I play on HC, so I like to use Mirror Images for breaking frozen / taking agro / dps cooldown as the need arises, but I'm trying to compare the two runes in the title.
Mirror Mimics says that it'll increase the damage of the images to 20% of my own, but it'll maintain 2 images. Duplicates on the other hand summons 4 images, but the damage remains at 10%.
Doesn't that mean they're identical in damage? I mean if we discount how random they are at attacking. Why then would anyone use Mirror Mimics? Less images mean less copied spells (particularly if you use the Slow Time skill), and more chance of being attacked.
Basically... am I missing something or is this right? Just seems odd to me.

4 mimics have more health than 2 mimics. It's more difficult for your enemies to kill off 4 rather than 2 mimics. In terms of raw damage in an optimal situation (mimics don't die) it might be the same, but several situations make for a different experience and usage. Think about Blizzard with Frozen Solid rune by 4 mimics rather than 2.
That still means though that in most cases the Duplicates rune is better in every way. Blizzard really is the only spell we have that doesn't gain any benefit the more you cast it in the same place.
