I look at the fact I paid $5 for runescape at one point and D3 > Runescape so therefore I would go up to 10 here is my little mathematical equation.
$5 = Runescape
$15 = Wow
$5 < $10 < $15
I wish this was in the "I'm calling it" thread so I could call it in there, but I'mma do it anyways.
ICI:
This is the dumbest fucking way of determining any kind of number ever, let alone a fee charge. It's not our fault you paid $5 for sound to a shitty game that's already free... and shitty.

There probably will not be a monthly pay, however if there was a monthly pay, I would definitaly pay it.
15$ a month isn't really much (it's $0.50 a day), if you manage your money well... it can be easily obtained. Well worth the benefits.
I can understand the angle that the some here are coming from, but I still STRONGLY DISAGREE with a monthly fee. Whereas some seem to find it worth $15 a month, $180 a year, to stop some cheaters and get a few extra updates, for the probable majority of us it's NOT worth the money.
Personally, if this were to come to pass, I doubt that I would even buy the game for Single Player, a colossal shame though it may be.
Why am I even writing this? Do Blizzard Staff Members even come here to read this? I highly doubt it.
Whatever, there goes another fraction of my life spent doing something absolutely meaningless.
I haven't read the whole thread so IDK if somebody has said this or not. Hellgate:london is P2P for its expansions, skill additions, class additions or whatever it may be. If you don't P2P, you are still entitled to the multiplayer, singleplayer, and patches, but nothing else. They did their own little poll and it showed that people didn't mind doing this.
On the other side of the coin is Guild Wars. The most popular MMO thats FREE to play online. PvP is great even without PKing people. The graphics, now getting dated, IMHO are actually a little more crisp than WoW though WoW has more content. Plus when you just want to take a break from the game for a while, it's still not costing you other than what you paid for the game initially. They have succeeded with this and have showed that a NON-P2P game can do great and continue to do great. Even with all the "punks", hackers, and just plain "noobish" people that play. So you see, Diablo 3 can be either or depending on what is being acomplished. If it's a mmo, then I would say P2P. If it's not and just has online multiplayer, then no I would not like it to be P2P. Just a little insight.

Look, not all currency is the same in every country. Blizzard games is international. We have to pay 55 dollars every month to play WoW which is very expansive. It is equivalent as using that amount of money to pump fuel for a whole week. Understand?
The concept of Pay2Play is always wrong. You have already pay for the game and you need consistently to pay every month EXPANSIVELY to play the game. It's not right!
How much you need to maintain the server? VERY LITTLE. If you were to pay 55 dollars a month and you have say 10 million subscribers and tell me how much money is that?!
Many games especially RTS and even Action RPG don't need to be Pay2Played. And this concept is certainly wrong to milk the players cash dry.
You guys havent played FREE2PLAY games, they have HORRIBLE HORRIBLE people in that game. I don't mind having pay2play, if it keeps the game clean, and keeps horrible people out of it.
Want to add though, if its free2play but has options to avoid/block/ignore horrible people then it is good. At the same time though, its an easy gateway for hackers to parade in.
As long as hackers/botters/etc are kept out of the game I am fine with it regardless of cost
There are plenty of cheats/short-cuts in WoW. Coord programs which is basically a maphack by giving exact locations....item pickers is like ninja in WoW.... paying or not, theres going to be hacks. I guess it just depends on ones personal threshold of tolerance towards hacks. For me the hacks and etc in D2 didnt blow my fun time or breakdown the economy.
Most of these things you say are legimate addons. Like that map addon well it can remember some minerals veins or herbs in the map you have collected.. nothing wrong with that if there was blizz would interfere. Besides exact locations can be found on the numerous info sites in internet.
I havent heard of item picker.. there is already autoloot system in wow when u click a corpse it loots everything. Item picker would work in group and it would get all the loot for you .. this can't be done in WoW groups unless u had put FFA loot on which hardly happens in dungeon groups. And anyways if something like this happened in your group.. you could just report it and get an GM to answer in a few hours.
There are and have been many exploits in WoW but these are flaws in the game not hacks.. so people find many kinds of tricks that they take advantage of. But these are fixed or hotfixed quite fast if noticed.
You say economy didn't breakdown in diablo2? I guess yours didn't if u duped. One day you have 1 soj and think you can trade it for something good.. next day you need 20 sojs to get that.
1. Keep the kiddies out. I am tired of 14 year old punks ruining my gaming experience. With a monthly fee, that is payable by credit card not game card, it would get rid of a lot of immaturity and would result in a better game. The game is rated M for a reason. Go watch your bob the builder and leave the gaming to the adults, thanks.
I don't know about this... WoW is p2p and is full of little kids who lack any sort of maturity.
If little kids are gonna share my gaming experience, I'm not gonna pay a fee to be around them.

...God forbid, the artists looked at a box of crayons one day and realized “Color. Good!”
I'm not a troll. I'm stating a fact. Starcraft also would need a monthly fee since it relies on the same service. Are yall speaking of A Diablo 3 Account fee or Battle.net 2.0 fee. The only way the Battle.net fee would work is if Battle.net had a universal account for all games.
I been lurcking around this forum for about a week and finally registered. I just wanted to add my thoughts in about this. Read before you flame please.
There are many reasons I would like there to be a monthly fee, or at least wouldn't mind it.

2. If blizzard plans to regularly update this game like wow, then I don't mind one bit paying for the content. It would give extra money to blizz for new enhancements and whatnot. We were all complaining about how d2 hardly ever got updated. Well, why should they when they have no reason incentive to. Added levels, bosses, items, bug fixes, and world events is way worth the cost to me.
There are many other reason however those are the main two.
Also, something else i thought of. Let say they start out with a fee of 5-10 dollars a month. Thats cheap as hell. However, every time you are caught using a hack, cheat, or exploit they raise that price 5 dollars. It would be a incentive not to cheat because it would start effecting the wallet.
Lastly, to the people who say they they cant afford a monthly payment. Honestly, if you cant afford 15 bucks max a month then you really need to get a better job or something and not play games. Im sorry, but if you are struggling to pay that small ammount of money you have other issues.
Bring your lunch to work 3 days a MONTH and save that money.
Dont spend 19 bucks at the movies and have that money.
Dont buy a case of beer and you can have the money.
If you are responsible with it you can easily find extra money.
Well thats my two cents, flame on.
I'm 14, but, I'm not an "immature kiddie." I'm not sure why you have to yourself act so immature and hate on people that are younger than you. Did some kids throw eggs at you once? Not all teenagers are children. By the way, the richer ones will still get their moms to let them play, or, ones with an allowance or that have jobs.

finally someone else has seen the gaming world falling apart. but keep in mind if a kid really wanted it bad enough their parents would probably pay for it. second off im kinda in the middle with the hacking, i think its unfair to most player but the upcharge would get a bit complicated. honestly they should just make sure there isn't any form of dupe, bots, or hacks. good post though. anyone who would flame this is a poohead >: X

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] they should develop a group for people addicted to gaming just like how they have alcohol and drug intervention groups XD

Wow.... "Leave the gaming to the adults"... In my opinion "Adults" shouldn't even be playing video games... They should have a life and a job and possibly a wife that they love... But if your telling "kids" to not play video games and leave it to the grown up's, Our examples?... Then your mind is twisted in ways that I cant even begin to imagine. If your talking about 8 year old "gangster" punks then I understand what you mean... But that was one of the most ridicules things I have ever heard... It should be the other way around... Leave the gaming to the kids and the important things to the adults until we are old enough to deal with important things. "Leave the gaming to the adults"...... Scum.
If your having trouble with immature people there are ingame things to solve this
1.If a spammer enters your game squelch him
2.If a pker enters your game mute him and tell your party to enter a passworded game
3.Leave the game.
This solves alot of the problems banning an age group wont solve any problems
