So i use to play Warhammer Online when it was still good (when it first came out). Warhammer really put a whole lot of new aspect to an MMo... things that make you feel good and pretty much the ability to turn your history of playing into stats.
From the vids, you can already tell that you will be bashing up heaps of the same monsters. Wouldnt it be good if they implement the counter system in Diablo 3? For those who dont know what it is, whenever you kill a monster, it is recorded in your "diary" and the more you kill the more info of that monster unlocks (think of it as, a diary and the more u kill, a cool sketch of the monster is drawn own with a sotry of him slow emerging). From this, achievements can be unlocked well.
Kill 100 The Fallen ones: 5% Off on Potions
Kill 500 The Fallen Ones: 5% extra damage on demons
Kill 1000 The Fallen Ones: Gives Amulet that does blah blah
.....
Kill 100000 The Fallen Ones: 25% Extra Damage and gets a Fallen One Head for an amulet.
Obviously i have just randomly put in some achievement rewards, but you get what i mean. For the Passive Tactics (5% extra damges vs "_") can be made so you can only activate one at a time and cannot be activated in combat.
People who are bored enough to farm wouldnt really matter as well because the achievements you get wont be super overpowering. Think of it as, your bashing monsters with ur friend and bam! all of a sudden, pop up comes up and goes, you have just killed your 5000 The Fallen One, claim your reward from Deckard Cain. And then you think to yourself, sweeet i killed that many?!
Achievements can be in many many forms, and i believe achievements play a great replay value and an awesome motivator. By the way, for those who dont know, Achievements these days are the things that keep many games alive. (Xbox 360 would be dead if it wasnt for achievements. Source: TedTalks).
Anyways.. a dairy/journal for diablo 3 would fit soo much more than it did in Warhammer.
well... in D1 we had something like that... by killing monsters you get to know the HP, resistances and immunities, it would be nice to have something like that with more details and stuff like you posted... I like it
throw in total hours played, and we can kill ourselves when we see how much time we've wasted on the game XD

on a more serious note, ya, pretty neat to see your full stats, total damage dealt, total deaths etc, but its a lot for them to implement. maybe they can save that for a patch ?
mm..... yeah.. true, but tbh, to do this requires jsut coding... Like.. im not saying its not a big job.. but its a lot smaller job than the other things they do. Plus if u want to start recording your damages and stuff, you would want it to start at the beginning.
Maybe thye could just implement the code that begins recording your stuff first.. then they can update everything into the game with a patch..
The idea of having steam-type achievements in D3 is horrible. When you exaggerate the console/arcade type aspects of a game like this, you kill the atmosphere. Floating numbers, stimpak potions, no portals, and now achievements - this is sounding more like Robotron than Diablo every day.

I gota agree with you. Trying to add too much is not a good idea. Less is more.

Kefka, Final Fantasy VI
and see
Total kills:
Fallen 235
Zombies 100
Spiders 95
etc, etc,
not a big deal, we can certainly live without it, but I dont think it would hurt the game if they did do this.
