The one thing that I would like to see in D3 which im pretty sure it will be there are SET ITEMS :O. And they must not remove the leveling system which I think was very cool in the previous games .
Dynaverse: All these game you refer to are great, but not Diablo - if you like Guild Wars, play Guild Wars, it's a good game, but it's not Diablo: Saying a game is good doesn't mean another good game's sequel should be a clone of it. Diablo is about killing stuff, plain and simple - there's this unambivalently evil dude and his chums and you have to go brutally murder them all.
Sprawling towns would require you to take time out of your busy killing schedule to explore them: if more than a minute goes by without you having killed a dude, you're not playing Diablo properly. As for travelling, Diablo I had short-cuts, Diablo II had the waypoint and both had town portals: all these things work fine, why change them? This is not a game where you ride around on your horse admiring the scenery, this is a game where you murder your way through tons of evil dudes. The same thing with dressing up in nice clothes or building more than simple items (Horadric cube): these things distract you from killing, and killing is what this game is about.
I worry about games taking themselves too seriously. Doom95 is fantastic fun, and all you ever do is shoot daemons. If you like you can bring your buddies along too and shoot daemons together. Diablo 3 should stick to its roots: it's a game about killing daemons with your friends, not making difficult choices or admiring scenery or engaging in politics.
I agree, i want Diablo 3 to keep his roots, i don't want to play "world of diablo" or "diablo wars", i want to play diablo 2 with better graphics and some improvements from the flaws of the last game of the serie. If anyone here wants a DEEP RPG experience with Diablo 3 i think they should go look else where. This game is about killing demons, not talking to dozens of NPCs and make choices. It's action adventure game more then an rpg, keep that in mind please.
I worry that, because it is not Bliz North making, that they will lose sight of what we have come to love in the Diablo Series. We don't need a whole new look to the game, or a new feel! We just need a continuation of the plot and character classes/skills. Why change Diablo when it satisfies all of us?

Even though its probably for the best... I'm still going to miss playing tetris and figuring out puzzles just for my items to fit. It was nostalgic... But I hope at least items make sounds when they drop or when you put them down in your inventory. I like the sound of rings and ammys =)
The question the always stayed with me after the destruction of the worldstone and the soulstones of Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, is, being that the soulstones "are" destroyed and having the Prime Evils souls encased within them, are the Prime Evils fully vanquished from the world or are their energies kind of recycled? Basically will we be witnessing a rebirth to the Great Evils once again? And if so two things: Will we have to battle them again and how much will their forms be changed and how will they take form since their soulstones were crushed into thousands of pieces and will no longer be able to manifest themselves into physical beings using the human vessels as they once did with Prince Albrecht, The Hero from Tristram, Tal Rasha, and whom ever Mephisto's essence took over. Glady when I saw the graphic of Diablo III when one would first load blizzard.com I saw the face of Diablo, to me Diablo reminds me of a Balrog and also that of a lizard. In Diablo I Diablo had more of a demonic look, so if Diablo is returned it would be great to see him in that form once again. As for Mephisto, he was always my favorite as a look of Hatred, if he is returned keep that look and for Baal. Well in the video where Marius releases him from the chained stone in which he was imprisoned in Tal Rasha, that look was very much what I envisioned of Baal myself. But when Diablo II: Lord Of Destruction came out and he was that of a spider-legged humanoid, I was a tab dissappointed at the creative standing point to Blizzard's morbid-mindedness to what a Great Evil of Destruction would look like. Like I said in the cinematic where Marius releases Baal, he has tentacles bursting forth from his back, much like the Arch Angel Tyrael, in which he could grab things at will. In my opinion Baal's form would have been wicked if he were on two legs and looked much like he did in the cinematics, like a zombie, since Act II in Lut Ghulein was much about tombs and zombies and the tentacles from his back to do far out reaching destruction around his form. Basically what I'm asking is if the Prime Evil "do" make an appearance again don't change Mephisto, make Diablo like he was in Diablo I and please do something about Baal's foney look he needs more of a wicked look than that of a spider/humanoid - I mean what's the game of Diablo without Diablo himself being in the game? And for the fact the there are entirely new graphics to the game I'd love to see all the Prime Evils again with enhanced graphics. If anyone would like to talk to me about this in private or if any Blizzard representative is interested in the suggestions, if the Prime Evils even do return, plz contact me at my e-mail I've been playing Diablo since I was 11 I know the entire storyline by heart I love this game as well as Starcraft and Warcraft, I've considered even working for Blizzard but I play guitar in a band and I'm in college so until life calms down I am directed on other focuses in life but please if anyone wants to comment on these ideas please feel free to do so on this forum or my e-mail: dms1011@yahoo.com - Thank you - DHXC
I'm surprised this hasn't come up... how about the option to RE-SPEC!! Suppose your near the level cap and tired of spamming the same skill over and over like a WW Barb or a Wind Druid... well, how about you change into a Frenzy Barb or a Wolf tank druid? I just think this would keep the game's interest for higher level players who want to experiment with builds. It sucks when your level 80 and start going "Eh... this x build is starting to get old... I wish I would have gone with the x build." Just seems like a good idea to me. Whether it be you can only re-spec after a quest, a certain level, or just anytime for free... it needs to change! Another thing in dire need of change is the economy... make gold worth SOMETHING and actually, dare I say... TRADEABLE! Just some thoughts.

These are a couple key things, good post. Respecc'ing will be necessary since WoW pioneered it, or I will kill myself. Economy is also key. Gold>runes for trading.
BUT this is my NUMBER ONE:
-NO MORE LOOT THAT DROPS ON THE GROUND. I will admit that nostalgia crept over me when I heard it drop from a chest in the gameplay preview on D3.com (haven't played D2 since the duping began), but let's face it. It's bullshit to expect players to grind for gear only to have to be the first to pick it up to win it.
->I think the WoW need/greed system is one of the best ever gameplay additions to Blizzard's mmorpgs, and I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be used somehow in D3.

Lol. I guarantee you that forum junkies will have NO SAY WHATSOEVER in whatever this game has in store for us. While blizzard tends to maintain a love/hate relationship with its users, when it comes to game design and implementation, they are fucking geniuses and that's why we swarm to play their games.

The loot system has been changed so that what you see on the ground is yours. No more rushing for boss pickups etc.
