Contest of Reflexes (Which I would consider the polar opposite of contest of skill) imho belong in games like CoD:Black Ops and not Diablo 3.
I find it sad that your first example of a twitch game is CoD.
Diablo is very similar in structure to Nox and DotA, IMO, and is very far from NWN or EVE, which is what I'd consider more classic RPG.
I'm pretty sure the wizard skill is the fastest of all the movement skills, after all, it's a teleport, that means the moments the globe spawns, he has it.
My Barbarian's Ancient Spear patiently waits for your Wizard's Teleport to go on cooldown
..having just one at the center of the map is so bad i'm not even going to start talking about it..
Don't think it's a poor decision because like I said, it encourages combat instead of turning into a game of "find the orbs", but I'm curious to hear your reasoning on this.

But that's is just what the arenas are right now, it's a game of who gets the orbs first. If they remove party heal then the team that finds it will have slight advantage, not a gamebreaking one. And with different spawns locations people will need to work as a team(if you separate from the others to try to scout different locations you will get ganked by the other team)
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
Arena would be cool when you are bored. I don't think Diablo should turn into competitive game (like WoW arenas). The Arena PVP element should be just another cool feature that you can spend time on.
I agree and don't at the same time, I do think it should stay that way as you say.
However my reasoning is because WoW PvP was "balanced to death" its not fun anymore because everything is to equal and "balance changes" like adding resilience, and uni-gunning PvP trinkets, and a long long list of PvP related nerfs, ruined the fun of it all.
However... I do still plan to be primarily PvP focused and play very competitively.
what if they make a Dota mod for Dii? could be great to defend the base with you own char ^^
I like the "defend the base" idea but I always think more of LotR 3rd person games where you defend fortress walls and stuff, its really hard for me to imagine D3 has a full on Tower Defense game simply because the camera is so much closer than it is in DotA, HoN or LoL.
Edit: Last hitting minions also pretty odd because as I understand it ranged attacks in Diablo do not travel to "whatever you click" but rather have collision with anything they travel over. All Tower Defense games I have seen use a "click to move" interface as well and for good reason.

I consider that a twitch element. At most, it's quick decision making.
Most people don't acquire builds via theorycrafting anyway, they just borrow others'.

Explosive bast + teleport + blizzard = GG.
