Max level is 60. We're planned to be 30 by the end of normal, 50 by the end of nightmare and 60 by the end of hell.
After we play through the entire game in the hardest difficulty we only get 10 level ups compared to the 30 in normal and 20 in nm? That's...interesting.

I realize that but 10 just seems a bit sparse. You can easily leave nightmare at level 70 in D2. That's at LEAST 15 levels to the end of the game. Not mentioning that you could leave at 65 and still get all the way to 90 easily in hell.

And each level is supposed to feel more powerful. Also, they could set it up so that the runes you get access to during those last 10 levels are more powerful than the advances in previous runes, which would make those ten levels more substantial.
Well as I said before, with just a bit of planning or if they based rune levels on difficulty, they could make it so that each level is more powerful than 1 skill point and 1 trait point makes it seem. If the jump from rune level 1 to 2 isn't as substantial as the jump from 6 to 7, then they could make it so that the higher rune levels make those 10 levels just as important as the 20 levels you get in Nightmare or the 30 you get in Normal. And as Don pointed out the ratio of levels gained to total levels looks like it will be about the same in D3 as it is in D2. Not to mention they made it pretty clear that they weren't done with the Trait system and hadn't decided on how often Trait points should be rewarded. It could easily end up being every level as one of their main problems with the system during Blizzcon was that points were rewarded every other level.

Oh yeaaa. I forgot about that. Hopefully the level mechanics will have noticeable change between levels. That would give a lot of immediate incentive to level up. Before, the difference wasn't really noticeable until around 3-5 levels up.
