I built a mid-range computer last week, i5 2500k.. 6850 gpu etc. I am still using an older 1650x1060 hanspree monitor and I am wondering if the upgrade to 1080p is worth the money for a game like diablo 3. Thanks in advance for any answers.

There probably wont be a huge difference betwen 1650x1060 and 1920x1080.
But they aren't very pricey anymore so it might be worth it, maybe wait and save a bit longer to get a 1080p 120hz monitor? the asus 120hz 24" model is quite affordable in my opinion and its a good investment as a 3d monitor as well.
Heh I'd get a 24inch ips monitor personally. Color accuracy is so nice... I hate the blueish tint that tn-film gives, plus viewing angles are terrible. Mind you their generally quite a bit more expensive.
Rather 1920x1200. I bought this 24" dell IPS monitor it was only 289euros.. So there are some cheaper models around now with the IPS panels. Might not be as good as 500euro panels but still way ahead of TN:

Yea quite a few dell's in the 300-350 range which are really nice. I never understand people spending 2k on their computer and buying a monitor for 150$. Boggles my mind.
