honostly? you probably wont see much problem if they keep it at an 8 player limit.
dispite how advanced the game is, the idea how servers send and recieve data are probably about the same, youll probably need to be more worried about your computers hardware meeting the specs.
Where i live highspeed hasnt bee available yet which really sucks, so i run d2lod with dial-up and it works fine, but will d3 work ok? That would really blow if i couldnt play just because highspeed hasnt made it my way yet... I played Dungeon Siege on dial up and it worked too, so i just dont know, diablo3 is going to be way more advanced than those games so they arent good comparisons. Any thoughts???
I didn't knew some people still were using dial up, we are sitting on 20mbit adsl2 lines here in a little norwegian town.
ok i just got thrown alot of questions so ill attempt to awnser as much as i can with this.
D2 Lod runs fine for the most part on bnet, o get lag every now and then but even my friends get lag with highspeed about as much as i do, i play it just fine and usually stay around 250 ping at lowest.
I connect at like 46.6 to 50.6.
I live in Ohio.
Like i said, i played dungeon siege online for a while which is 3d and it worked ok, and i play WC3 TFT and it works fine, both of which had occasional lag but nothing serious.
How do i check my upload/download speed?
O and my cpu is pretty good, like 128 graphics card atm, i have a 256 i just need to put back in it, 2 gigs ram, 2.4 amd duel core processor.
Chances are in 2 years high speed will be available.
well they have been saying it was coming this way in the next 6 months for like 2 years now so i dont know. plus what if d3 comes out b4 2 years like christmas time or sometime next year.

Again, graphics dont mean anything for the game, thats all about the quality of your computer. its sending and recieving the data to/from your computer/blizz servers that matters. cant really tell you if it will handle it or not without HAVING the game to know, but honostly, most games dont strain too much on dialup, you will probably be okay to be honost.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say dial-up would be accetable for D3 if it's reliably getting a steady speed (not constantly peaking and dropping). Unlike a game like, say WoW, your comp is only going to need to communicate with the bnet server and at max 7 other people. I've heard of people with dial-up just barely being able to play on WoW, so keeping this in mind, I'd say it's likely.
I understand how some people cant get other connections and I feel for them. I would love for ppl to play on 56k but if it affects other people then their might be an issue.... We will just have to see how things go. How many poeple could play on battlenet? Maybe they will increase the number of players per server...

Diablo 3 will be my addiction for another large chunk of my life
ok this is reassuring me a little, hopefully you guys are correct. Yeah its as reliable of a connection as dial up can be, it doesnt just disconnect randomly and crap.
Lmao, omfg guys, are you serious? Dial Up'll work fine, it doesn't matter about the graphics or game play of the game it's self, that all has to do with the hardware, just because its' D3 doesn't mean you can't play it with Dial Up, you're runnin' on what? 56k? That'll work fine. Depends though, if you're talking about that lag you get in clutter, then that's graphics, if you're talking about a lag that you generally get as you're walking fighting etc. ALL the time, then it's your internet, BUT I doubt immensley that D3 won't work with Dial Up, it should be fine, especially how Battle.net is an extremely good service Blizzard has given us. You should be fine, just don't have anything running in the background, aim, downloads, etc, and you won't lag. Besides maybe general spikes because Dial Up sucks.
yeah thats what im thinking too. i just get occasional lags because dial up blows but nothing i cant bear through, and they arent like serious laggage lol.

personally i use http://www.speedtest.net/ most of the time, works great.
