please note that all these things are examples and not set in stone, i'm totally not a dev
once you complete your grift, you can talk to urshi(spelling) and do your normal stuff, but them there is a third option, to continue the rift after you have chosen either upgrade stone or gems, and then monsters spawn in the fog of the map where you have not gone yet, then you can kill them untell another grift guardian spawns
after you kill it, and if you kill it within the time limit, urshi spawns back in and asks if you wish to continue one to try for a 3rd boss, and so on
each boss will drop slightly better loot, but all of this is done within the 15 minute timer
i think this could make for an interesting leaderboards
example: swissedcheese completed a grift level 40 and killed 2 bosses with only 4 second left on the clock
please comment and add onto it, i'll edit it for suggestions yall add in
While this might be fun, I think it will split the leaderboards even more.
Season/non-season, hc/sc, 6 solo classes/2/3/4player, thats already 36 leaderboard. If you start adding "killed x bosses" to that, you end up with unlimited leaderboard, because you can not compare them to eachother. Pretty sure someone will start a grift1 after a server reset, swapping places with other people, until the next server reset, and get a "rank 1" position like that.
Because of this reason, "each boss will drop slightly better loot" would be a bad idea, the accounts running for a week in a row would get the best gear.
Another reason this would not work: you don't want to ID, check to keep/salvage during a rift (I don't even thing you can?). After 10 bosses, you will have a full inventory, probably sooner.
And with the removal of trials (current internal build lets you pick the level you want to start), you can just remake the same difficulty when done, no more need to mass-farm those 35-45 keys for XP runs Making the runs feel more like 1 big run.
So while it would be interesting, at the same time I don't like it would further split up the playfield and give additional potential "exploits" and introduces a way to fix things that are no problem now.
But, lets hope someone can come up with a solution for those things, since it sounds fun.
