Is anyone REALLY impressed by the gameplay trailer? I mean cmon, It literally looks exactly like diablo 3, just with darker themes.... as it should’ve had in the first place. No real improvement on graphics or mechanics whatsoever. Oh the barb auto-climbed a wall you say?! Oooo. They’re just copy-pasting D3 and giving us what we wanted over 10 years ago. Non cartoony diablo game with PVP. And it’s still supposedly over 2 years until it’s released? Kind of a joke tbh.

If u watch the guys streaming the demo u wouldnt say some dumbshit like this lol. Tho the official gameplay trailer was low res so i can see if u got ur impression just from that.

....riiiight. Turning up the resolution fast forwards those graphics from 20 years in the past. Pics or it didn’t happen.
Game is really behind in development and for me looks like D3 with a new engine, graphics-wise.
But for me gameplay and features are more important than graphics, so i seriously don't get why would you complain about that.
Also being an open world and seemingly able to hold more players at one place it is a good thing that the game can be run on higher range of PCs.

The gameplay also looks the same from the demo. So they added PVP, cool. They should’ve had PVP in D3 from the beginning. Acting like it’s some cool new concept isn’t a bonus, it’s a slap in the face. ‘open world’ was never a concept Diablo players cared or asked for. The only other thing ‘new’ is riding mounts and auto-climbing walls you click on. (Wow alert). Blizz also said they’re adding a monetization aspect to D4. Which might also kill the gameplay for anyone who doesn’t want to spend real money.
I've missed the monetization part, but I doubt it'd be anything further than cosmetics.
Also the game is not even in alpha. I doubt we'll see it sooner than 3 yrs, many things can and will change by then.
So I don't see why you think this is all to it. Also you miss the part that it has different skills system and talents.
It is nothing innovative that's for sure, but I'd prefer something that fits everything that is proven good and enjoyable than some experiments like they did with D3 vanilla.

Look, I’m not saying the game looks bad. I’m saying it looks good.. it’s just annoying that blizzard should’ve had this game out as D3 in the first place. It shouldn’t of taken over 20 years to get to this point. The darker themes, PVP. Skill trees , ect. Should’ve all been in D3. And since the graphics aren’t improved at all, this game looks like it literally should’ve been the real D3.

I understand what you mean. But look at it this way: they've got a lot of information by failing with D3, that way they've been able to put these things that you feel like should've been already there in D4. It is really objective, If they knew all this I'm pretty sure you would've had the D3 you're talking about.
D3's graphics and arts are the things I have the least problem with about that game. I really don't mind similar looking graphics in Diablo 4. I'm not sure what people complaining about the game looking like D3 graphically were expecting.. 2D pixelized, cartoonish, extremely realistic looking? I for one really don't care about graphics compared to the actual content and game play. If you remember when D3 was first announced and showed at blizzcon, the gameplay they showed wasn't even in the actual game. The game just got announced and has a lot of time left to change until it's actually released.
Personally, I really like most of what I've seen from demo streams and read about the panel they had. The only very similar thing I've seen from Diablo 3 are some of the skills but we've only seen a couple since the demo is limited to level 20.
Being able to meet with players seamlessly in towns without having to re-host your games in public every time to actually meed players and not having to worry about them hindering your game outside the towns seems very cool to me.
The itemization seems really different from D3 and more similar to D2. We have no idea yet about how the end-game is gonna be.
I can see why someone would be disappointed if they were expecting a much different looking game than D3 but beside that, it's WAY too early to complain about anything else about the actual game.
It’s okay to have healthy skepticism. Honestly, I encourage it. It’s an early look, and there’s still much to do. We just couldn’t wait any longer to share our passion with you all, and hope you’re as hopeful and excited as we are for the future!
This game is so so so so so far from finished. Just bring forward your criticism constructively. As you might have seen on the public forums, they will provide quarterly updates. And they really seem to listen. The game right now looks to me like early D3 screenshots. So much can (and will) change!
I really feel like they only announced D4 so early because of the awful failure they had last year and they really needed to drum up support.
They have mine - but they are going to have to do a bit better. The talent trees look real empty - the inventory looks tiny - I'm really not sure about the open world and people dropping in and out. But I'll wait and see.

Seems like a lot of the limitations of Diablo 3 are gone in Diablo 4, with no loading screens in the enormous map, and the ability to group with players without having to make new games, etc. Trading is back as well.
Have to realize, this game is probably well over a year away at the very least. They aren't even able to show us the other 2 classes because in all likelihood they may not even know what 2 classes they will pick.
My initial reaction was same as OP. I was looking forward to something a little more new and courageous with the gameplay...theyre playing it safe and sticking with the same basic formula. Fine.
i like the open world idea as a fun factor - but at what cost to the immersion and story. D1 was intense because it was you, alone (or 1 to 2 max) descending into hell. Hows the story line going to play with 100 heroes running around - will they ignore it or will the world set that context? The trailor gave me home for a good story again, I just hope the gameplay can hold up even tho its unoriginal.
Yeeeah right, I guess I'll be playing Wolcen until this Diablo 3.5 releases. Honestly that skill system is nowhere near of that of POE or Wolcen... And they're building this new Diablo off those titles as it was stated in reddit's post. Honestly what seems to be worthwile with this new title is a lore. But we shall see what actually gets in the game and what not.
Sorry for second post as I cant edit the previous, it seems that this announcment is more of a damage control after all the f-ups they did, as the games is very unfinished and will take some time to actually make it work.
My first impression was similar. This looks about the same just gritty. However, after watching all the streamers and VODs though, it is apparent that this is a demo, and there is still a lot more to do. The announcement might have been a forced thing too. Older Diablo systems were used for the sake of ease in pushing out a demo. David Kim in Rykkers stream said something along the lines as, This is all the content we have done and completed so far. Which is not much. "Not even Blizzard soon" shows that as well. As they continue to worldbuild and balance, there will be many changes. The demo in d3 was much different then the game today. The big difference is how they listen to the community. Now that this is shared with the community there will be a lot more voices chiming into this project.
Remember, D3, the Devs ignored a lot of what we were asking for with little information in between Blizzcons. The system failed us which in turn made a failed game. Blizzard knows this. They are already being a lot more open about this game and expectations I hope that continues after Blizzcon.
My wife enjoys diablo 3, I enjoy diablo 2. I think they want 4 to be the combination of both.
They've taken positive mechanics from LA and POE and brought them to their franchise. Not only does that take guts when you're supposedly the genre's leader, but it shows they're listening more to their community on what they want. It also means they're adapting to the genre's evolution.
Clearly OP hasn't been paying attention to all the info we've been given the last two days lol.

Giving us what we already wanted back in D3 isnt some amazing new concept we should praise them for, it’s literally the bare-minimum of what they should/could do with it. We deserve this game at the very least, which is why I’m still slightly disappointed even though the game looks pretty good.
Thanks for this. Gameplay does look a lot better than in the trailer but I still hope the graphics/effects greatly improve over the next 2 years of production. Multiple people here seem to be reiterating that it’ll improve a ton in quality before release. Crossing my fingers.
