The last 2 legendary items I looted and identified on my level 70 Wizard were:
Homing Pads with Dexterity as the mainstat & +Spike Trap damage as an affix
Kymbo's Gold with Dexterity as the mainstat
I've wasted the past 4 hours for worthless (to me) legendaries. I thought the loot system was supposed to be "smart" in Loot 2.0 - I could see 1 item being off due to bad RNG, but 2 in a row seems like a bug. Anyone else experiencing this? I don't want to waste any more time in-game gearing up a my non-existent DH alt.
80% of drops are supposed to be smart loot. You got two that weren't. OMG LET'S MAKE A THREAD!!!
I didn't know only 80% of loot drops were supposed to be smart. Just this simple answer would have sufficed - not sure why there's so much hate. Just asked a simple question. And gamers wonder why they're "portrayed so badly" in the media - maybe because there is no civility in the culture?
All I did was ask a question, an inquiry if others were having a similar experience. I've NEVER gotten a non-INT legendary on my Wizard, so I seriously thought there could be a bug post-maintenance yesterday (wouldn't be the first time this happened). I think it's a reasonable response to the following experience:
Loot 2.0 goes live
run T1 on Wizard, get nothing but INT legendary/set items
maintenance happens Tuesday, log on, get 2 legendary drops in 4 hours, both of which are for a Demon Hunter.
Again, I didn't realize Loot 2.0 only drops 80% "smart" drops - it had been 100% in my experience. I understand RNG is RNG, I thought the RNG was within the confines of the class you were playing (so you might not get that Azurewrath with socket and max int rolls on it - you might get a terrible 2-h weapon for the 3rd time - I get it, that's part of the grind). Now I know, and also learned why so many people avoid posting in forums. Geez.

I'd like to apologize. The internet (and the Curse sites in particular) have taught me to be a dick when posting online. I figured this was simply another case of a person complaining about RNG. I was right, of course, but I also assumed that you were aware that smart loot wasn't always active and that, obviously, was not the case. So, again, I'm sorry.
OP, you have to understand that the reason a lot of people are starting to jump into hate mode is because this forum has had a lot of loot cry babies since the AH was removed. In your case, you just didn't know about the detail of the loot system, which is understandable and doesn't really warrant the haterade. However, so many of the loot whiners have been playing for a while and have become more vocal on the forums, so a lot of members have started reacting by slamming people before they try to understand the OP reasoning.
The forum users need to be better at judging intent before responding AND get better at creating constructive threads instead of whining.
Don't give up on DFans, just guide the conversations to make them better.

they are portrayed badly because the vast majority, like you just proved, is ignorant of mechanics that were announced months ago and were made available publicly.
What else is the media supposed to think? that games are full of people with more than one brain cell?
Belloc & Thornagol - thanks for the kind replies. Happy to see there are some good folks around (and, as with most things, probably MOST peeps on here are good). Thanks for explaining the reason for the backlash, and I totally understand - if your forum gets inundated with people just complaining to complain, that can get tiresome very quickly. This is the most active forum I've found on the game WE ALL love (hence our being here), so I made an account to post my question here. I didn't know the history, but now I do and will read much more before posting so I have a better understanding and will be sensitive to hot button topics (of which RNG, where's my legendary!?!?! is one, I gather). Faith: restored.

It's not just the "loot cry babies", a trend I've seen across alot of the games I've played over the years is that people simply don't bother to research or even read updates themselves and then take it to the forums, which results in threads like this. You might call it ignorance or w/e from our side, but it gets so tedious seeing post upon post about topics the OP could've easily found out themselves if they cared to try.

As much as it may come to a surprise to you, my life does not revolve around Diablo 3. *gasp*! So, no, I don't follow every single piece of news that comes out nor do I read every line of the patch notes. There are people who enjoy D3 and also enjoy other things, and it's just not possible to keep up with everything. I simply recounted my experience and wanted to know if anyone else had the same experience. And, just so you know, I did many google searches on why I would be getting dexterity gear on a wizard, to no avail (go ahead, see for yourself, please tell me which link I should click on to get the answer: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=diablo+3+wizard+dexterity+gear). So, I did care to try. I didn't find an answer so I came here to ask. Obviously that was a mistake.

You call him out for portraying online gamers so bad yet here you are, complaining on a forum about your pixels.
So, I looked up the patch notes. Here they are from the battle.net site. Please show me where it says there is only an 80% of smart loot:
ITEMIZATION (LOOT 2.0)
Itemization has undergone a major overhaul:
Legendary and Set items are now Bind on Account
Players in multiplayer games may trade Legendaries and Set Items they find with others who were present for the drop for up to 2 hours after the item is acquired
The Smart Drop system has been implemented
All items that drop have a chance to roll as "Smart Loot"
Smart Loot items roll intelligently based on the character being played (example: A Wizard is more likely to find items with Intelligence or bonuses to Wizard skills than a Barbarian)
Class specific items will no longer roll stats inappropriate to their class (example: Intelligence will no longer appear on Mighty Weapons or Belts)
New item affixes have been added to the game
This include Splash Damage, Cooldown Reduction, Resource Cost Reduction, +% damage to Physical damage skills, and specific Class Skill Bonuses
Item properties have been separated into two categories: Primary and Secondary
Primary Stats include: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Vitality, Critical Hit Damage, Critical Hit Chance, Attack Speed, Life per Second, Armor, +% Life, Bonus Damage to Elites, Bleed Damage, All Resistance, Sockets, and all new affixes listed above
Secondary Stats include: Gold Find, Thorns, Bonus Experience per Monster Kill, Chance for (Fear, Stun, Blind, Freeze, Chill, Slow, Immobilize and Knockback), Ignore Durability Loss, Bonus Healing to Health Globes and Potions, Bonus Pickup Radius, Single Resist, Life After Kill, and Level Requirement Reduction
This is to prevent stats that directly and indirectly increase character power from competing with one another
Stat ranges on items have been narrowed significantly (example: instead of an item having a stat range of 1-200 Strength, its range might now be something like 140-200)
Legendary powers now roll in a range, instead of a static amount
Example: The Legendary Spirit Stone “The Laws of Seph” has the legendary affix “Using Blinding Flash restores [75-100] spirit”
Players can now view the stat ranges of items by pressing and holding CTRL while an item's tooltip is open
All Legendary items have been reworked with one or all of the above points in mind
Please note that all of these changes will only affect new items that drop after the patch is live. Existing items will not be affected.
Potions have been condensed to a single type; they now provide 60% of your total health when consumed
All Potions currently in character inventories or stashes will be converted to the new Potion type
Wow.. Well I'm happy that your faith = restored (or maybe not so much anymore), but mine remains shattered.
Anyway, cba with this anymore, carecup = full / empty or w/e you wanna call it.. baiii enjoy the dex..
Still waiting for someone to show me where it says there is only an 80% of smart loot.
Im pretty sure 80% is more so a number pulled from the air, not something meant to be literal. While we are playing with "smart loot" it is still no guarantee that the items you get will be fore the class you are currently on. Over the past two days, my friend, while on a WITCH DOCTOR, has gotten a Won Khim Lau AND Crusader set helm. OMG SMART LOOT ARE BROKEN! No... Its working as intended. The majority of our loot is for our current class, not all of it.
Its called Smart Loot not Perfect Loot. Hell, I get items all the time with no kind of stats that anyone would want. I salvage them and move on.
Yes, the loot is smart, no, it's not smart 100% of the time.
RNG is R...................N.....................G
Sing it with me now so you will remember before you make your next thread
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSS
RNG RNG RNG!
RNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
But for the rest of you... !!!

Ofc it is, patch notes are nice lists, easy to find, easy to read and tells you what you need to know.
Sigh..
