I remember that side missions (apart from the D3 story line) were never announced. What was announced is the adventure system, where a certain tile in the game world would have a rare/champion monster or miniboss.
I was hoping there would be side missions where a random stranger you meet outside or inside town would ask a favor of you. It could be a simple task, or a complicated one, but you'd be rewarded later....

From what I understood blizzard will be getting randomized events in the game coming as random quests which is damn cool!
I know for a fact they want random quest in D3 but said they dont know how they want to approach it so hopefully they will solve that at blizzcon which I cant wait for. O and the random events are AMAZING cant wait to play the game over and over and be different every time... I wont be too worried about getting rushed at first LOL ill want to play the full game a few times first

yea, thats exactly what i meant by this thread. I know for a fact there will be side missions, but i'm not sure the way they're planning it is how i imagine it..

The adventure system already has random quests implanted? The hell?
Uh yeah? They're talking about the little pieces cut out in static overworld maps where they can put random encounters. I'm pretty sure I heard them talk about quests for these, among other things.
Well... Topic Solved?
Cause that is what the OP was asking for.
i don't think you completely understand what the adventure system is...
lets say, for example we have act 1 from d2.. There is the general lay out, and there are the walls, caves, tunnels, monsters, etc. These things are generated as a random map so that these things don't appear in the same place twice in a row...
the adventure system is basically a database of a long list of events that could appear in a map. so these are saved in the database as an elite monster appears. the siegebreaker was (if i remember correctly) a "random event", not an official boss.
These things aren't necessarily missions/quests..they are just encounters you see while you're walking around.
a mission is: go to this place, do x, come back, and get y as a reward.
the adventure system is just random encounters of different monsters you can see. we don't know the specific events they have.. but one could be: once you step on this piece of land, an elite monster steps out and his minions surround you.
another could be that you see monsters attacking a merchant and you save him. They aren't missions, they are just to keep the game from looking static...
