I have a few magic find questions that hopefully someone can answer. First of all I'm farming act 2 and 3 Inferno with a little under 300% mf including a templar and right around 75k dps. Now what I'm wondering is should I just go all out dps in act 3 since rares have a guaranteed drop after 5 stacks of the buff, and there's a 8% (4% in act 2) chance of ilvl 63's anyway, and just melt the mobs as quickly as possible? Or should i just keep the gear I've been running with, and just kite the elites and rares like usual? Another question I have is since the rares are unidentified would it make any difference to put on extra mf gear to identify them or are the stats already set, and if so what's the point of unidentified gear? I was thinking about this last night and it would be real awesome if someone had an actual answer for me. Thanks in advance.
Items stats are rolled on when they drop, the identify process is just unwrapping the present.
edit- It really gives you a chance to get your hopes up that you may get a good item when you ID it, only to have it crushed. It also lets you get all pumped up when you finally get a decent roll... like a weapon I sold for $60 yesterday...
I don't really have any proof to back me up, but...
If you can act3 farm w/ MF gear do it, b/c the rares that drop off elites are garuntees, but with more MF you have higher chance to get more rares than just what are garuntee'd.
To my knowledge having MF gear doen't help ID anything, first off its Magic FIND, also in Diablo 2 ( i played for 5-6 years ) it did not help to have MF on while id'ing and i have seen no proof of otherwise in D3, and i have ID'd things on lvl1 mules that come out really good.
Obviously this is up to discussion but i am pretty certain that what i have said is correct.....BTW sorry for bad grammar
I was thinking the same about the identifying. But I was watching a stream where the guy would swap gear before identifying the gear and it made me think. But thanks for the advice and the help it's very much appreciated.
