealisitic dream, i gonna have to start robbing way more hot actresses if i ever what to see that happen.
still it worth mentioning, a Hylian with sword and shield, a Goron with a big ass Hammer, Zora with uh those crazy boomarang things they have (they are kinda like the DND monk of the group), a gerudo with two scimitars, pretty cool little party (group) there. out to save the land, and defeat the EVIL!!!!!!!!!!
i think it would be cool(/weird) to have a small degree of DND in it, things like only Hylians and gorons could use hammers as it seems in OOT they are the one races to use the megaton hammer, and only Kokiri and Hylians and possibly shiekah would use bows. and only hylians and shiekah could were guard's armor, as i dont really see a goron fitting in to it. or something like that, but i suppose people would see that as a bad thing not being able to use anything you want, i kinda like racial and class restrictions on items, it adds a bit of realism to games.
Barring a huge petition and maybe an act of God i dont think it will happen.

I think it would be an excellent idea. Everyone who plays Zelda is immersed in the world, everything is familiar from game to game. They could pull it off. Now you have me wishing they would go that direction.
Diablo2 is the only online rpg I've ever considered a good quality game. I'm definitely ready for something else to come along.
They could pull it off. Now you have me wishing they would go that direction.
then my job is done * looks to the side while standing in heroic like stance and pose*
i think it can be done, it would be a rather awesome game, being able to adventure around the realm of hyrule with friends, and not like that four swords game i mean a real multiplayer game.

just so as long as it isnt a MMORPG like WOW and rather has single player with a free to play multiplayer function like Diablo and Baldur's gate hell yeah ill buy it.

Dude if they came out with an online zelda game that would be so awsome. I'd definitely buy it. Would you guys want skill trees or would you just want the abilities each different character had in the game?
well seeing as its nintendo's franchise i wouldnt expect too many character or class aspects from diablo or WOW to be in it, there would be some. it would rather have general RPG or MMORPG features. attributes, spells, bit of char customization, i dont think it would have skill sets rather just a bunch of spells you can learn a little more like diablo 1. (none of the skill tree part).
the characters would have attributes their races have in the game or based on attributes the have in the game. Gorons curl up into balls and have a mighty punch, i would expect the gorons in a zelda online game to have similar abilities.
if you have played baldur's gate II, well that plus ocarina of time (and/or twilight princess) plus a bit of diablo thrown in.

most races in LOZ arent to well known for being evil or bad, well except maybe the gerudo, so i guess it would be more like diablo or baldur's gate, there arent really sides or factions the goal is to co-operatively fight who ever the end boss is, similarily to that of diablo or baldur's gate, i think. you can PK each other if you want, but massive good vs. evil battles are not what the game is about.

what i meant by that was u pick the side of ganon or link.
example if u pick link's side u could choose to b: zora, elf, goron, (maybe link or zelda themselves, dont know if that woud work though)
ganon's side u could b: gerudo, dark link and sum other mini bosses, and sum of the other evil character's
then it would be ganons force against link's force. I thibk the gaeplay would be there, i wouldn't want it to be just everyone on the same side against ganon, cause i can just play OoT and get that experience w/e i want. I would want it in the Hyrule World where not everyone is on the same side.
but all this is personal preference, and i see ur side of it to, both i think would make for a good game.
LOZ is incredibly storyline driven, (like Diablo and baldur's Gate) so i think this would take priority over PVP, i dont think the game would be like WOW, where PVP seems to be the main goal or whatever icant even remember how that game ends if indeed it does. It would be more like Diablo and baldur's gate, where the primary objective is to fight the end boss, and i get your point that would kinda make it basically multiplayer OOT (that would be cool, lol) this would be nintendo first online game rpg game, maybe another one further down the track (depending on how well this one did), could have a primary function of PVP or whatever.

decided to revise my list of things for how i see this game going down.
-wii only (unless emulated on PC) -free to play online -either it is like diablo or baldur’s Gate and a set number of people play together in a game or it is a little more like WOW where everyone plays on servers or whatever -a medieval setting, i would hate for guns to suddenly appear in LOZ and possibly ruin the game (thank you very much Medievil 2) -cool intro movie that totally draws you in. with references to previous games if there are any i.e. this game take place during the war before the events of OOT, -you can of course skip movies and cutscenes if you want -compelling, deep, intriguing, extensive and dark storyline -updated OOT or TP-esque graphics -Harder difficulties or at least the ability to set the difficulty higher -a saving style like OOT you can save anywhere you dont have to search for some silly owl statue or whatever. -Single Player and Multiplayer modes -the player char is not fully voiced but does more than just grunt and moan. -players choose male or female then race; either Gerudo, Sheikah, Kokiri, Deku, Goron, Zora or Hylian, then choose class, not sure on the specific classes but the will be variations of the 4 basic classes Warrior, Priest, Rogue and Mage, then you choose how your char looks; tall, short, fat, thin, muscular, skin tone, hair color (if they have hair) -certain classes are restricted by Race, I don’t really envision of Goron mage, but I see Hylian and Gerudo mages -each Race starts in a different location. -racial traits of the races form previous games should also be included in this one, Gorons should be able to curl up into a ball. -huge world full of tall craggy mountains, deep blue lakes, lush green forests, fields and meadows, dark creepy crypts, tall volcanoes, inhospitable golden sand deserts, giant stone cities, small thatched roof villages -a return to classic areas like death mountain, Kokiri forest, Lost woods and Lake Hylia, or at least place that resemble them. -upon entering a new area you get that little reveal cut scene you did in OOT -a orchestrated or instrumental and dark, eerie, gothic soundtrack with some lighter music too -characters from previous games to make a return or possible characters that resemble them. They may or may not be involved in the story of the game. NPCs are fully voiced. -lots of Interesting items and equipment like weapons and armor, swords, axes, hammers, shields. some classic items, the Hylian shield, Master's sword, ocarina of time, megaton hammer, Longshot, heroes bow and others (havent played TP yet but im sure there will be some cool weapons in TP) -items are restricted by level, race and class. I don’t see everyone being able to use the same weapons. Kokiris wouldn’t be able to use some of the large weapons a Goron could use, or Gorons shouldn’t be able to wear tunics. Hylians, kokiris Gerudos and Shiehak would use bows, but I don’t really see a Goron using one. -much like in previous games certain items stack like Deku nuts and ammo (arrows deku seeds) -gold (rupees) can be used to buy spells, items, upgrades for certain items, potions -lots of quests. Quests are divided into two groups storyline quests and subquests. Some subquests are determined by you level, race and class. -All quests give some kind of reward. Some quest rewards are determined by class, you don’t what to be a deku and get a weapon better suited for a Goron do you. classic and iconic enemies, Iron Knuckle/Dark Nut, Lizalfos/dinalfos, Stelfos, dodongo, wolfos skulltula, re dead, Gibdo and Dark Link. -The main badguy would more than likely be either Ganondorf/Ganon or Vaati (im not sure which) -to see a grave or tomb of a previous Link, or at least that is what you think, it could have an inscription like 'here lies (name has be scatched off) The hero of Time may his rise again to defeat evil and protect the weak. (or something like that), perhaps you could find a weapon he once used in there. a sword or a shield. -a village in the tree tops. (it might just be me but a village in the trees, Shouldnt it be in the tree tops not the forest floor) -several things you can do if for what ever reason you tire of adventuring at least for the time being, like fishing, target practice, horseback stuff. -to at some point in the game have an NPC fight with you, kinda like shiek did in that cutscene in kakariko village in OOT, not just a NPC who follows you like Zelda towards the end of OOT -lots of dungeons to enter, some are storyline related while others are totally optional but yields good items. -content that is only available after you finish the game, you leave it running through the credits they play and unlock this stuff, a weapon or something like that. -a slight sense of realism, i didnt like it how in OOT with the golden gauntlets Link can lift huge blocks, but he cant punch boulders to bits. his strength seems to change. ok he could never damage boulders before, but with those gauntlets he should have been able to. if Link acquires something to increase his strength it should have more application than lifting giant blocks. it should increase his damage too.

some good ideas in there u hav elfen. but for the chara classes i dont think i like the idea of picking mage or rogue or whatever. i think if ur going to do that then why not hav a skill tree? man im stuck on the idea of a skill tree lol. I mean basically if u do ur skill tree right u basically pick ur class, but that is personal preference and either way it would work. As for the weapons, could u get the master sword or would that b to unrealistic because that weapon is reserved for the hero of time? I liked the idea u had of restricting certain charas of using certain items, lol ur example of a goron in a tunic had me laughing. Any ideas on the different types of weapons? I was thinking more along the lines of not having attributes to the weapons just catagorize them by rarity. The more rarer the more powerful because the other way, attributes, to me doesnt seem zelda.
you can still have a skill tree just not to the same extend as diablo. i.e. you can have din's fire then din's inferno a much more powerful version available at later levels.
no i dont think you should be able to get the master's sword. maybe a similar looking sword, but not the exact sword.
weapons would only have a few properties, as weapon properties isnt zelda although their are a few exceptions (namely the tunics and certain shields), but to have an RPG without weapon properties would be weird. so i think say a sword would have one or two properties, nothing huge like in diablo maybe properties like glows in the presence of Moblins, or does extra damage to undead.

But here is the big question: which Hyrule would it take place in? original Zelda, Return of Link, Termina, WW, or TP? Possibly a whole new one, with lost woods and all that in it?
I'd be a kokiri, or one of those eagle guys in WW.
more than likely Hyrule, either OOT based or TP based. so yeah lost woods would be in it.
