Hey guys...Frankly I'm really disappointed they didn't give a release date. I mean if this was supposed to be "Diablo 3 year" at Blizzcon why didn't they give the damn release date?! Another year of waiting then.
This year was EPIC FAIL for blizzard at the blizzcon. "This will be Diablo's biggest year!"... Bullshit. Biggest year for what? A fifth class and PvP reveal? Lol, pathetic. The things blizz have done for those 5-6 years they've been developing the game other gaming companies do for 3 months... Pathetic, just pathetic... I am at a loss for words... Bashiok also said something along the lines of "the progress we made is colossal" lol... Wait, Bashiok, you mean they Actually started making the game this year? Wow, I guess this really Is colossal progress for Blizzard. Because when I was watching the Blizzcon I felt like they have just started making the game this year... They haven't even finished all skills for the other classes... Pathetic is all I can say about blizzard...
I know man...Tbh they gave about the same amount of Information in the '09 Blizzcon. They shouldn't have announced the friggin game so early if it was no where near release. I was so excited when they said "Diablo 3 Year", thought they'd at least give us a beta or something. ARGHHHHH...what was the use of recapping the crafting sanctuary when they already told us about it in Gamescom?! Some guy wrote somewhere about how they shouldn't have announced it so early because now he has to check the updates daily to see if there's any news, and can't stop thinking about it. I couldn't agree more. Tired of always wondering 'when'. Can't even play other games because when I do I start thinking "I'm going to miss this when D3 comes out".
They have the luxury to screw around and rebuild the same thing five times over.
It is kind of impressive they have three classes mostly finished... I guess.
Think of the colossal arguments they indulge in about everything. That four player thing? You could see everyone on that panel tense up and look massively uncomfortable when asked about it. It's probable that a majority of people on the team prefers five or six. People whose opinions don't really matter.
You'll see people in the lead position take most questions at a panel no matter what its for, partly because the underlings are always terrified of pissing off god.
Re: Release date, the hype machine is geared to release next year. Starcraft 2 overshot its date and paid for it. They very very badly want it out next year. If that's any comfort at all.
The reason I was so pumped this year was because I was fully expecting a release date.
Imagine back in 2008- they had 2 classes out already which were playable. Yeah sure they went through a lot of revisions/iteration, but 2 years have gone since then.
Now we have 5 chars who are playable, crafting system in place and itemization already begun, so I was expecting the release date not out of some misbegotten hope but as a matter of simple reasoning. They even went on to say that this will be D3's year at blizzcon, so yes the hype was made by blizzard and not created out of fans' impatient wishes.
Obviously if the game is not yet released before next blizzcon, we'll definitely hear a release date then just like everybody knew the 5th class was going to be revealed in this one.
Funnily enough all of this was a cue for me to stop caring about D3 until late next year. So I'm not all unhappy about the consequences. Waiting isn't fun.
Q: I was wondering about end game content. Will we run out of stuff to do after killing the end boss?

It's hard to build end game before you have game, it has to come in the right order.

Not all players want to do the same thing. There a different ideas of end game. Some grind loot, other reroll. We also have PvP now, which adds an aspect of end game.

I hope someone asks about gear in PvP.
That's an excerpt from the Q&A. The guy who answered after Jay Wilson basically admitted they have 'no game' yet. Meaning there's still a LOAD of work to be done. I'm hoping for a Summer 2011 release. But Considering this is Blizzard they'll probably release the Beta in June '11. >.>...It's weird..I love and hate Blizzard at the same time.
If you paid attention at all at Blizzcon, they already mentioned right at the start this is an event in the way it's a cool day out for the fans and not something to over-promote their products. Of course, that statement is slightly horse crap but it is their official statement.
Slightly crap is still crap. So blizzard spent millions to organize a picnic for fans. That's so cool.
That said, Blizzard are the masters of not revealing deadlines and pushing them backwards if they actually did reveal the deadline. So far, I think their games have been worth the wait, so maybe consider stop being a nagging spoilt brat?
Yes, yes blizzard are great and the masters of the universe. We get it.
Anyone expecting a release date before at maximum a month a priori the release needs a reality check.
End of a sad story.
Try to keep the discussion civil before some mod distributes some chill-outs. Vent your frustration in a more constructive way, people.
Cataclysm release date is 7 December. From when it was announced, that's like 2 months away.
Sure that's an expansion but i don't think there's anything 'real' in that maximum of one month forewarning.
Also constructive frustration is real hard to come by sadly enough. As long as people are not telling off others for being disappointed, I think everything should be fine.
Point to note, I'm not frustrated by the whole deal but rather bored now. Pre-blizzcon was really exciting however.
What would be the fun of waiting, if you knew you knew when the thing you are waiting for is coming =D
But seriously guys, it comes when it comes, release date or not. Most of you are acting like those spoiled American teenage girls from TV, there really is no reason to get frustrated or angry because it is absolutely futile =D

Damn...I thought you were a mature person.
Like if people didn't know it was futile. It is that very reason that deepens the disappointment. A shame you had to resort to insults by alluding to teenage girls. And no, waiting in the dark is not fun for many people.
Props to Nekro. It's not about being impatient. It's about being led into believing something then cut off. And I don't know why you guys are saying we are 'whining'. Are we going like "OMFG **** BL1Zz TH3Y aR3 *******? Stop resorting to lame insults and stay on topic. We're asking for a little information instead of being kept completely in the dark. Which is our right if they hype the game up.

I dont know dude, i think that you are wrong. The two panels and the Q&A both had massive ammounts of information. We learned so many new things and we can finaly see how the game really plays. Im very impressed with the diablo developement team and i totally dig their "mindset" and basicaly everything they talked about.
let's face it boys ... wow > diablo
... of course .. it's their bread and butter. Still hard to swallow though.
I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon of saying how this years blizzcon sucked. The info they dropped was really cool. I loved the new gameplay maps and new char skills and the pvp vids are exciting. However I will agree that as cool as that info was .. it was slim info for this years Blizzcon.
one more time I'll say it wow > diablo ..... they gotta keep those monthly payments coming in ya know
/cries

Like I said, they don't themselves know when they will release it.
Yep I have come to the same conclusion and I find it a bit sad they haven't figured that out yet.
I wasn't trying to insult anyone, i was simply stating a FACT (emphasization, not shouting) that most of the negative expressions in this thread reminded me of the immaturity of those teenagers.
The fact is, Blizzard is "most likely" working at full capacity on D3 so it will come when it is ready, whether we get a hint about when that may be or not. It may in fact be me who is the mature one when i am the one who doesn't boil with negative emotions when there is absolutely no reason to.
Besides, i think there is good reason to think that the game will be out June/July 2011. At the very least the beta should be out no later than March/April.
This is how I see it. Everyone else should see this too.
It has been stated that D3 is close to a closed beta with family and friends. I'm sure that will be PRETTY soon. They will open the game to the public closed beta roughly around January(announced late December? Maybe our Christmas Gift from the D3 team) and the game will follow 6 months down the road from the beta. How can nobody else see that this is not going to be a 2012 release? June 29th 2011 and I'm sticking to it.

I think you're right, but that's in fact what most people think.
To those who complain in this thread: if we assume a June 2011 release date, it would be unwise of blizz to announce it already at this moment. There would be absolutely no reason for them to do so. On the contrary, the risk of a wrong prediction would be great. There's so much that can go wrong in 7/8 months.
Also, for those who complain about them nog giving enough info besides the absence of a release date: what more had you expected? I feel like I know 90% of the game already. Sure, we don't know much about the story for example, but when you buy a book, you also don't want to know the whole story before reading it.
I think what causes some unconcious frustrations with some people, is the fact that now we actually know so much. We know all characters, we know most game mechanics, we've seen gameplay footage of many different things, we know a lot about skills, gems, artizans, you name it. It's a bit of a buzzkill that the only significant thing we've got left to speculate about, is the release date.
I couldn't even fully appreciate all the blizcon news because of that.
Diablo 3 year. What a joke.
