Does anyone know anything about how cinematics will be incorporated into the game?
I'm a big fan of the Gabriel Knight series (who isn't) and I loved how they were used in those games. I think Diablo's dark theme and characters with a feel to them would make for great cinematics that would really bring out individual characters and the feel of the game.
I would really like there to be clips after entering a new city, completing a certain quest, killing a regular boss, or just traveling somewhere. I think it would add to the story and greatly improve the game.
Based on the teaser, I would say they would be similar to it. I think they will keep close to the D2's method, but have a more 'Been there, done that' kind of feel to them. Like you reminisce everytime you see one.
Well, in the teaser a little cinematic box opened up inscreen for the meeting with Deckard Cain.

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]"Fool! You have just ensured the doom of this world. You cannot even begin to imagine what you've set in motion this day. Go to the Temple of Light, in the eastern ciry of Kurast. There you will find the gate to Hell opened before you. You must find the courage to step through that gate Marius. Take the stone you hold to the Hellforge, where it will be destroyed. Now run! Take the stone and run!"
Th cinematics for Diablo 3 are going to be "fuckin dope" so dont worry about it

Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could
It's not a particularly vexing question. Cinematics were eye-candy for opening the game's narrative, or opening/closing certain chapters of it. This is true for all of Blizzard's games. Warcraft 3 had:
-Intro cinematic (Footman vs Grunt, infernal lands, with voiceover)
-Thrall's Dream (Medivh's voiceover, two armies clash, Thrall wakes up)
-Medivh's message to the king (Crow flies into King's chamber, transforms, flies away)
-Human closing cinematic (Arthas returns from Northrend, kills King Menethil)
-Undead closing cinematic (Archimonde playing in the sand, destroys Dalaran)
-Orc closing cinematic (Thrall and Grom Hellscream meet Manneroth in the canyon)
-Night elf closing cinematic (Archimonde descends upon the World Tree)
That's 7 in ROC alone. Frozen Throne has the opening featuring Illidan and the waking of the Naga. The end cinematic shows Arthas' climb to the Icecrown Glacier.
That's 9 for Warcraft 3 in total including expansion. I think D3 is going to have a whole bunch because they know it makes the final product feel that much more polished and its a real treat for the fans. They got plenty of development time so it shouldn't be an issue. Expect cinematics at the end or beginning of each Act (or whatever they name the campaign chapters)

What say you all?
That's a cutscene, a cinematic is like where the video with the meteor and the new Diablo and etc etc.
I guess they'll be just like any other game, trigger a event and they'll happen. End a "act", defeat a boss, enter a room something like that.
Jay Wilson: Same. Next.
