I had an idea for what Blizzard might be doing with the Town Portals. Depending on the difficulty it might make them harder to atchive, so in normal you can get them as much as in D2, maybe a little less. In nightmare they are fairly rare, and then in hell you dont get them at all. What do you guys think? would you like a system like this?
Or they could make it so you just cant open them in hell, you could have them in your inventory, just not use them. That or make it so that you cant change difficulty levels, but that would suck because then no seceret levels
Yeah, in D2 i only used town portals for clearing out my inventory after a largish dungeon or just before a boss. And in Baals throne room. God i hate that place, but that story will be saved for another night:P
Yeah, which i never was, id pick up everything and run out of space very quickly, and this was with the collectors backpack mod aswell, and then id run out of money space and that got very annoying,
You certanly do like your exclamation marks Dauroth:P
Id like to see them make it so bolts, arrows, antidotes, stamina potions and the like more rare. I got sick of every second monster dropping something like that. Maybe they could make it that for an Archer type class bolts and arrows are more common but any other class they are rare. This would really only work for single player though
hhahaa i used to grab bolts and arrows town portal bk and sell them it acctually worked well if you had a friend who needed to go to the toilet and had a town portal scroll so it didnt close
Yeah it would make the player even more bloodthursty. This isnt a great idea but what if they made it you could use it after you have killed a certain ammount of monsters.
Wait... at certain checkpoints? You know, like waypoints? So you can only use TPs at WPs? GREAT IDEA FELLAS
lol i think they mean instead of having 'true' waypoints you can only use waypoints with a scroll of town portal. The idea was to stop abusing TP by limiting where it can be used...
I remember using an entire book of TP the first time I beat Diablo (pre LoD), but then again I had a fire skilled sorc. (D'oh!) kind of anti-climactic beating the game in 20 mini fights.
I think it's better to apply cool down to TPs, just like hearth stone in WoW, this will allow you the sell trash or buy potions, but you have to plan your time to use.
Well I think they can do 3 different things, or combinations
1st) Like the other guy said, portals at checkpoints, if this was implemented I imagine it like this:
You go to an area filled with monsters, and behind them is a small circle on the floor, like ritual markings. If you click on the circle your character will stand there and cast the ritual and a portal appears. But, it disappears right after the caster goes back in. If they don't disappear I can just run back to a previous check point
2nd idea) Town portal shrines. Every once in a while you will find some time of shrine that allows you to summon a portal.
3rd) You can hold up to 3 Tp's at all times, and they are extremely rare. When using the town portal scroll, he takes the scroll and starts reading it (chanting it/ summoning it).
On top of this, you can use the shrines.

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
No TPs in combat. If you are going to die, just die.
Tp should be used only to come back and sell stuff. Imo the inventory should be so large that it would never happen, you could run a entire dungeon without have to come back.

If you noticed in the gameplay trailer, the barb is hit many times, but he looses very little health.. Compared to d2 atleast..

Yeah but that gameplay trailer is no reference...
And i don't understand the connection between the amount of damage taken by the barb and the TP discussion O.o''

Yea, I'm also fairly certain that Barbarian was alot higher level than anything in that place. He mowed through monsters like a wood chipper. Also, as stated by Sir italofoca, that trailer is not a good reference. Anyway, the ideas so far are pretty good but you might want to take into consideration a single bound teleport that is on a constant cooldown such as the hearthstone from WoW. This would free up space and let you teleport after a certain amount of time, say 20 minutes or so. And the more people there are the better, because then you can teleport more often. Plus you would probably be moving faster and getting more loot so it would work out. Just an idea!
Or we could ask Jay

That trailer was tailor made tho to show off the game...not have people die from basic monsters lol
